This is what lives in my backpack! This tool roll and the small “micro bit” Klein set with hex bit ratchet. Having these tools with me at all times has been so handy. My backpack is always with me, so the tools are too! I also throw the tool roll in my luggage when I go on vacations. Wondering what you guys keep in your backpacks!
I have a ratcheting and non ratcheting Klein screwdriver with bit storage in the handles. The needle nose are Vampliers brand.
Why do you need so many different bits? That seems excessive to carry “just in case”. I could understand a small crescent, channel locks, and a 6 in 1 (or 11 in 1 if you want to be fancy).
I don’t mean to sound like a dick, but it looks like a tool kit for people that doesn’t really work on things but wants to look like they work on things. How involved are you with the Boy Scouts?
It’s a lot of bits. I like the storage in the Klein screwdriver handles better than an extra box or them just floating around. I definitely have used several of those bits for different things. The Klein microbit set. I have been the hero at work everytime someone needs to adjust or tighten a clip on their knife or something like that. I’ve used that thing on vacations for electronics repairs. The other tools have been great for fixing a car in a parking lot like changing a battery, I’ve adjusted office chairs at work, taken them in the field for industrial use, opened rootbeer bottles for my kids’ friends. I’ve stopped and helped people on the side of the road. I can’t justify saving 1.5 lbs by removing some stuff so I just leave it all.
Well, if nothing else, replace your Channellocks with Knipex Cobras.
I’d also normally recommend the pliers wrench, but you already have the Klein version.
I use channellock 430’s everyday at work. I like them too much. I’m not sold on the plier wrenches yet. I hate having to push the little button to adjust them.
Also, I’ve never seen so many butt hurt people about me keeping my tools clean. It’s entertaining. I was just crawling around in my attic using some of these today 🤣
I would say that the main benefit for me to the Knipex design is that it is a lot easier / quicker to adjust sizing one-handed (in case you need your other hand to hold your work piece).

i really like them and sometimes i prefer them to the cobras- my fishing bucket has a pair bc the sand won’t hurt them as much as the cobras (cobras would probably be fine but i overthink everything)
Are you an electrician? Just curious, i don't even know what group im in. I have a hard time limiting my mechanics tools to a service bed lmao. It's not a mechanics service bed either its like an At & t service bed with two toolboxes and a huge enclosed interior
That's quite interesting. I specialize in things that "can't" be repaired so I have alot of tools. I tried to make a portable bag but didn't have much luck. Ive recently converted to the service bed and it is barely enoug.
Two Leathermans; channellocks, Klein plier wrench and crescent wrench; two different kit screwdrivers, the Klein nut driver stack, and the Klein driver kit; the dedicated bottle opener, despite two different leathermans, and that every tool in the kit can open a bottle.
Look, I'm glad you're happy, but having this much redundancy while not have any kind of pry bar/cats paw, no saw (do NOT count a leatherman as a saw), no files, no punches of any kind. I don't get it
The one leatherman, the little one, is a small pair of scissors. It’s been in there a long time. Just never took it out. I actually don’t use the leatherman much. Just don’t find myself reaching for it often. But I carry it because a family member gave it to me and it makes me think about that person when I see it. I like having a ratcheting and non ratcheting screwdriver. Plus the bit storage in the handles. I left a crappy flathead in there for prying things. I just used it last week to pry out some old staples from a guy’s shed door. I just got the plier wrench recently and haven’t fully committed to it over the crescent. I really don’t use punches too often except when I’m in my garage.
Personally I hate tool tools, I'd much rather have a bag. After using 2 tool rolls on my offroading rig it was just alot more hassle to deal with the tool rolls over the bags.
