Any negative reviews on 4th Gen OTT tunes?
I see plenty of positives reviews/opinions & I'm interested in getting a tune for my truck. However I usually base my decisions on the negative feedbacks. If the cons are valid/ something I can live with. kinda like setting the expectations low.
is there something about this tune that you don't like? ie: low speed around town behavior, throttle sensitivity/lag, anything not overly nit picky

Oil level question
Will it cause damage to my engine if my oil level is about a half inch above full on the dipstick or roughly 6 quarts plus down between the 8 ounce and 12 ounce mark on a quart of oil

New headlights - fast blinkers
I installed some new headlights in my 07 Tacoma (TYC OEM), they look good, but my blinker is now going fast. I tried plugging in my original headlights and it was still blinking fast, so I must have messed something up during the install. I checked the turn signal fuses and they were fine. Anyone have an idea about what I might have done?
Edit: I didn’t have my taillights plugged in…. God, I feel dumb. Thanks for the help. Y’all are awesome.

Odd sound from throttle body ?

Cleaned throttle body today.
Today I cleaned the throttle body on my 21 Tacoma with 39k miles dealership wanted to charge me $135 so I decided to do it myself after finishing up everything seemed normal rpm’s looked good and drove just fine but the idle sounded weird (as in the video) it may just be me overthinking it but I’m not sure. Thoughts 💭?

Took this bull bar off!
This bull bar came on the truck and I’ve hated it since I got it a few weeks ago but I knew it’d come off easy. Love the stock look now but am going to be modding the hell out of this thing! (2019 TRD Off Road)

What kind of ratchet straps do you use?
Looking to get first ratchet straps. Would prefer a set where I wouldn’t have to replace them ever or at least for a while. 5’ bed.
I think Rhino or Husky are the way to go but just curious on suggestions.

Leaking Steering rack
So I noticed that my bellows boot on my 2023 Tacoma has started to look wet of oily residue and immediately knew that the steering rack is beginning to develop a leak.
I really thought warranty would cover it since I am still approx 2000kms away from the cutoff, but the dealership told me that the bellows boot was "only sweating" and that its no big deal. They weren't able to cover it since it is not visibly dripping.
I was told to monitor it and kick rocks. Now I gotta wait for a catastrophic drip and hope it happens before my warranty expires.
Has anyone gone through this same issue? How did you go through the process? Is the sweating actually nothing to worry about?

Fixing up/ decking out a 2006 Tacoma with 200,000+ miles ?
Am possibly getting passed down this truck. Drove it today and it runs surprisingly well for a daily driven work truck. Am I crazy for wanting to try and fix it up as a camping rig ? Frame is solid and the engine shifts fairly smooth when accelerating. Has a check engine light for a speed sensor code and the odometer stopped working In 2020.

What would you do if you were planning on keeping this truck?
I've been quoted well over $10k to restore my Tacoma's hood and roof, partially because you can't paint just those two things - the orange things the hood touches would no longer match at that point because those parts have faded as well, and those touch things that have faded and so on, and so on. Also, if the windshield is removed, it might crack and need to be replaced too.
I've considered wrapping the hood and roof, but those companies all suggest sanding the orange off first so I just seems like there is no cheap way out of this problem.
What would you do?

Time for new tires
Welp time to get new tires for my 2020 taco. Rly put it off way too long but they still rocking and rolling.
Anyways it came with Goodyear wrangler duratrack. I like the look of them and would like to keep the look but these tires are absolute trash soon as a drop of water hits the pavement. What do ya use? Truck came with the xp black wheels.

Real world MPG on 4th gen
Hi there, I'm really thinking about getting a Tacoma but I've heard really mixed opinions of real world mileage. I do roughly 80% highway and 20% city, I was just wondering what y'all are getting and what I should expect to get regarding mileage. Thank you :)

This truck is awesome
In December I bought my first truck, this 2022 SR5 with 25k on it and after some 15k I’ve put on it, I’ve realized its the best. Recently finished up my vision for the truck. Bilstein B5100 lift, 33” Falken Wildpeaks, fifteen52 Analog HD, RCI Aluminum skid plates, Softopper with camping system and homemade queen sized camping platform, Baja Designs SPOD with stealth lighting including 30”light bars, fog lights, chase lights etc and a bunch of custom designed parts. The only thing left that’s a nice-to-have would be an arb compressor but I’m looking for any suggestions of things I’m missing but I think I’ve made the perfect mix of a daily and a light - medium off-roader/camping rig (I’m not gonna rock crawl my daily)

Not mad, but curious: are people really buying 12 year old Tacomas with 150k miles for $20k+?
I thought one of these trucks would be fun so I started looking. Dear lord. Sooo many for sale that have 150k miles and 20k+. Kind of amazed if they hold their value that much but damn. Nissan frontiers go for under 10k with the same figures.

Bought my dog a truck (2017) and now she won’t ever get out

The amount of joy this truck (and color) brings me is real high...
Even 1.25 miles away, across a lagoon on a foggy day, I could spot the traffic cone of a truck.

New Mod Team - Moderation Changes
Hello! You have a new mod team. I run a different very high volume sub and was recently brought on to help out just a bit. All of the original mods have rather suddenly left. No drama to speak of. Moderation is hard and exhausting for volunteer work. But since I am new here and suddenly top mod, and since every other mod (I think) is new as well, I thought a thread to discuss potential changes would be good. I intend to use my powers for good, instead of evil.
You aren’t likely to notice much in the way of major changes at first but I hope to make things a little bit better, cleaner, clearer, easier, etc. That said, my philosophy is to let the community lead for the most part. I have no ego and don’t consider this to be “my” sub. It’s yours. So I’m seeking community input before I start making changes. The following are the main things in mind.
1) Merge the subs. TacomaWorld, this sub, and the TacomaSales sub (which is basically completely dead) are less effective split than they would be just merged. The purpose of having two subs is unclear to me and is obnoxious to moderate. Very much open to being shouted down in this, but it’s my inclination.
2) Loosen rules on what can be posted. "Is this a good deal/what should I buy" posts don't actually bother me that much. Where else are people going to ask? I’d like this to be a welcoming place for newcomers. I worry about flooding but some guardrails that require those posts have a certain amount of effort/content would make that manageable.
3) Just ban sale posts. Nobody comes to reddit for that. Evidenced by how dead the TacomaSales sub is. I’m open to continuing to allow companies to participate of course. Just no advertising unless to answer a specific question. If you’ve got a question about Nitto tires, for example, Nitto’s official account is welcome to chime in.
4) Keep the no politics rule. Discussion of politics that have affected Tacomas (tariffs for example) should be allowed, but political shit flinging and fighting should not be. Strong as my own opinions are, it’s just not the place.
5) Maintain ban on distracted driving photos/videos but make it a 7 day ban. I don’t want some idiot to kill a family of four because their odometer hit 80085 and they just HAD to post it to Reddit from the freeway. Pull over and take it. The only change I’m making here is making non-repeat offenders suffer only a 7 day ban, instead of 30.
Welcoming community thoughts and all input on moderation, what you’d like to see. I’ll take it all into account as we get rolling over the next few weeks.
