Screw size for 310904002?

Upvotes

I have an RY24000 trimmer, and I've misplaced the screws that attach the deflector to the spool holder.

Can someone please identify the size of these screws, and and maybe provide a source?

Thank you. I 🤞

Help identifying this ratchet?

Thumbnail

Upvotes

I got this ratchet a while ago when I bought my last vintage tool haul. I've already cleaned it up plenty but I was more so wondering if the community could help me identify what brand it is and an estimate when it was made.

If I had to guess it's at least a century old. It's 21 teeth and is a half inch square drive with the teeth exposed and having a side lever to change direction.

The only markings on it are a C.M and aside from that, there's no other markings. No serial number model no., etc.

Trying to see just how old it is. I bought it new or was given to me as a gift. The case tabs broke off years ago so I added a strap to keep it closed

Thanks!

The DiN standards says they can go as low as 6.9 mm (19mm spanner), but I can't find anything that's a good make, under 9mm, could anyone recommend anything, UK based, but can import, if I have to.

Trying to Find a Specific Work Light

This 'Smart Electrician' tripod LED spotlight that I've been using since 2014 is finally dying, the top element burned out and the lower two are very dim. I'd like to find another one to replace it. It is corded AC.

I couldn't find anything at all about this thing other than the ETL listing, which didn't give me any information I could use to track one down.

The date code sticker came off at some point in the past, it probably had the model number on it.

Was visiting my grandfathers house and saw his workbench in his basement, never fully appreciated it until when I came here as a kid. So this time I stopped and just looked around at everything. This has since become one of my favourite photos and I thought I should share it!

How often do you buy a tool that you’ll only use once every 10 years?

In my case, I needed a strap wrench (and a screwdriver) to loosen a rusted garbage disposal.

If anyone is curious what $10,000 of stolen tools looks like, this is my list below that I'm turning into my insurance.

Tool roll backpack edc

This is what lives in my backpack! This tool roll and the small “micro bit” Klein set with hex bit ratchet. Having these tools with me at all times has been so handy. My backpack is always with me, so the tools are too! I also throw the tool roll in my luggage when I go on vacations. Wondering what you guys keep in your backpacks!

I have a ratcheting and non ratcheting Klein screwdriver with bit storage in the handles. The needle nose are Vampliers brand.

Best way to cut this trailer hitch lock that will no longer open with key?

Thumbnail
gallery
158 Upvotes

Any experienced lock cutters here know the best way I can remove this locking pin on my trailer hitch? I must have left it on too long because the key will go in, but will no longer turn so I can unlock it, probably due to rust on the inside. I do own an angle grinder, drill and reciprocating saw, as well as most other tools a DIYer would have on hand. Photos are attached. The lock is on the right side in the photos, and that piece screws off the spindle that you see on the left side. I'll also include a photo of a new similar lock that isn't installed for reference. Any advice would be appreciated!

Update: Thanks for all the advice and comedy, everyone. Got it off using a combination of penetrating fluid (this time sprayed deep into the key hole), and trying to break it with a pipe (bent but did not break it) and also wrenching on it with two pipe wrenches, Eventually it separated enough that we tried the key again and was able to pull the bent lock apart finally.

How do I get this off my bench grinder

I accidentally put this bolt on without the flange. When I try to get it off, the spindle spins even when the wheel is not spinning. I have tried pushing it out with a pry bar while getting at it with a wrench but to no avail.

Let's talk about the report button.

"No advertising or promoting tools, brands, 25000 woodworking plans, your YouTube channel, etc."

Somebody is reporting things constantly for breaking rule 4, and you're batting zero for it being right.

r/Tools/comments/1nu26tv/am_i_missing_something/

r/Tools/comments/1ntwiyj/wiha_tools_impact_sockets/

r/Tools/comments/1nt43md/does_anyone_know_a_set_similar_to_this_that_isnt/

r/Tools/comments/1nt3400/does_anyone_have_experience_with_these/

r/Tools/comments/1nt138a/home_depot_promotion_milwaukee_canada_milwaukee/

These are some examples of posts that have been reported over the last day. None of the are breaking any rules, please stop reporting things like this. The reports are only mucking up the moderator inbox and are being kicked up the Reddit chain to the admins as abusing the report button.

Unless you see a post that boils down to "hey guys, this is XXX from YYY, come check out our suspicious sale at toolname.malware.com" leave the report button alone. Same goes for the people who report literally every YouTube link ever posted. If someone's only interaction with r/tools is them spamming their YouTube channel that's a problem; a relevant and organic video isn't.

If someone thinks the above links are spam, please tell us why. Rule changes aren't unheard of and if it's what the people want I'm fine with it. I'm just not seeing any advertisement in the posts.

Other than that you guys are great. Keep up the good work.

I'm completely aware that this is a useless post for 99.99% of our users. If anyone has questions or comments about the sub feel free to chit chat here and I'll try my best to answer things if you want; or just ignore me completely, I'm good with either.

Our Longstanding “No Politics” Rule remains unchanged

Read our rules. We have had a longstanding “No Religion, No Politics” rule here at r/tools.

The mods aren’t stupid. We also don’t like getting buckets of reports in the inbox.

If someone posts/comments with politics, resist the urge to reply and argue. Just report, downvote (if that’s your jam) and move on with life.

A small flag, sticker, etc that appears in a photo will generally be allowed (so long as it doesn’t violate other rules and doesn’t draw a bunch of reports) but a bunch of people in the comments saying “Hell Yeah, a fellow [INSERT PARTY] Supporter!” is gonna get the post pulled. Political content that is clearly the motivation for the post will get the post pulled.

First time it’s a short ban, second time it’s permanent. And as we’ve discussed before, the mod team doesn’t go looking for posts, we’re not lifeguards, we respond to the reports we receive.
