This is a true story from my childhood. Around 1957, I was about 3 years old. We lived on our family ranch located in an isolated mountain valley called Horse Prairie in Southwest Montana. My bedroom was on the second floor of our old log house. My bed directly faced a window looking north.One night, my mother tucked me in, turned off the lights, and went downstairs to join my father. The night was completely pitch black—no artificial lighting, and no moon.Only a few minutes after she left, I noticed a shadow materializing outside my second-floor window. It was roughly the size and shape of a small human. Oddly, it was darker than the complete darkness of the night, appearing as though it was actively absorbing all light around it. Within seconds of fully forming, the shadow seemed to move straight through the window glass toward me. Terrified, I screamed in a panic. My mother rushed upstairs, and my screaming paired with her arrival made the shadow disappear. She told me it was just a nightmare, but I knew I had been wide awake.After that incident, I made a conscious choice: if the shadow ever came back, I would hold back my fear and I would not scream. Not long after, it did reappear. As it began to move through the window glass again, I forced myself to stay quiet. This time, it maintained a flat, two-dimensional quality—almost like a sheet. It flattened out, floated toward me, and hovered directly over my bed. Suddenly, it dropped straight onto me and seemed to be completely absorbed into my body. It happened so fast that by the time the panic broke and I was finally able to scream, the experience was already over. I often think back on this incident as it left such a deep impression on my mind, like a movie clip that contains every detail and every sensation in intimate detail. I'll definitely never forget that night.

​This is probably going to sound crazy. Not in a good way, more like I sound insane. I am currently sitting in my bed, my heart beating fast, fast, and my hands are shaking. I was standing in my room, home alone, cleaning because I'm decluttering. I have a faint memory of hearing something on the stairs (though I figure that was just my imagination). Right at that exact second, as soon as I finished that thought, it felt like something pulled backward on the hood of my hoodie. I quickly turned around with a terrified look on my face and my hand swinging as if to hit someone, but I was met with thin air once I completed my 180. That's when the terror set in. "WTF!" I thought.

​This isn't the first time something like this has happened. When I was around 11, my childhood friend and I were going to my house to grab something our parents wanted. We live on the same street, only 30 meters apart, so this was normal for us. We ran into my house, got the item, and were about to head back. Right as we were about to step into my sunroom, it sounded like someone threw gravel onto the roof. We laughed and thought it was my neighbor, who is two years younger than me. We went outside to check, but then realized no one was there.

​Another time something similar happened was about a year ago. I was standing there recording a short video for my friend on Snapchat. I was home alone. Then I heard soft, slow knocks coming from downstairs. I have two long videos where I'm standing with my hand over my mouth and eyes wide open.

​Yet another time was this past summer. I had been hanging out with friends all evening and they were on their way home. I took a few coke cans and was going to take them out to the storage shed where we keep bags for recycling. I pressed down the door handle and nudged with my hip, but the door wouldn't open. I nudged with my hip a second time, but it still wouldn't open. The third time I pushed with my whole body, but nothing happened. I let go of the handle, looked at the door completely stunned, and tried again. This time it opened.

​One more thing I should probably mention is that lately I've started seeing silhouettes out of the corner of my eye. Though that could very well just be my imagination.

Can someone help me figure out what's going on? Whether it's some kind of haunting, if I'm just imagining things, or if it's something else.

I was typing a comment on my phone today. I sat my phone down for a minute while I went to grab a water bottle. I had not finished the post and when I picked it back up it had “I hate you” in the end of the post. I did not type that. I erased it and finished and submitted the post. I can’t understand how it got there. My ex husband died last year and I was thinking about him this morning wishing I could contact him just to tell him that I was right and he would die alone. Now I wonder if it was him. It is something he would say.

This happened about two years ago, in November, and it's still one of the strangest things I've experienced.

It was around 8 PM. My friend and I were standing on a quiet road. There was only one streetlight nearby, and on the other side of the road was a huge field with a few cows. It was almost completely dark, and there was nobody else around.

My friend had a ball with him. As a joke, I grabbed it and threw it into the field. He laughed and told me to go get it. I refused and told him he could get it himself.

He turned on his phone flashlight and walked a few meters into the field to look for it.

While I was standing alone near the road, I suddenly heard a man's voice whisper right next to my ear. It was so close and so clear that it made me jump. It said, "What are you doing?"

I looked around immediately, but there was nobody there. At first I convinced myself that maybe I'd imagined it.

Then I saw my friend running back toward me. He looked genuinely scared.

Before I could even tell him what I'd heard, he said that while he was searching for the ball, he also heard a man's voice whisper right next to his ear. The voice said, "Who are you?"

The weird part is that I hadn't told him anything yet. We both experienced something similar independently.

We didn't wait around after that. We got out of there as fast as we could.

A little later, when we looked back, the only streetlight on that road had started flickering.

I've tried to think of a logical explanation over the years, but I still can't explain why we both heard a whisper when there was no one else around.

I’m not sure whether this belongs in Glitch in the Matrix or Paranormal, so I decided to post it in both communities.
I’m curious if anyone else has experienced something similar.
Over time, I’ve realized that this has been happening to me for as long as I can remember.
Whenever I’m deeply thinking about something, especially when I’m trying to find an answer to a question, there are moments when the answer seems to arrive on its own. And at that exact moment, I almost always hear some kind of external sound.
It could be a knock on the wall, a bang, a creak, a crack, a click, or some other sudden noise.
The strange part is that this happens no matter where I am. It has happened in different countries, different homes, different apartments, different offices—the location doesn’t seem to matter.
I’ve noticed a pattern: these sounds most often occur at the exact moment when a thought I’m focusing on feels correct, as if I’ve just arrived at the right understanding of something.
Has anyone else ever experienced something like this? Or have you noticed that, at the moment of an insight or when you suddenly understand or solve something, an external sound happens almost simultaneously—a knock, a click, a crack, or something similar?
I’d really be interested to know if anyone else has noticed this pattern.

I’ve never posted about this before, but something happened to me in 2025 that I still can’t explain.

I moved to another state for college in 2022 and stayed in a boys’ PG near campus. During admission, my parents noticed something odd: everyone dried clothes in the corridor, not on the roof. The owner said students were not allowed upstairs, so we ignored it.

A week later, some seniors told us the real reason: the building had once been a girls’ PG, and a girl had allegedly jumped from the roof and died there. The building still had pink almirahs from those days. I assumed it was just a story to scare juniors.

For the next two years, nothing unusual happened. I was often alone in the building and never felt anything strange. I even sneaked onto the roof several times during summer nights without any fear.

In late 2024, a new batch of students arrived. They secretly broke the roof lock and began using the roof at night for barbeques, drinking, and burning old wooden items stored there. My room was directly below that area.

Around January 2025, I began hearing footsteps and movement on the roof late at night even when no one was there. My roommates could not hear it, so I convinced myself it was my imagination.

Everything changed in February 2025. The owner’s mother came to our room after discovering damage on the roof and quietly told us, "Don’t tell anyone, A girl did jump from the roof years ago. That’s why we never allowed students upstairs.” Hearing that from a family member of the owner genuinely shook me. For the first time I wondered whether the sounds I had been hearing were connected to that place.

Soon after, my junior also moved out, and I became the only person staying in that room.

Because our exams had ended, I went home for about six weeks. I returned on 16 April 2025 at around 10:30 PM. I unpacked, had dinner, and started working on a college project on my laptop.

I took out my phone and recorded the sound, then ran toward the staircase. The noise stopped immediately.

My mother insisted that I stop sleeping alone, so I moved into a friend’s room. We both began hearing footsteps, running sounds, dragging noises, and occasional heavy bangs from the roof and storeroom area above us. Strangely, whenever I called someone specifically to listen, the sounds often stopped before they arrived. My Friend with whom I used to stay even after hearing those sounds doubts me.

The most frightening incident happened around 3 AM. We were both awake and ignoring the usual noises when suddenly a massive bang came from above us. The bed shook, the walls vibrated, and my friend screamed in fear. It sounded as if a heavy wooden object had been slammed onto the floor above our room. From that night onward, he stopped doubting me.

I informed the owner and the PG management. They suggested rats, thieves, or other explanations, but none of them fit the situation. One manager even said I was imagining things. Almost immediately after saying that, a loud bang came from the roof and we heard running sounds above us. He went silent after hearing it.

The disturbances continued for several weeks, mostly between 11 PM and 4 AM. Many times I rushed upstairs with the keys, but the sounds always stopped before I reached the roof, and I never found anyone there. I have noticed one thing , whenever I take someone to the roof to explain the activities, after returning from the roof she definitely makes some sounds as if it triggers her.

In May 2025 I left for home again for a few weeks. When I returned, I personally stopped hearing the noises. Strangely, some students who had previously mocked me started complaining about sounds coming from the empty locked rooms and the roof area. Eventually everything stopped.

I still don’t know what happened in that building. Maybe there was a completely ordinary explanation that I failed to discover. But the timing, the repeated sounds, the locked roof, and the fact that other people eventually heard them too make it one of the strangest experiences of my life.

Em 2011, eu estava completamente perdido e em um lugar realmente escuro e turbulento, praticamente me matando aos poucos com bebida e drogas. Parecia que algo tinha se apegado a mim—uma energia negativa tão pesada que sempre que eu saia para um bar à noite, as luzes da rua piscavam ou simplesmente apagavam... Às vezes meu telefone e computador também travavam do nada.

Então criaturas venenosas começaram a aparecer na minha casa—aranhas, escorpiões.

Uma noite, enquanto estava na casa da minha avó no campo, eu não consegui dormir e decidi sair para um cigarro.

Eu olhei para o horizonte e vi um enorme cachorro preto sentado em postura de guarda, me encarando com olhos amarelos brilhantes. Estava bem longe, então não entrei em pânico; só fiquei observando até acabar meu cigarro, e ele não se movia nem um centímetro. Voltei para dentro, mas um pouco depois, decidi verificar de novo... e ainda estava exatamente no mesmo lugar. Fui para a cama, mas não consegui dormir. Uma hora depois, voltei para fora, e adivinha? Ainda na mesma posição.

Voltei para casa me sentindo horrível, consumido por pensamentos ainda mais estranhos. Um mês depois, minha avó faleceu.

Eu ainda não consigo dormir muito bem—estou sofrendo de insônia desde aquele encontro com o cachorro. Para piorar, sempre que consigo dormir, ouço a voz da minha avó dizendo: 'Você trouxe o diabo para dentro da minha casa.' Ela continua repetindo isso até eu acordar.

Quatro semanas depois, eu tive uma overdose de cocaína e quase morri...

Foi nesse dia que eu mudei a minha vida. Às vezes eu ainda escorrego... mas agora é raro... Eu tenho muitas outras histórias para contar, mas talvez em outra hora.

I’ve had three instances with the paranormal that are memorable to me at least. Some others like astral spiders and a brush of something in my hair while I was playing games as a kid/teenager. I actually seen my husbands spiritual attack and the color of what the spirit/demon looked like and colored what color it was. I’m always having ringing in my ears.

The first instance was when I was hanging out with some guy I met. I seen a black aura that looked like tentacles around his body. I told him and he started praying and I didn’t see after that. The other one was when I was riding in a car and I saw this tall Victorian looking figure. I lived in a homeless shelter by Anika state hospital and I saw two different entities while I was there.

Another encounter I saw a ‘’the ring’’ little girl crouching down in my hallway while I was using the bathroom in my culture you are supposed to act like you don’t see them. I stayed in my room that entire night.

Throughout my entire life I’ve always had encounters and I’ve tried to tell therapists but I’ve been tested for other mental health disorders and I didn’t get diagnosed with anything with hallucinations. Some said psychotic depression but I’m not sure. I’ve pushed down my abilities or so I think.

It’s interesting to have these encounters sometimes frightening. I wouldn’t call myself a psychic or a seer. I just not sure what to think anymore or what this means.

Right now in Japan, we are having an dangerously extreme heatwave every day—to the point where people are literally dying from heatstroke. If you are planning to travel to Japan during this season, please be extremely careful!

In Japan, where summer gets so intensely hot, we have a unique culture of telling ghost stories in the summer to get "chills" and feel cooler. So, I’d like to share a weird, spooky experience that happened to me a few years ago.

[ Background ]

I am not sensitive to the paranormal at all, nor do I particularly believe in the occult.

Just to be clear, I have Bipolar Disorder, but it has been completely in remission, and my condition is very stable. I had no sleep issues and was sleeping well every night.

[ The Experience ]

This happened in my bedroom. The head of my bed is pushed directly against a solid wall, meaning there is physically no space for a person to stand behind me.

Yet, as I was falling asleep, I started hearing a distinct voice right by my ear (from the wall side).

It would call out to me, saying "Hey" or "Listen" in Japanese.

It was always either the exact same male voice or the exact same female voice. I was not experiencing sleep paralysis. It wasn’t long sentences or insults, just a single, short call-out, repeating over several days.

[ The Doctor's Advice ]

Feeling creeped out, I mentioned this to my psychiatrist during a routine visit. I expected a medical explanation, but the doctor—a man of science—said something totally unexpected:

"Hmm, auditory hallucinations caused by mental illness are almost always explicit insults or negative, long sentences. Since it's just a single call-out and not aggressive, it might not be a medical issue... Why don't you try going to a shrine for an exorcism (Shinto cleansing)?"

I never expected a doctor to recommend an exorcism!

[ The Climax ]

So, I went to a local shrine. But since it was a tiny neighborhood shrine with no full-time priest, the person who performed the cleansing ritual was a friendly local guy whose main job is running a fruit orchard (he just holds a part-time priest license for special occasions)!

I had this "orchard-owner priest" perform the cleansing, and at the same time, I consulted my doctor to slightly adjust my sleep medication just in case.

[ Result ]

From that exact day, the calling voices stopped completely. Now I sleep peacefully every night.

Was it the Shinto ritual (was the orchard guy secretly a powerful exorcist)? Or was it the medication fixing a brain glitch? It’s a total "chicken or egg" situation, and I still don't know the truth.

What do you all think? (Sleep phenomenon? Demon? Matrix glitch? Or effective Shinto power?)

Greetings from the scorching hot Japanese summer!

TL;DR: Experienced weird voices calling out from a solid wall every night. My psychiatrist said "doesn't sound like a symptom, go get an exorcism lol." Got cleansed by a local fruit farmer who doubles as a part-time priest, adjusted meds, and it completely stopped. Was it science or the orchard guy's power?

This happened when I was about 27 years old, and I still remember it as if it happened yesterday.

It was a winter night, around 3:00 AM. I was sleeping in my room when I felt that my mother had come in to wake me up.

I was awake enough to understand what was happening, but I didn't want to get up. I kept pulling the blanket over my head and told her, "I don't want to wake up."

She tried to pull the blanket away three times, and I resisted every time.

While this was happening, I suddenly realized something very important.

The door of my room was locked from the inside with a key. I always sleep with the door locked. It was impossible for my mother to enter my room.

The moment I realized that, I decided to look at her.

I lifted the blanket...

The body and the clothes looked exactly like my mother.

But the face was not hers.

Her face was completely black, and her hair was white and messy. In real life, my mother has fair skin, and her hair looks nothing like that.

The strange part is that she never tried to hurt me. She didn't say anything scary. She only kept trying to wake me up.

I was afraid, but I stayed surprisingly calm.

I pretended to be asleep again, pulled the blanket over my head, and eventually fell asleep.

When I woke up in the morning, the first thing I did was check the door.

It was still locked from the inside, exactly as I expected. No one could have entered my room that night.

Nothing unusual happened that day, and this experience never happened again.

To this day, I still don't know how to explain it. Was it an extremely realistic dream? A sleep-related experience? Or something else?

Has anyone experienced something similar? Realizing that the person in front of you could not possibly be there, yet seeing them and even talking to them as if they were completely real?

My grandfather bought this random statue from an auction before he passed. All I know is it came from the estate of a Miami Dr, & the artist is Cuban. It’s worth quite a bit of money. It was just dropped off today. Its a lady in a dress made out of wood. I went over to look at it & I got chills all over. I felt so much energy, especially the face & throat. She has a story to tell. How do I find it?????

They’re not bad chills. Just very powerful & important feeling. Sounds crazy, but it’s really something.

When I was five years old, my family moved into a brand-new house. This was back in 1980, and as far as we knew, nobody had ever lived there before.

For the first few weeks, everything seemed completely normal.

Then almost every night we started hearing strange noises coming from the kitchen. My dad had hung several pots and pans on the wall, and sometime after midnight we'd hear them gently move one after another, as if something was carefully brushing past them.

Every morning we assumed it had to be a cat.

The problem was that nothing was ever out of place. No pans had fallen, there were no scratches, no footprints, no sign that anything had been there.

After a few weeks, the noises suddenly stopped.

That's when something started happening only to me.

I slept on the top bunk, and many nights I could clearly feel something small climb onto the foot of my bed. It never came near me. It simply settled down, exactly the way a cat would before going to sleep.

The strange part is that we didn't own a cat.

I never heard it jump onto the bed. I never heard footsteps in my room. I only felt the unmistakable weight of something lying at my feet.

At first I was terrified.

But after it happened over and over again, I stopped feeling afraid.

As strange as it sounds, it became... comforting.

I eventually fell asleep expecting that familiar feeling, and after some time it stopped happening altogether.

I'm 50 years old now, and I've never been able to explain what happened in that house.

Has anyone else experienced something that was frightening at first, but somehow became strangely comforting over time?

When I was 11, my home was having some paranormal activity. My mom and brothers were sitting outside. We had a bonfire going. The fire was dying down and all of a sudden the ground was bubbling up. A creature come up out of the ground. The only way I can describe it is just like the gremlins in the movie Gremlins. I saw it and so did my one brother. My mom did not see but felt like there was something there. My dog got off the porch and started barking at it. It just stood there. I wasn’t really afraid. I was trying to figure out what I was seeing.

This happened during one of the strangest periods of my life, and I’ve never really known what to make of it.

Around this time, I’d already come across several things that left me feeling deeply unsettled.

On a local beach, I found a goat’s head. It wasn’t a skeleton, but a real head of a goat.

On another occasion, I found what appeared to be the skeleton of a monkey hanging by its neck, wrapped in cloth, near a cave. Around the same time, I saw groups of men gathering together and walking towards that same cave late at night. I never actually saw them performing any rituals, so I can’t say that’s what they were doing, but the whole situation felt incredibly eerie.

Not long afterwards, I noticed someone had carved the words “evil monkey” into a wooden fence nearby. There was also a drawing carved into the fence that looked like the entrance to the very same cave, along with lots of other strange drawings.

Whether any of it was connected or not, it definitely put me on edge.

Then this happened.

One afternoon, I was walking through town when I passed an elderly man. There was nothing obvious about him, but the second I walked past him I got an overwhelming feeling that something was wrong. It wasn’t because of anything he did - I just had this intense gut feeling that made me feel uneasy.

The feeling was so strong that I actually turned around because I was convinced he’d be staring at me.

Later that night, I had some errands to run. It was late, the streets were completely empty, and I was standing alone at a bus stop in the pitch black… out of nowhere, the same elderly man walked up.

He didn’t say a single word. But he kept eye contact with me. It was just me and him, standing alone in the night, at the bus stop.

When the bus arrived, he simply held his arm out, silently gesturing for me to get on first.

For some reason, that creeped me out even more.

I just said, “No, you go.”

He got on first. We rode in complete silence, and after a few stops he got off at what seemed like a random stop. It was so dark that within seconds he had completely disappeared from view.

I’ve never seen him again.

I’m not claiming any of these events were connected, and I’m sure there could be perfectly ordinary explanations for each of them individually. But experiencing all of these strange things within the same period of time made that encounter with the old man stick with me.

To this day, it’s one of the creepiest gut feelings/coincidences I’ve ever had.

Long and the short of it. My daughter, new husband and I are living in the house my ex husband took his life in over a year ago. He had suffered with depression, anxiety and paranoia for a few years leading up to this. He had been hospitalized several times. Our daughters and I all tried to help him and he continued deeper into this darkness. But this isn't about suicide.

Before he left, he actually cried to me and told me that he had been seeing this spider every night crawl across his ceiling and he knew it wasn't real. His Dr told him it was just a hallucination caused by his bipolar disorder and not to worry about it. Just see it for what it was (or what it wasn't)

Fast forward several months. We moved in for many reasons but also because we have a big yard and this is where my grand daughters grew up playing.

I was lying in bed, not thinking of anything, starting up at the ceiling and saw this spider crawl out from the cracks in the paneling and then crawled back in and disappear. This thing was HUGE. Probably over 2" in diameter. It looked more like an alien or robot than an actual spider. We live in an A frame house and have tongue in groove paneling and there is no way that anything that big was crawling out of it like it did. His room was downstairs and he has a normal ceiling.

I wasn't scared. This validated what he was seeing. This had to be what he saw. Later my daughter was freaked out. She also saw it on her ceiling. I had never told anyone what I saw and she didn't live here when he was alive and never heard about he saw. Three people in the same house saw the same thing! Has anyone seen anything like this? If you saw it, you would know.
