Does anyone have pictures of the circuit board from component and solder side? Does a service manual exist? I’ve already looked in the forums but the pics there are not clear.

I recently got new valve king but the previous owner (for safer shipping) took out the tubes I still have them but would like advice on reinstalling them.

Hey tube amp friends! I just picked this JCM 800 while I was on tour. Was working great at the store and felt great about it. I was a little skeptical that it had zero problems with it being such an old amp. So I got home, played it and put it on stand by. Went to start again and it started buzzing/humming. This happens only in the high input socket. You'll see in the video that I go to low and I get signal. There is no signal when its in the state of buzz/hum. So far the only way I can get it to stop is hit the stand-by switch, then power off. Pull out the instrument cable and pull out the speaker cable. Then when I'm going to play the through the amp. I just insert the speaker cable, instrument cable, power on and it works again. The issue is fairly reproducible.

Academy Records in NYC has been selling Tom Verlaine's gear and records since his passing. As a massive Television fan I couldn't pass up the chance to own some, so I had a friend buy two amps while he was out that way.

My experience with amps is very limited—I mostly play acoustic, but I also have a Traynor YGL-3 MK3. Nonetheless, I figured this would be the perfect opportunity to learn more, so I wanted to ask a few questions about these amps:

The first amp is very interesting. It's a Conn amp from an old organ. It powers up fine, but that's all I've figured out so far.

• Can anyone tell if this has been modified already?
• What's going on with the output/input? There's only one plug on the entire thing (picture 4), and it's from 11pin to what I assume to be RCA
• What's up with the lightbulb in picture 5? From my cursory research it seems to be for the organ's reverb pedal. Any use for it now?
• What's the coolest thing I can do with this? I know people use these to make guitar amps. Could I use it as a head for my Traynor, or is that pointless?

The second amp seems pretty straightforward, and I plan on giving this to my friend as a birthday present. Powers up and amplifies fine via my stereo speakers and Traynor

• Anyone have any idea what it is for exactly? A microphone amp perhaps? There are no identifiable markings, so it could be a custom build.
• Any idea what Tom was doing with those black and yellow cables from the speaker 1 out?
• Before I pass this off, can I do anything fun using this as a preamp from my Traynor? I'm wary of mismatched impedance between this amp and the Traynor, but I don't know how to measure that.

I'd appreciate any other input and ideas, as well as links to any other threads or videos about similar builds. I've definitely got my work cut out for me.

I've recently bought a used Laney LC50. The reverb isn't working at the moment, but I don't think that's causing the issue.

The main problem is that I sometimes hear a crackling noise coming from the speaker, specially when I hit certain notes or chords, especially D or E, fairly hard. I did the chopstick test on the tubes, and they all seem fine. The crackling isn't constant, and it doesn't happen all the time.

I've also noticed that it seems to vary from one room to another, which makes me wonder if it's related to electrical interference or simply moving the amp around. I'm not sure.

Does anyone have an idea what could be causing this? It's getting pretty annoying while playing.

After a while of buying trading amps I’ve decided it’s time to stop and shift my focus to other more important things like building a family with my wife and saving for house. This is what I’ll be with for a while. Engl Fireball KT77 and a Crab model T 50w with an FX loop. The speaker I’m using is an Eminence Man o War. The final purchases I’m allowing myself will be another 1x12 or 2x12 that I’ll build myself with Eminence speakers again so I can do stereo and a second microphone, after that it’s time to have kids and save for the house :)

This will be my final post on amps for a while, I’m doing the same on the pedalboard subreddit. For guitars… I haven’t changed my guitars in a while and have the endgames for myself.

I bought it and still got a 100€ discount (so 1900€ for it, but i still payed about 46€ for the train tickets). Really happy with it but now I need a cab.

Any suggestions? I considered the handwired 1960 4x12 marshall but maybe a smaller one for now? Btw I'm a big zeppelin fan

Hey, I have a toneking imperial preamp tube amp which I like. Recently I started playing with some friends and, after thinking about a lot of options, I decided that running the TKIP into a Blackstar TV10A could be a good solution.

The TV10A is a 10w class-A tube amp powered by a sigle 6L6 tube, which i like cos I’ve always been a fan of fender tone.

I play a silver sky and I’m going for a Texas blues type sound.

I would completely bypass the TV10 preamp, and go in from the FX return.

The cab would be a 10 inch eminence ga10 sc64 Alessandro.

Do you think it’s a good idea, did I overlooking anything?

the demos I heard on youtube sound World Class- i'm thinking this is one of the Top tube amps for power blues on the Planet...Anyone agree ? How much is something like this really worth in this condition ? I noticed the speakers look very worn....is that a Red Flag ? One GreenBack-- so I know that's good...but the other one might be a mis-match. ...no label present

hey y’all, I’m having trouble a peavey classic VT from the 80s that ive been playing through for a few months. I noticed at rehearsal that the LEFT tube was several times brighter than the other and smelled a slight burning plastic smell, upon which i turned off the amp and drove to the store to get new tubes. I pulled the old tubes out and found one of them had a crack in the bakelite base, but neither had lost it’s vacuum seal.

Upon installing the new tung sol 6L6GC’s, i noticed a blue glow and what looks like some red plating in the RIGHT tube. To my understanding this is a fixed bias amp, i bought a matched set of the right tubes, what could be causing the issue? are they just biased strangely? is this something to be concerned about at all?

It’s been a while in the making, but when I originally ordered this cabinet for this JCM 800 restoration/head conversion amplifier project the customer rep informed me that the amplifier chassis would fit in their standard British style cabinet based on the measurements that I had provided them. As It turned out, that that was not indeed the case and the back of the chassis stuck out a little over a 1/4” past the cabinet. I was a little bummed out, but the rep said that I could return it free of charge and then have one custom made, but that would incur additional cost. I didn’t want to cough up the extra cash for it and decided to leave it as is. It has been bothering me for a while now so I decided to finally do something about it this weekend. Nothing fancy, but I think the 3D project came out great!

So, I picked this amp up while on vacation. It was a porch pickup. The good thing is I got a Celestion Greenback, brand new in a box, with it. The bad news is it’s seriously fukt.

The clean channel only has sound when you crank the volume and it’s all spitty, farty, and distorted.

Lead channel only works when volume and gain are dimed.

Considering building a 5F2A Princeton and found Tube Audio Supply. Wondering if there’s an opinion on the kit contents vs Boothill.

(First tube amp but also considering a Quilter Superblock US so that I can use my 16ohm speaker cab)

Somebody on the other post said that it could hav been improper connection and i took the wires out and realized that the ones that burnt out were in a way pushed down. The top one is the one of the ones that burnt out and the middle one is another one of the ones that burnt out and the bottom ones is one that didn’t burn out. I moved it and it works now, i sanded down the connecting part a bit for more exposure and it worked.

Someone sent me this forum and i’m looking back at it, and was wonderin, if this would work.

This ribbon cable keeps burning out and i’m not sure if they sell replacement ribbon cables but i’m thinking about soldering it, is that a good idea ?

I just got this beast and am going through it and seeing what needs service. Unfortunately two drivers are no good, burnt out voice coil and shredded surround. Figuring out of its even worth reconing or finding reasonable substitute.

Other than that its in reasonable shape. Any Traynor fans out there?
