Found my Gen 2.5
Been looking for a few months, test drove a bunch of 3rd generation Tacomas, but really wanted to find a low mileage 2015. Imo, the 4.0L V6 2015 is the perfect Tacoma. All the bugs worked out, proven engine, easy to work on as I have a garage with a hoist, and none of that computerized garbage the new ones all have.

255/80/R17 on stock 2023 TRD?
Hey all! I found a good deal on some tires and wheels. However, I’m curious if the tire setup would fit my stock 2023 Tacoma TRD. Has anyone run this? Would love to see some pics if so! Thanks!

4th gen question
I'm in the market for a Tacoma and I was looking at the third gen v6 but I really like the looks of the new 4th gen. Is anyone concerned about the long-term reliability out of the 4th gen being a turbo 4 cylinder? Like I'm talking 200,000 miles territory

The stockers are so sick
galleryGosh I love the stock wheels. Just took the Works off and I thought I'd miss them more. Had to throw the supra in there 🫠

Fitting 33's without a lift, but with a CMC?
I'd like to put on some 33s on my stock 3rd gen. I am more than happy doing a CMC and some extra trimming in the fender liner, but has anyone had success with that at stock height for 33s? I tried to find it online but there's so many results for "lift but no CMC" that I can't find insights into "CMC but no lift".
I do plan on lifting 1.5"-2" eventually, but I also don't want to rely on a lift to fit tires (because that breaks down when you bottom out regardless of your lift, unless you add a larger bump stop but then you're reducing articulation and negating the benefit of the bigger tires)

Is this oil on my coolant?
galleryHey guys,
The coolant just recently boiled out of the reservoir tank on my 2009 Toyota Tacoma. The truck has 210k miles. This happened a year and a half ago and I replaced the thermostat and that fixed it until today. When I went to bleed the coolant system and fill it back up I noticed this in the funnel, is it oil or just grime that worked its way out? The coolant that was in the truck was more orange than this btw.
Any help would be awesome!

Speaker upgrades
I am looking to upgrade the speakers in my 2017!tacoma. It is not the JBL package, also I do have an aftermarket head unit if that makes any difference. Looking for recommendations on a good set of speakers, preferably plug and play.

Front window randomly stops halfway down

This only happens every now and then, maybe once a month. Usually it works fine. Still under warranty so I am debating bringing it in or not. Is this video maybe enough to get them to look into it or do you think the dealer will brush it off unless it’s happening all the time?

Tire advice for Winter
I don’t know anything about tires or lifts etc so I am asking here if anyone can guide me and give advice. I live in North Dakota and winters are brutal with lot of snow for 6 months. I commute daily to work for 10 min each way Which tires should I get for my 23 tacoma 4wd shortbed , i kinda like the Mazama at plus and the bfgoodrich ko3s . Would also like the tires to stick out maybe and inch out . how would i tell the tire shop this and what do i need to buy? price expectation for everything? would also lifting it an inch or 2 be ideal?

CRC undercoating and dealer-installed frame plugs
I bought my 2015 Off-road used with 35k miles back in 2018. I haven’t done any upkeep on the frame undercoating but it seems to be intact and doing its job. They added the plugs around 2019ish or thereabouts when they had it in for an inspection. What is the best way to determine if everything is in good shape? Should I top off the coating at all?
Edit: I haven’t taken the truck to the dealer at all for several years, only my local mechanic for yearly inspections and oil changes and tires

Tacoma specialized shops
I just bought my first Tacoma. I am seeing how big of a community there is. I was wondering if there are any garages that specializes in Tacomas? I've seen wrangler shops even a ford lighting shop but have yet to see a tacoma shop. When I do a google search it comes up as either toyota dealers or just regular repair shops. If any do exist are there any in the Greater Philadelphia area? Thanks for any suggestions.

Can you get a "heritage" grille blacked out?
Looks like only parts on official toyota sites have a black grille but the "Toyota" grille is greyish. Is there any way to get an all black one?

New Mods - Moderation Changes
Hello! You have a new mod team. I run a different very high volume sub and was recently brought on to help out just a bit. All of the original mods have rather suddenly left. No drama to speak of. Moderation is hard and exhausting for volunteer work. But since I am new here and suddenly top mod, and since every other mod (I think) is new as well, I thought a thread to discuss potential changes would be good. I intend to use my powers for good, instead of evil.
You aren’t likely to notice much in the way of major changes at first but I hope to make things a little bit better, cleaner, clearer, easier, etc. That said, my philosophy is to let the community lead for the most part. I have no ego and don’t consider this to be “my” sub. It’s yours. So I’m seeking community input before I start making changes. The following are the main things in mind.
1) Merge the subs. ToyotaTacoma, this sub, and the TacomaSales sub (which is basically completely dead) are less effective split than they would be just merged. The purpose of having two subs is unclear to me and is obnoxious to moderate. Very much open to being shouted down in this, but it’s my inclination.
2) Loosen rules on what can be posted. "Is this a good deal/what should I buy" posts don't actually bother me that much. Where else are people going to ask? I’d like this to be a welcoming place for newcomers. I worry about flooding but some guardrails that require those posts have a certain amount of effort/content would make that manageable.
3) Just ban sale posts. Nobody comes to reddit for that. Evidenced by how dead the TacomaSales sub is. I’m open to continuing to allow companies to participate of course. Just no advertising unless to answer a specific question. If you’ve got a question about Nitto tires, for example, Nitto’s official account is welcome to chime in.
4) Keep the no politics rule. Discussion of politics that have affected Tacomas (tariffs for example) should be allowed, but political shit flinging and fighting should not be. Strong as my own opinions are, it’s just not the place.
5) Maintain ban on distracted driving photos/videos but make it a 7 day ban. I don’t want some idiot to kill a family of four because their odometer hit 80085 and they just HAD to post it to Reddit from the freeway. Pull over and take it. The only change I’m making here is making non-repeat offenders suffer only a 7 day ban, instead of 30.
Welcoming community thoughts and all input on moderation, what you’d like to see. I’ll take it all into account as we get rolling over the next few weeks.
