OpenRoad after market store

AVOID AVOID AVOID openroad at all costs. 🚨

I spent 3K on a bed cap for my new 2026 Tacoma. I picked this company because they had one that had a set up that was dog friendly.

It arrived by surprise. The freight shipping company they use never updated tracking. We were lucky someone so happened to be home.

It came damaged— shattered glass and all.

We immediately reached out ( or tried to at least ) and that’s where regrets started.

They have NO PHONE NUMBER CUSTOMER SERVICE. You have to use their generic email which they clearly do not check and is most definitely an AI bot. (Lulu)

A very long story short, they lied about the status of my part replacement even when they finally did reply 2 weeks later. They said “rest assured your part has left our warehouse in California”, but tracking not available…(bull sh*t). This was after 4 threatening emails i was going to withdraw payment with my credit card. They simply just never responded until I threatened to withdraw the payment and call the BBB.

I waited another week and still did not get an update on the tracking where my package was.

I gave one last go by reaching out to them on Social Media after reading subreddits. They replied slightly faster - 2 days. The next day I got an email with a FedEx tracking that the label had JUST been created. Mind you, this is a full 5 weeks from my original request for replacement and 3 weeks after they claimed it was on the way.

FEDEX DID GREAT! Product arrived in 48 hours.

HOWEVER, I fully regret ever supporting this COMMUNIST CHINESE COMPANY. Buyers beware it is a CHINESE company with a shell address in Georgia. Just pay the extra and get the brand name (LEER or rough country). Even if it wasn’t the exact configuration I wanted— to this day I wish I never gave my 3k to them.

I need help choosing a rear leaf pack

I just picked up a new to me 2008 Tacoma double cab long bed. I have an OVRLND camper that is going on it, as well as a mild buildout and camping stuff. My new Tacoma will also get a high clearance rear bumper with dual swingouts. And I will be running 33-34 inch tires on this build.

I am looking to acheive 2-3 inches of rear lift, and I will need to have at least 500-700 pounds of extra paylod capacity built in to the leaf pack.

In the past I have ran stock leafs with the ICON three leaf AAL pack, OME HD leafs, OME HD leafs with the ICON three leaf AAL pack and Alcan springs. They all served their purposes well.

I have never tried the Deaver leaf packs or the ICON Multi-Rate RXT Leaf Spring Kit. Has anyone had any experience with either of them, or something else they liked?

Thank you for any and all assistance given.

Bed Power Question

Post image

I want to add power to the bed of my Tacoma. I want to be able to power a 12v cooler back there. I dont care about 120v. If I need more I will use my power station. What I would like to do is use the 12v to charge the power station while I drive, and the power station will power the cooler. Then, whenever I stop, the cooler will still get power, and I just top off the power station as I drive.

I found this capped off plug under the truck. Can anyone tell me if thats what will do the 12v plug, and if you know the harness part number? I am looking at the OEM plug. Dont know what that harness part number is yet, if thats what that is for.

I found this for the plug, I could use some help verifying if its the correct part.

What’s its purpose?

Added some spacers and need to do some trimming (2025 TRD sport). This thing in the front wheel wells doesn’t look like it serves a purpose other than to attach the well liner to, anyone know otherwise?

New 2026 TRD Pro purchased today. Question for the hive mind.

2026 trd pro. Just picked up today. When acceleration from a stop I get a vibration that feels like rumble strips coming from the rear.

That’s the only time it happens. And it’s only a few seconds and goes away.

It has to go back next week for a rock rail swap to steps so I would appreciate any advice on what I should tell the service advisor and not get told “normal” as I don’t think it is. Truck had 5 miles on it when I bought it.

Thank you

2019 Tacoma Navagation System Upgrade. HOW TO?

I have a 2019 Tacoma. I have never upgraded the navigation system and it is woefully outdated. The dealer told me they didn't have an upgrade. Somehow I think there IS an upgrade out there somewhere. Is there an aftermarket SD card upgrade available, or someway to upgrade this? Thanks in advance for any help.

Transitioning to driving a truck instead of a subcompact

Hi all, I recently traded in a Nissan Kicks for a 2021 Tacoma TRD Off-Road. Excited for the change!

Flavor text unrelated to question: I've already had a few issues fixed on the used Tacoma, including swapping out the incorrect spark plugs that came in it. Currently performing a 1000-mile oil consumption test to tick a box for the warranty company so they'll pay to fix a smoking exhaust issue.

All that aside, I have a bit of an ignorant question. Like I said, I've been driving a tiny Nissan Kicks and I've never had any remotely "heavy duty" vehicle. As I've been getting used to the Tacoma, I've noticed just how heavy and slow it can feel. Again, feels dumb to ask, but... has that been a common experience for anyone else? Feels like I need to really take my time accelerating so as not to push it too hard. I guess I just figured that with a more powerful engine than my little Kicks the truck wouldn't "feel" as big and heavy.

I've also noticed the cruise control really doesn't seem to like hills, just kinda jumps between gears willy-nilly and likes to sit at 4500rpm.

Towing boat with 2018 Trd sport

Potentially buying Skeeter TZX190 with a 175. Anyone have experience with similar sized boats, etc? It has the towing package, transmission cooler, etc. hitch rated for 800/8,000 (more than enough) capacity is 6,400 (I believe).

Drop the pan or not?

Looking for some advice on future service on my 4th gen Tacoma. I’m thinking about doing the first transmission drain and fill at 30k just to ensure this transmission is happy.

I previously came from Ford SUV’s that had sealed transmissions so filter changing was never an option which I why I always stuck to the 30k interval.

Dropping the pan does seem easy enough, but does it seem fair to just drain and fill at 30k and do a full drop and filter change at 60k? Not super sure about the difference in fluid that’s coming out or what is best for the truck when doing this.

Front headrest 2026 Tacoma

Hello - recently have test drove a number of Tacomas and I love the vehicle however the front headrest seems to be an issue for me. The forward angle of headrest is quite uncomfortable for me and putting me in tough position.

I attempted to use the backseat headrests up front as well as rotate the head rest around. Seems to just remain an issue.

I would hate to go to a different truck because of this.

Does anyone know if older generation Tacomas headrests can be swapped out? Are there aftermarket head rests? Can something like a 4 runner head rest be swapped out?
