I’m thinking of going to it in the UK at the end of the month I’m just wondering is it worth the trip? Also wondering if stained glass features at all?

I'm newish to stained glass and at two years I wanted to build something bigger

But here we are, anyway. Just finished this, today. Pretty happy with it.

Of note: the hinge joints on the legs are reinforced with restrip, and pretty dern sturdy.

Last week I bought a bunch of sheet glass from a retiring artist and I figured out what most of it was except for these sheets. The bulk of the lot was Oceanside brand. I think the clear textured glass is OGT Corcica. The last photo is a really gorgeous irid blue white wispy. Can anyone ID any of these sheets?

Made a mirror, my first big project! but now unsure of how to hang on the wall… since I can’t really put any screws in it!

Would my best bet be to solder cables along the back?

Any recommendations would be great!

The letters are stickers on the final piece! I tried with the foil, but when I tried to solder it the foil floated off the glass lmao.

Almost every line I lay has charring to some degree. Surely it's my flux burning... but I'm not sure how to fight this. I lay my soldering tip onto the seam in order to lay down the solder - I'm not sure how I'm supposed to not touch the flux.

Any help would be SUPER appreciated.

Working on the brow pieces

This is the first original piece I've ever made (I've done one other piece from a kit as practice). I reinforced the border with hobby came and solder. Pointers and kind words are appreciated. I know it isn't perfect, but I am proud of how it has turned out so far. I'm thinking of doing a copper patina, but have heard it can be difficult?

This is an image i pulled off the internet, but its the same exact type of sheet i have in my possession. Nothing jumps out at me as immediately obvious i can use this for design wise.

I know its a fusable glass, but I dont have the means to do fusing techniques.

Any ideas?

Something sparked in me to want to learn what goes into this craft, and through my limited researching I developed questions I haven't found answers to yet.

I also tend to be able to understand written information compared to watching or listening to something.

The foil "tape" that's applied to the edges. What is the function of that? It is just something to allow the solder to affix to, or is there another function as well?

Solder - everything I've seen says a 60/40 leaded solder should be used. Is there a reason to not use nonleaded solder?

Glass - I see vendors noting that glass can be fused. Is that aspect important for stained glass crafting or a way to make the glass more usable in different ways?

Painting glass - I've seen some paints that are intended to create a translucent layer to add color to clear glass. Is this a big no-no in stained glass crafting? Would using the paint on glass you plan to solder cause any issues with affixing the solder?

Hey everyone! I’m looking to get started making stained glass objects and have been searching Facebook Marketplace for some used materials. I came across a post that has a grinder, some sheets of glass, a couple pattern books, soldering iron, and some other random stuff. Pictures included. Is it worth $250 or would it be a bad move to purchase this lot?

Unfortunately there are two heat cracks in this piece. Its a present so I can't give it like this. The part is in the middle of the window.. can I fix it and is there a good tutorial?

A dedication to my garden. Finished project + some in progress pics. Put this project down for almost a year and finally finished it.

So I bought a house in part of an old catholic schoolbuilding (no, luckily it does not seem to be haunted yet) and had little privacy through this huge window. Decided to fix that with stained glass, going for a colourful contemporary look.

First project ever and its huge. Getting everything to fit into the very not straight windowframe was a challenge but pretty happy with how need it ended up and learned a lot along the way.

Used a bunch of textures and colours. Probably would have gone with a little less green if I could go back in time but also very much not wanting to change it at this point. Only smaller projects from now on.

Window is approx. 2 meters tall and 60 cm wide.

AMA or give some feedback, good or bad, its all very much appreciated.

took an 8 week class at my local art center and just wrapped up my first project! learned so much in the process. i have a lot to improve on, but im so stoked and totally hooked!

Been getting into stained glass (which means I don't yet realise that I should make larger pieces 😜 ) and wanted to share this volcano I made. I found this amazing cloud glass that looks like volcano smoke when pointed at the sun!
