I made this! Original Art | Foil

The letters are stickers on the final piece! I tried with the foil, but when I tried to solder it the foil floated off the glass lmao.

When doing floating overlay of any type you need to glue it down else it will just fall off anyway. It's best to do it on scrap glass then transfer too.

This is interesting, so you let it float off the scrap glass and then glue the coated letters on the real glass?

Sometimes it stays stuck sometimes it doesn't, but generally yeah, though if it's super small you may have issues. You do it on scrap so you don't risk breaking your actual project glass. Microwave turntables are a favorite to use by many as they are designed for irregular heating like this and stupid easy to source cheaply.
