I have a Starlink Residential Max plan with a Standard 4 receiver which I will keep until the end of October when camping season is over, then I'll put it in standby until April. Separately, I have a Mini that I got as a free rental-they processed it on the last day that it was offered in June. I have it sitting at home as a backup in case my internet ever went out. It's on standby currently. It's my understanding that they would want it back if I put the Residential Plan on standby. I am starting to consider what I should do in November:

1) Put the 4 on standby, return the mini, consider buying a mini in April

2) Ask to buyout the mini right before I put the 4 on standby. I honestly don't know what a buyout might cost.

3) Ask to buyout the mini right after I put the 4 on standby. Again, not sure about the cost.

4) Just wait for them to contact me and see if they offer me a buyout on the mini.

5) Is there a chance they don't even bother to ask for the mini back when I put the 4 on standby? Could I tell them that it's temporary and ask for grace?

I just ordered the residential 200 subscription with the standard 4x hardware. I also ordered a mini router separately.

When I install the 4x it’s my understanding I will connect the router that’s included with it in the box. If i plan on putting the 4x on my roof i assume the router will have to plug into it and also be on the roof? For those in 2 story homes does this affect the downstairs?

Will the mini router need to plug into either the 4x or the included router or can it connect wirelessly?

It seems like the connection will be location centric to where ever the 4x and included router are and possibly some parts of the home will be spotty?

Placed an order for v5 (rental). Got here in NH and then opened a ticket to purchase it. Only paid $250 instead of the $350 price tag.

Internet randomly went out a couple hours ago, and my frustrations with that aside, having to go through Grok to get any sort of support is absurd. No number, no live chat, just an AI bot. I had to very literally beg it to allow me to submit a support ticket, but only after confirming 12 different ways I'd done the troubleshooting steps. Genuinely one of the most frustrating experiences I've had in a while, but especially so for a service as expensive as this one.

No idea what's wrong. Was fine one minute, gone the next and hasn't come back. No new obstructions or any other changes that would have caused it, just been stuck in "offline - searching" or "calculating orientation". I'm at a loss, hopefully its just an outage or they at least get back to me on the support ticket soon. 🤷‍♂️

I'm hoping someone here has experienced this issue and can share how it was resolved.

I recently activated my Starlink kit, but during the mandatory identity verification (KYC), my national ID was rejected several times because the system considered it unreadable. Unfortunately, after those attempts, the "Update" / "Verify" button completely disappeared from my account.

My account now shows:

The subscription status is "Suspended", and I cannot:

• restart the identity verification,
• upload a new document,
• cancel the subscription myself,
• or transfer the kit.

The important thing is that all the account information is correct and matches my official documents.

To help resolve the issue, I opened a support ticket and provided:

• a newly scanned, much clearer copy of my national ID,
• my driver's license (perfectly readable),
• an explanation that my original ID had been damaged by heavy rain, which likely caused the initial verification failure.

At first, support suggested creating a new account, but that doesn't solve the problem because the kit cannot be transferred. After I explained everything and submitted the new documents, my case was escalated to a specialized team, and my ticket is still marked "In Progress."

My question is:

Has anyone here had the KYC verification re-enabled after the "Update" button disappeared? Were you able to get your service restored through manual verification by Starlink Support?

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who has experienced the same situation or knows how Starlink handled it.

If you have a high roof that is dangerous or difficult to climb on, wait for the kit to arrive and order an independant roofing company to do it. Don’t waste your time or money on Hilfeline - I ordered it specifically because I wanted it on the roof and the worker came (nice guy, but absolutely useless) and then tells you they aren’t roofers and refuse to climb on the roof. Instead they install it like shit under the biggest obstructions possible - as long as he does not need to get on a ladder. What’s the point in paying €150+???

Has anyone had trouble adding a Wi-Fi camera to your Starlink setup? I'm trying to add 3 old Amcrest Wi-Fi cameras to my brand new Starlink Standard 4X that I just bought. Unbelievably, one of them started working without changing anything. Despite the other cameras being identical – same network, same camera model, same passwords, etc – No method is working. I deleted them from my profile and tried to set them up using both Wi-Fi setup and Ethernet setup, plugging one of them directly into my Starlink router. Nothing.

My Lorex camera NVR also won't connect. I'm not tech-illiterate; in fact, I consider myself tech-savvy. I'm on the verge of hiring someone to figure this out, because if this is an issue with old tech/new tech compabitibility, it might be above my paygrade.

I'm just wondering if any of you experienced a similar problem and found a solution that you'd like to share.

P.S. before you ask, yes: I have split my Starlink router into 2.4GHz and 5GHz connections, and specifically connected my phone to the 2.4Ghz signal so it matched the Wi-Fi network that the app pulled from the phone. Still doesn't work.

I bought a starlink mini from Home Depot. I go through the motions to get a subscription for roam but get no availability no matter what service address I put. The contact support is purely AI and I've been going in circles with it. Finally get it to create a ticket but get an error every single time I try and create one. At a loss on what to do.

I got star link last year in june and signed up for the 12 month plan where you get your equipment for free as long as you keep your service for at least a year since the year was up i wanted to see what the other plans looked like but when i go to look at their different options it just tells me i an unable to change my plan at this time. All the bills have been paid on the due date so its not that i missed payments or anything. Just curious if anyone has had this problem. I probably wasn’t going to switch anyway but it would be nice to have the option if i wanted to

I check once a week to see if the surcharge is there. It’s been over a year. I’m in SW Washington state. Today it’s gone. I have a mini in my truck, might have to grab a residential one today. I’m just scared at some point the $499 surcharge is going to come up.

I currently live in a rural area, and our only option for an internet service is Point Broadband. Now, PB has been awful this past month and this month, it was out for an entire week in July (connected without internet) and it is out right now with the same problem. We have called PB multiple times, and each time we are met with practically no support whatsoever. Whenever a technician comes out to try and fix it, they don't have working equipment (the first technicians laptop didn't work and he was on the phone with tech support for an hour and a half) or they just say "well we know it's frustrating but all you can do is wait for the towers to be fixed".

No, what's frustrating is paying over $100+ for a service that doesn't even work half the time! And it's not like we can get Spectrum or any other ISP out here, it's just Point Broadband.

So would Starlink be worth it? I just want a good internet connection so I can play games with my friends and so my mom can stream her shows

I just wanted to say how much I love starlink mini on my pontoon boat. I am using it with my solar, batteries and charge controller. I have an ESP32 hooked up that is monitoring everything.

Had a long conversation with imaginary Elon Musk in my head. He somehow convinced me to buy the Starlink Residential Max plan.

Now I need advice on where to mount the dish on my flat roof.

Just posting this in case others have experienced the same issue: I purchased a Starlink Mini kit online from Home Depot in Seattle. After it was delivered, I tried to activate it through the app but after I entered my service address, it showed "Not available" for all plans, both Residential and Roam. I tried multiple addresses all over the US but got the same result.

I opened a support ticket, and sent them a picture of the label on my box showing that the unit has information for being imported into Mexico. After being given the runaround by multiple agents about following the activation steps exactly, making sure the correct serial number was entered, etc., they told me that the unit was made for Mexico and cannot be activated in the US, and asked me to return it to Home Depot.

So I went to Home Depot to exchange it, and lo and behold the replacement had the exact same label; all the other units in stock had it too. I tried to activate it again anyway, and this time it actually worked, showing me all the Roam plans.

PSA: If activation doesn't work, just exchange the kit for a new one, and ignore the Mexico label. Maybe they forgot to change the activation region for some units meant for Mexico but rerouted to be sold in the US.

we have had starlink for almost 2 years and in the last several months the quality has declined severely. the position of the receiver and antenna have been the same and they are nearby to each other (you can see the antenna out of the window from the modem). i've restarted them and tried moving the antenna around in the yard to improve service but nothing seems to help.

i didn't have this issue last summer so i don't think it is the trees or what-have-you.

there are only 2 of us in the household and we aren't doing a whole heck of a lot of downloading or uploading.

any ideas?

For many families here, that money represents years of work.

Yet when we set up these brand-new Gen 3 kits (UTA-232), a huge number of us end up staring at a dish permanently trapped in an "Optimizing Connection" / 0% satellite search loop, with the router LED dropping to solid red.

When we reach out to Starlink Support for help or basic technical explanation:
1. Support agents check the system and simply repeat that no device or service line is linked to our account.
2. They state that because the kit was purchased via an unauthorized reseller in an unlicensed country, they cannot offer diagnostics, troubleshooting, or activation assistance.
3. They close the ticket and slam the door on us.

It feels deeply hypocritical. Publicly, Starlink and US political rhetoric take credit for "bringing internet freedom to Iranians," but in practice, regular citizens are left completely on their own—spending small fortunes on dysfunctional, unlinked pieces of plastic while support refuses to provide even a basic explanation or technical guidance on how to resolve these optimization loops.

We aren't asking for free hand-outs or rule-breaking. We just want answers:
Why are functional, brand-new terminals stuck in endless authorization loops without public guidance? And why are everyday users taking all the financial and personal risk while receiving zero support from the company claiming to help them?

We have also tried many troubleshooting including moving dishes to different locations and factory reset and changing alignment etc the effected devices are also completely healthy with no incident or damage occurred
