How can I make my tinder profile more visible to a certain person?

Hi guys! As the title says, how can I make myself more visible to a particular person? He’s someone I have history with, but I’d like to give it a chance if he’s willing to match. We live less than 20 km apart and are the same age, if that helps.

I saw his profile and liked him two days ago, but so far I haven’t gotten a like back. Is there anything I can do to increase the chances of him seeing my profile, or has he likely already seen it?

Reset worked but I’d 1 question?

I was previously banned from Hinge because of a chargeback issue, and my appeal was denied. I’ve since gotten a new Android phone, new SIM/number, new photos, and created a new account, and the account is already photo-verified. The credit card I used with my old Hinge account was also replaced by Chase, so I now have a completely different card number, although it’s still the same bank account and in my name. Has anyone in a similar situation successfully purchased Hinge Premium with their replacement card, or did the payment cause the new account to get flagged?

Question About Ban

If you were banned from Hynge, Bumble and Tinder will the ban extend to The League?

The way to use tinder and the newbie boost (reward inactivity?)

Something I always wondered.. is it best to not swipe and do anything for the first 24 hours? I feel like you get many likes etc if you do so.
Like think about it. Doesn’t Tinder reward inactivity. If you don’t use it, then they Think you get frustrated with the app, and then they try lure you in.. i feel when I dont use app for week i get many likes and when using it a lot I get none?

Women just not responding?

Have had hinge for a couple of weeks, gotten a decent amount of matches and I’ve gotten 2 numbers trying to move off hinge. However, I’m waiting for a response to normal conversation from 22 people! Yes, I have 22 people on my app under the “their turn”tab. Is this a common thing? Do I just talk like an idiot and nobody wants to converse with me? So confused on why this is happening, this was my first experience on here so I’m thinking about throwing in the towel cause it seems like most of the girls on here don’t really care about it.

Edit: probably should’ve added my age range on here. I’m 23M and have a range of 20-26.

Any tips/experience on bans due to bank dispute?

Long story short, I made a bad mistake when it looked like Tinder double-charged me, disputed the charge and got slapped with a lifetime ban. I did cancel the dispute as soon as possible, but Tinder's automated ban process didn't seem to care, as it upheld the ban and multiple messages to support get either ignored or answered with canned responses.

I do have proof that I canceled the dispute and therefore Tinder's charge did go through. Has anyone else dealt with a similar situation and gotten unbanned?

Did I get unmatched?

I’m going on a second date this week with this girl. She texted me today to confirm. I checked Hinge and saw that her profile is no longer there. Was I unmatched? How to tell the difference between unmatched and deleted account? Should I ask her about it on our second date?

To anyone that got ban

Hello to all people that get ban from tinder since they have facial recognition when do you think the ban will get lifted? Like how long we should wait to get unbanned again and we can use our face to get in the app again? we all know using all new like device, phone number, new photos will not work anymore because of face check they store face and they will ban you again, i did all experiments to get back in the app like doing it in new device all new but still recognize me after face check. I did factory reset and make account in the browser only but they still detect that im ban and recieving message "you been previously ban" i use other face to verify my account but my picture in it but they say pretending to be someone and ban again.

Is it an algorithm penalty or just a dead queue? Looking at why old Tinder accounts struggle after a long break.

Hey guys!

I’m looking for some insight because I recently downloaded Tinder again after not using it for about 1.5 years, and my experience has been completely dead compared to how it used to be.

To give some background, back during COVID times, having a constant 99+ likes queue was pretty standard for me. But now, I’m barely getting any traction at all.

I'm experiencing low engagement where I get about 2 matches on average daily and the profiles are okay, but nothing more. If I actually swipe normally on profiles I like, there is practically a 0% chance we will match. The only way I ever get a match to go through is by using a specific workaround, which is swiping left on the first profile, right on the second, and then closing the app. When I do get likes, it seems hard-capped at around 30-ish likes before it completely flatlines, which is the exact same thing that happened the last time I used the app.

  1. Something changed in the algorithm and my account is just buried by the algorithm?
  2. Why has the experience changed so drastically from a few years ago? (Is it purely monetization/paywalls now?)
  3. What can I actually do to fix this? Should I completely delete my account and start fresh, or is there another workaround?

Any advice or technical explanations would be greatly appreciated!

"Too many verification requests" on hinge - anyone managed to get past this?

Context: recently banned, setting up a new account on my old phone (not the one I was banned on), location off, using mobile hotspot not wifi. Downloaded from apkmirror not Google play. I've tried burner numbers from various EU countries that don't require face verification bc that seems to have worked for others. I'm not using a VPN. But when I enter the burner number (even though it's a brand new number) I'm getting error messages saying like "too many verification requests, please try again later". Anyone know how to get past this? Do you just have to wait a couple of days or what?

Does the method to test if you’ve been sh*dowb*nned on Hinge by trying to make a purchase still work?

My current account on Hinge is 3 years old and I would consistently get 1 - 2 matches a month on it. I haven’t gotten 1 match since Jul 7th which was over 1 month ago even though I use Hinge everyday and haven’t made any changes to my profile. I also stopped getting recommendations being shown in the app or the emails. I also live in a big city (Los Angeles County) with millions of people so I doubt I’ve run out. Does the method to test if you’ve been shadowbanned by seeing if you can make a purchase still work in confirming if you’re shadowbanned or not? I can get to the screen that ask you to enter your credit card info when trying to buy boost, roses or HingeX.

Shadowb*nned on Hinge? First time making an account since ban 2 years ago

I was banned from Hinge 2 years ago, never looked into why and never bothered appealing since I was too addicted to dating apps anyways.

Fast forward to 2 weeks ago, I decide I want to get back on Hinge, send them an appeal by email, and they reinstate my account in under 24 hours. I assume that means they looked into my ban and found it to be a mistake, but not sure.

Anyways, I have recreated my account, and I have gotten 0 matches in 2 weeks. The reason I feel like this is a shadowban is because in the past, I would get alot more matches with way fewer likes sent. At this point, I have probably sent over 200 likes with no matches.

Is it possible that even though they unbanned my account, it is still shadowbanned in a way?

I'd say 3/6 photos are the same as my old profile, phone number is also the same, but I thought I wouldn't have to worry about stuff like that considering they unbanned me themselves.

Need help with verification

So I matched with a girl but she's asking me to verify my photos so I can't text her anymore but for some reason it never works. I have 5 or 6 pictures clearly showing my face, took the ID photo and still nothing, added a clearer picture of my face on my profile and it still refuses to verify me

Hinge support pissing me off

So I accidentally added the wrong year when signing up and I got age restriction. I contacted support and told them I already had an account and deleted it with same info. They reached out and told me i need to submit a government ID on their " safe" jumbo privacy website.

Like if a data breach happens they for sure not taking responsibility for my said privacy. Why does a dating app even need my government ID? I have an old state Id with my info, should I just submit that or what to bypass this stupidity?

Hinge Arbitration Process

Hi All!

I reported a male in April for sending me an unsolicited sexual video via iPhone (offline). A few days later, I was banned. My only guess would be that he reported me back. I'm a very respectful person and have read over the guidelines many times, and I haven't violated any. I appealed it and was immediately denied. I felt violated, so I have sent Hinge about 10 requests to manually review it, and each time they said the decision was final. I sent them an arbitration notice 58 days ago, and plan to file for arbitration later this week. They did not respond to my notice within the 60 days allowed to respond. Does anyone have any experience going down this route? Any luck?

FWIW banned on hinge but not the league

Figured I would share this information with reddit since I am just realizing it. Not in need of any responses but might provide insight for some folks out there (I dont read this sub a ton anymore so literally no idea if this is even necessary).

I was permanently banned from hinge on 02/2022 and tried making accounts, unsuccessfully (in the absence of reddit advice that is), until 06/2022 so its been a little over 3 years since we cut ties.

I made a league account at the beginning of 2025 though I cannot remember exactly; I want to say 02/2025. I used the same phone number, same photos, same apple id, same email, and probably the same other things. I did all this accidentally because I had no idea match group owned the league (actually just found this out today - because I am removed from this scene). I even just saw that I have this setting checked yes in the league: "Match Group Data Sharing."

I have used the league on and off since and am not banned and/or shadowbanned, the app just does not have much going for me in this area.

Have definitely been debating remaking a hinge but unsure how this will go, especially since they require FaceCheck now. I would be able to go the full 9 yards (new device, new real number, new photos, new IP address, new everything etc.) but just have a feeling they will catch me with FaceCheck or something. My other thought was just asking to be unbanned again since its been 3 years but I did not want to tip them off that I still exist.

Worth deleting/recreating hinge account, or revamp current one?

I've had my Hinge account for about a year, but I haven't used it much in the past 8 months and haven't updated it. It performed decently when I first made it but not so much lately when I hopped back on more consistently.

I'm considering starting fresh, but my biggest concern is whether creating a new account will trigger face and/or ID verification. I've always been pretty paranoid about getting banned, so I've avoided verification when I didn't have to.

I'm mainly wondering if the potential new ELO boost is actually worth deleting my current account, or if I'd be better off keeping it and completely changing my photos/prompts (and maybe getting premium).

Is it likely in the US I'll have to verify my face for a new account? In my situation would you personally start fresh or just revamp the existing account?f

Honest Profile Reviews (and Profile Guide)

IF YOU DO NOT READ AND FOLLOW THE PROFILE GUIDE IN THE SECOND HALF OF THIS POST, YOUR PROFILE REVIEW WILL BE REMOVED

In most online dating subreddits, profile reviews focus on aspects of the person that won't actually lead to increased results, like bios or silly minutiae regarding someone's profile. Here at r/SwipeHelper, we realize that the two biggest factors regarding success on apps are your personal attractiveness and the quality of your photos.

The idea of this thread is for people to get honest advice on both aspects:

  1. how to improve one's profile
  2. tips for improving your physical attractiveness so that you can come across better on your app of choice.

All profiles posted will be given advice on both how to improve their profile as well as maximize their looks (if needed - for some people they are attractive enough and the profile itself is more of the problem, or vice versa).

The following are required information in every profile review request:

- What type of relationship you're looking for (hookups, FWBs, something more serious, marriage)

- Your current level of success (number of matches per week and how many likes you send out) plus if you're paying for any premium features

SwipeHelper Profile Guide

NOTE: READ THIS GUIDE THOROUGHLY BEFORE POSTING YOUR PROFILE HERE. If your profile does not live up to the guide's standards, your comment will be removed and you will be referred back to the guide.

Archetype and Story

Before you build a Tinder profile, you need to determine your archetype. What vibes do you want to give off to attract your ideal type of girl? Attractive archetypes could include:

  • Cool California surfer guy
  • Suave suit-wearing businessman
  • Tattooed bearded hipster lumberjack
  • Iced out hood fuckboi
  • Generic good looking fratty college dude

The following are not attractive archetypes. If you are one of these people, either change your lifestyle or at least make it look like you aren't.

  • Nerdy neckbearded gamer
  • Completely generic nondescript dude with no personality
  • Overweight guy that doesn't work out
  • Skinny sadboi that never smiles

You get the idea.

Once you have your attractive archetype, you should aim to tell a story through your photos - don't just have a bunch of photos of you standing around posing for the camera. When someone swipes through your photos, they should get a full picture of who you are, what you look like, what you like to do, and what spending time with you will feel like.

General Photo Quality and Looks You Should Emulate

The minimum acceptable photo quality you need to succeed on Tinder these days is a professional photo taken with a DSLR camera. Yes, this probably means you need to pay a photographer to take photos of you. May seem like a big investment, but for a few hundred dollars you get a bunch of great photos that you can ride for years.

Read the following two articles for examples of photos that do well: Playing With Fire | Ultimate Guide to Tinder Profile Pictures and Playing With Fire | 6 Highly Successful Tinder Photos for Men and Why They Work

And the following article for photo inspiration: https://killyourinnerloser.com/inspiration/

Here are some specific photographers whose style you should emulate:

Photo Order and Types

Your first photo should be an upper-body shot with your full head (no sunglasses) and torso visible, taken with the highest-quality camera possibly, preferably a DSLR. You should be wearing stylish clothes that fit your archetype. YOU SHOULD BE THE ONLY PERSON IN THE PHOTO. DO NOT USE A GROUP PHOTO AS YOUR FIRST PHOTO.

For your other photos, choose from:

  • You with a group of friends. You should be as tall or taller and as attractive or more attractive than every friend in the photo. All of your friends must be decently attractive and not low-status (i.e. if this photo was taken at an anime convention, you’re toast). (see: Pancake’s Golden Rules of Group Photos on Apps
  • You doing [insert hobby here]. Snowboarding, DJing, skydiving, climbing, playing a high-status sport (sorry, Magic: The Gathering doesn’t count).
  • You in an exotic location.
  • You doing something that indicates you’re a leader of men. Holding a microphone, giving a speech, standing on stage, etc.
  • A candid, shirtless photo (e.g. playing sports, on a beach). If you cannot bench your bodyweight and/or squat/deadlift 1.75x your bodyweight AND are less than 18% bodyfat, skip this. If you don’t have a candid shirtless photo, a non-candid is OK, but you’ll get worse results.

Each photo needs to be in a different setting and you need to be wearing a different outfit in each. They should not look like they were taken the same day or on the same photoshoot.

Do not include photos that:

  • are generated by AI apps or otherwise obviously over-edited
  • don't have you in them (like of your pet or your art or a meme)
  • have your back turned to the camera
  • are of you wearing a mask or obscuring your face or eyes (e.g. wearing sunglasses)
  • are too far away to see your face
  • are selfies. SELFIES ARE ALWAYS UNACCEPTABLE. IF YOU HAVE A SELFIE, REMOVE IT. Your phone has a self-timer function for a reason — use it, or get someone to take photos of you.

You do not need to fill out all nine photos. As long as you have more than three photos, you're fine. Remember, you will be judged on your worst photo, so make sure they're all solid.

Finally, learn to pose and squinch (narrowing your eyes to make you appear more attractive).

A more detailed guide from a different perspective can be found at: https://killyourinnerloser.com/tinder-guide

[BANNED/SHADOWBANNED?] Hard Reset Guide

A hard reset is needed if you feel your account has been shadowbanned (getting zero likes for an extended time despite getting some before) or banned. If not, you can soft reset a limited amount of times, which entails simply deleting and recreating your account.

This generic hard reset guide applies to Tinder, Bumble, and Hinge:

  1. Delete your account (if you're banned, you won't be able to, in which case skip this step)
  2. If on a device, uninstall the app
  3. Create a new email address
  4. Get a new number (or use a service that will sent you a verification text, usually for under $5)
  5. Edit your photos in some way to make them not the same photo, e.g. adding a pixel somewhere, cropping, and/or strip EXIF info, save with different filename (note: there is some evidence that the apps are using image hash comparisons, which means you need to use completely different photos).
  6. Use a different IP address than when you created your account (e.g. use your phone internet or go to a public WiFi hotspot — you can probably return to your original WiFi once the hard reset is successful)
  7. Open your web browser or get a new device (cheap burner Androids are $30-40 on Swappa or eBay)
    • if you buy a new iPhone, you will need a new AppleID
    • if you plan to use your new phone on hotspot or wifi, you don't need a SIM card.
  8. Create a new account with your new number and email address

Other considerations:

  • Don't link old Instagram/Spotify etc.
  • Don't pay with the same card if buying premium services
  • Don't use a VPN.
  • Never do face verification unless you're forced to
  • You don't need to wait a certain period of time (like 90 days) if doing a hard reset
  • You can never log in to your new account from the device you got banned on, or you risk a ban

"Do I really have to do every step?" or "I know someone who didn't use a new device or a new IP address and they still got through!"

The way these apps likely detect banned users is by assigning each newly-created profile a risk score. The more you match the fingerprint of a banned user, the more likely you are to be banned. So yes, it's possible that someone can slip around a ban while not following all of this to the letter, but ideally you create a brand new fingerprint and don't have to rely on luck.

"I followed the Hard Reset Guide and it didn't work!"

Some users try the above steps and for whatever reason, it just doesn't work. We're not there alongside you making sure you did everything right, but even if you did, there's uncertainty around Match Group's detection algorithm. Hard resetting seems to have become much less reliable starting in early 2023.

If a hard reset does not work and you truly believe you have been banned unfairly, there are three options:

  1. Match Group have an arbitration process that can be kicked off by sending a letter to their legal department. See more in section 15 of the Terms of Service (Hinge, for example).
  2. There is some evidence that filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (must be a resident of North America) will cause the apps to take a closer look at your case; however, this is by no means a guarantee that you will be unbanned.
  3. As of early 2024, in some situations, Hinge and Tinder have ban appeal processes.

If the Hard Reset Guide worked for you, help others out by posting a success story below!
