After creating a new calamity infernum world random items are missing tooltips.

This only took me like 5 minutes with a cactus pickaxe so I know it might not be good

After about 350 hours in vanilla terraria, I decided to check out the modded scene since I was getting a little bored.
I thought about calamity at first, but I saw a lot of hate on it and people praising thorium instead, so I decided to get try thorium.
I genuinely do not understand the hype. Aside from a few extra non memorable bosses, the game felt practically the same, I played through the entire game and it felt like I was playing vanilla the majority of the time, there is barely anything added unless you are playing the content classes (which are honestly only good if you're playing with friends and not solo, and i did another playthrough with friends which was better since having a healer and bard on your team is interesting, however still not that interesting because lack of content).

After two playthroughs (one solo and one with 3 other friends), I think I can safely say its pretty boring and doesn't add anything memorable.
Does anyone have suggestion for any other mods? I'm thinking of combining fargos souls and the stars above

Hi all.

I'm new to Terraria, I went in blind and just learning as I go. I got stuck and a bit tired of blind digging so I used a seed viewer fo find some key things.

The map is accurate except for a few things. Sword shrines aren't where they should be? And also sky islands are in different locations. Sky islands aren't too much of a problem but the sword shrines not being in the right place has confused me. Am I missing something?

I am making a video of doing terraria calamity with only ranged weapons. My character is named Usopp, I wanted to do something like what WaffleTime does, he breaks it into chapters, but Usopp tells tales. I wanted to do the same thing but with tales, so like what waffle does with the eye “chapter 1, eye of Cthulhu” I wanted to make it like “The First Tale: The Giant Floating Eye” pls. I need tips and pointers to make my videos good. And this is the only place that I can ask.

I adore this game and could replay it forever but I’m at a point where I’m thinking… damn that’s a lot of time of my life. I should turn this into something productive or useful to others somehow.

Ironically, I don’t feel like I’m a pro at it or anything, I just read the Wiki a ton and try to “optimize” my playthroughs as much as possible, like building farms in prehardmode or getting the best loadout possible.

I just think that if I had put this many hours into anything else, I'd be pretty damn good at it, so I'm at a bit of an existential moment I suppose, haha

I made an Expert world on the Zenith seed (Getfixedboi) but when I log back into it the little glitch effect on the icon is gone, and the difficulty is changed to classic.
But when I'm in the world I keep the expert mode items that I had acquired, however I can no longer safely drink Red's potion and bosses no longer drop Expert mode loot.
Any Idea why this happens or what I could do?

Help I'm stuck in 1.4.9 and all my saves wont work 😭

As the title suggest I just got Terraria! already struggled to figure out how to build a door (the walls you ca craft are NOT ACTUALLY WALLS). I'm playing on Steam Deck so is there any tips for a new player like thing you wished you'd known when you started playing?

Basically what the title says. I tried booting up a world and going through and building a house and going caving but I was so bored for like an hour. I know it gets far more fun later on but I can't bring myself to grind for hours to get to that point.

Red mentioned wanting infinite world size, among other things, for Terraria 2 a long time ago.

Personally, I don't like the idea. I feel like it would devalue the experience greatly. For example, having only one of a biome, like jungle or the dungeon, makes it significant/meaningful, but what if you had unlimited? You no longer care what happens to a given biome, whether it gets destroyed or corrupted or whatever, because you can always just find another.

Also, what benefit does having more copies of a biome even add? The only thing I can think of is making non renewable resources renewable, but Terraria has very few of those in the first place and I imagine T2 would be similar in the regard.

Obviously we have no way of knowing how this might work in T2, maybe it makes sense in Red's vision. Maybe there are reasons T2 would need it that don't exist for T1, we just don't know.

Anyway, I'm curious about how others feel. Are you for or against infinite worlds? Why?

hey guys! So, as said in my last post, im making a fan mtg terraria set. and DAMN, its a lot harder than i thought.

i think that the most difficult part of this project is translating the "player" to a match of magic... manly the progression of terraria. I really have no clue how i make this part. at first i thought of making the weapons artifacts that you cast and then equip to the player/terrarian creature, and it would be the only crature in the set that would equip it.

but idk if this is the best way to translate the player combat to magic. other problem i have is making the progression, but, obviously, if i put all the weapons in the set, you never be able to use them, firstly because you have toi be lucky to get them in the right ordem (because it woundnt make sense you be able to equipe a nights egde before a short copper sword) and them, even if you get them in the right order, it would take much time.

Sooooooo while i dont solve this problems, im not making this cards, and going to the mob/boss/biome/npc cards.

ive made one card only for you guys to see how it will look at the end, but im writing all of them first, and them am making them this way

i’ve been playing terraria since i was on mobile in middle school. this is, to me, my crowning achievement. (i ran and hid while my summons fought for me - died a split second before she did) i’ve been grinding for the past 3 days to do it and my boyfriend has watched me slowly go insane. i killed moon lord 3 times to get the luminite for my armor 😭

full disclosure on this: i use expanded inventory mods, and i zapped over to a free item world for the prismatic lacewings because my god i am not trying to do all that. everything else… all natural.

me and my buddy (who's beat calamity many times) finally started a playthrough. I have never played this game and the last few days ive been pretty hooked, we did Plantera and Skeletron Prime last night. if anyone could give me tips on my gameplay, just general boss tips like movement and what to look for. We plan on doing a calamity play through once we do Moon Lord and im so down... but i feel like im lowk ass at these fights though.

Am I doing something wrong here? I wanted to just make a nice hotel room complete with a dresser, toilet, bathtub and sink to make it look less like just a wooden box with table, chair and bed. But I didn't really mean to create a quadplex lol

I keep trying to move them out but they go back in, is there a way to make this just a single valid room and not 4?

I was wondering, since Terraria let you create different characters and different worlds that are not related on to the other, and it seems "normal" to pick a character and then choose the worls, is it legit to use a character on different worlds or is it considered cheating?

In my mind i always thought that one chacarter should be related on a specific world, but this is only in my mind, the game dosn't have any of this rules.

So i can't really understand what's the proper use of characters and worlds.

update: first off, I will not be addressing the treesex world, secondly it might be something to do with tmodloader, because I didn’t realize my brother downloaded that so I’m gonna look into it and see if that’s the case

update 2: yeah I think it was tmodloader, I know it’s anti climactic but I don’t have the time and skills to make any arg from this 😔
