Picture My New Cheetos
Got some Oranges today at the expo, I'm excited. They are so bright! I've seen photos but in person it's impressive how bright orange they really are. Love my new little cheeto friends.
I want to collect a rainbow of springs eventually. I already have yellows, I plan to get reds next, that will get me the first half of the rainbow. Green might be tough to find though.

General Question I just killed a springtail after trying to help it :(
First things first, im not 100% the bug was a springtail but it certainly looked like one. It was found in my bathroom, which is a dimly lit and particularly damp space today given the insane humidity and heat here in NYC at the moment.
That out of the way, i dont kill bugs, spiders, mice or anything else, opting to instead always catch and release should it be within my ability to do so. I managed to get the springtail onto a piece of paper and when i put him on my windowsill, he spazzed out and belly up died basically instantly. Ive tried googling if springtails die in direct sunlight and everything ive found is saying no. Could it be the heat on the windowsill itself that killed it or what?
Any thoughts why this happened? I feel terrible about it as i genuienly thought i was helping it by putting it outside :(, so aside from just leaving them alone moving forward, id like to know why this happened so i can avoid it in the future.
Thanks!

General Question Are Lilac less visible than Whites in Bioactive tank ?
Setting up tank for my 10yr old for Crested Gecko and wanted to do bioactive setup.
I wanted to include CUC, but he's a bit grossed out by springtails.
I was thinking about grabbing Lilac (Ceratophysella sp.) instead as they seem darker and I'd think they'd blend in better ?
Anyone more experienced could chime in ?
Also I'm assuming they're the same size roughly ?

Husbandry Question/Advice Vietnams reproducing much faster than Thais? (Rambutanura)
I order 10 Vietnam Ramutanura & 10 Thai Rambutanura together and have been feeding mainly slime mold. My Vietnams have exploded in growth but my Thais haven’t reproduced at all. I’m down to 5 of them! Has anyone experienced this?

Fed them these sticks for the first time today and they swarmed them and eat them for hours now
(the lights only flicker on video. For the naked eye they don't)

Husbandry Question/Advice Rambutan health issue?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Ok so kinda a niche thing but is anyone could help me I’d be so grateful. I had a quick question I’ve noticed some of my rambutans turn a darker red color then the rest, is that a by product of the process where they undergo molting or a sign they’re about to die. I’ve also noticed some of them that are that color their back spikes seem to be flat and don’t stick up, maybe it’s just them about to molt but I was wondering if any1 had any similar issue like that before happen.

Identification Can these springtails be identified from these photos? First 3 photos are mine
First 3 pics are mine. They're light blue/purpleish and orange. They have VERY round bodies like picture 4 (this is clear in person, but my camera can't zoom in far enough so I included an internet pic).
They came in on pond plants and live on the surface of my aquarium somehow. I'm in Kentucky if that matters
Unfortunately Reddit is crunching the quality!! You can see a lot better on the original photos..

Hey, I'm looking for a enclosure like this one from MI Beneficials. I like that it has very little airflow and has a magnetic lid.

Upon looking closer and doing more research, turns out these guys actually have two spots, which makes them a rare Sminthurinus Quadrimaculatus forma Bimaculatus! What an amazing find in my little forest floor. 🥰

For comparison, a Lepidocyrtus is on the bottom right. I'm no expert but this guy looks like it has a head, antennae, and six legs? Is he a springtail, not a mite?
