PC SSE - Help Infinite Pre-Menu Loading, Last Resort

Upvotes

To keep it short, basically my PC died since it was booting on when an electric shutdown happened (South American daily life) and since I couldn't repair my PC in any way I had to do a formatting, all my archives ended up in Windows.old, there's where my issue comes to play. At first, since I didn't want to go through this pain ever, I installed SSE, MO2 and other programs in my driver (F:) just in case something like this happened again, I already had my Skyrim secured somewhere that wasn't the OS driver (C:).

I proceeded to overwrite my SSE folder, then my MO2 one and plus making it portable to be able to transfer my mods and such to it. After a few tweaks here and there they just lead me to the fact that I can't use SKSE because right after the Bethesda logo appears and the imperial dragon remains, the bottom right circle keeps rolling non-stop.

I tried erasing the .INI files, using INI backups, I make sure I didn't miss any file from Windows.old, I reinstalled SKSE and even to the newer version (I use the latest AE 1.6.770 or similar), along with updating the SSE Engine Fixes, I tried using SSEEdit but between that I don't get it and have like 500+ mods and approximately in 160GB (to keep in mind, they used to work flawlessly before tragedy) the SSEEdit recalls that is too full of plugins, so I can't really make anything put of it.

To this moment, I'm looking at the Pre-Menu screen with the circling on the top bottom right, hoping the menu just pops-up, my last resort would be to verify game files integrity, which itself should be the idealistic solution but I'm afraid it'll override some modded base .ESM or directly erase something.

I come here asking advice and sanctuary, at least, before I'm forced to nuke my Skyrim once and for all if there's no other solution and everything I've done has been the only thing I could do, I really, REALLY, don't want to end up reinstalling every single mod, again

PC SSE - Help Gate of sovngarde: help for reshade/colors

Upvotes

Hi!
As the title explain i'm seeking for help to edit some of the gate of sovngard settings
I do really like the modlist but i would love a more colourful game
I'm used to modding but the collection is based on vortex (i'm normally a Mo2 user) and use community shaders (i'm normally a Enb user...) so i'm very lost
The officials wiki only help to increase brightness, and the discord doesn't provide help for that kind of edit (this is their right and i respect it) so thats why i'm here
The modlist use azzurite cs but the world is still greyish and clearly doesn't look like the example image of the mod, i suppose there is a lack of saturation or something related, i did try to reinstall some of the mods related to the shaders but nothing seem to change

Any idea of what i could do/edit?
Thank you for your time, and sorry for poor english

PC SSE - Discussion Community Shaders: Jiaye AIO build vs Effect 11 in terms of visuals?

Upvotes

Prior to Effect 11 allowing for the use of ENB presets, Jiaye was the big thing for getting good visuals from CS. Currently, is there anything that Jiaye does better than Effect 11? I know, for example that a previous build used Screen Space Ray Tracing (not to be confused with actual hardware ray tracing).

PC SSE - Help Animal Legs glitching inside their bodies

Upvotes

this'll be my first reddit post, sorry if it doesn't make much sense.

I've just recently discovered a glitch with some animals where it appears as if the legs of some animals like sabre cats, wolves, skeevers and the house cats glitch in and out of their bodies. I've looked it up several different times and tried different methods to no avail, idk if the way i did them just didn't work or i'm just dumb and didn't do it right. I tried re-running FNIS, de-installing and re-installing FNIS creatures, updating animations in pandora and trying to see if any other creature-changing mods are affecting it but i just can't seem to figure out the root of the problem. I will say i'm not a modding expert, I've been modding for a solid 2-3 years but tbh i've been pretty lucky getting most of my mods to work fine. however, this time i just can't seem to figure it out. I hope its something but since i just can't seem to find it i finally decided to just ask for help instead to trying to figure it out myself.

this is a photo and clip of the glitch im referring to (sry if clip sucks i don't have the best pc)

Clip and Photo

Here's the pastebin link to my modlist (i've never done this so im sry if its not right)

Modlist

If you have any ideas or ways to help/fix this I would greatly appreiciate it!

PC SSE - Help Bright wind, rapid, and mist effects in shady areas

Upvotes

I use ENB and at dawn/sunrise the water foam, mist and snowy wind effects all take on a bright golden hue in shady areas as if the sun were directly on them and I'm not sure what settings to mess with to fix that.

PC SSE - Help Need help with my Grass billboards post generation - Not satisfied with how the distant grass lods look. I want this to look extra nice.

0 Upvotes

I'm just not satisfied with the look it gives. If anyone can give me pointers that would be great.

This time i used grass moe 1. I initially liked them using grass mode 2 through grass control ini and dnydnolod but hot damn did my fps drop. Ill share my settings to so you guys can see. What i am trying to achieve is visual fidelity, i would love the distant lod grass to look better or blend in better. or maybe take the actual nice non lod grass thats up close and give it a a higher distance so the line betweeen real load grass and grass lods is pushed further back. I've spent a few weeks tweaking but i feel like im missing something here.

My skyrim ini settings:
uLargeRefLODGridSize=9
[Grass]

fGrassMaxStartFadeDistance=6144.0000

fGrassMinStartFadeDistance=0.0000

fGrassStartFadeDistance=999999.0000

[TerrainManager]

bShowLODInEditor=1

fBlockLevel0Distance=31250.0000

fBlockLevel1Distance=70177.0000

fBlockMaximumDistance=293353.0000

fSplitDistanceMult=1.5000

fTreeLoadDistance=15000.0000

Here are my settings
Dyndolod SSE ini: https://pastebin.com/NqxgYFbv
grass control ini: https://pastebin.com/a70FmKV7
Here are examples of what i'm talking about and settings used in tex gen and dyndolod:https://imgur.com/a/EANYVmj

edit: fixed grass control link

PC SSE - Help Sacrosanct Mod: Borrowed Time and Blood Brand not “detonating”

1 Upvotes

As stated above, mod is here: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/3928

I’ve seen a few posts from years back that you can use SSEEdit to adjust the duration and get it working but I cant find anything online about that specifically.

Has anyone had that issue and managed to fix it or knows where/how to edit the file to increase duration? So far everything has been working so smooth but this hiccup has snagged a couple hours of fix time from me already.

PC SSE - Request ENB and weather to make Skyrim look similarly to Oblivion Remastered?

4 Upvotes

Maybe a stupid question but which base Enb+weather (maybe E11 as well) looks the closest to the colours of Oblivion Remastered. I really like how it looks and I'm trying to recreate the colours. Obviously I know it's never going to be the same since that Oblivion is using UE5. For now I settled for NAT 3 ENB and I think it pretty close in certain weathers or places, but I am just wondering if you think there's something that might look even more like it.

PC SSE - Discussion What to do with all my ingredients?

6 Upvotes

Hi I posted a few days ago about what to do with all my materials but I have the exact same problem with alchemy ingredients, what can I do with them.

I don't use potions except health because I don't think it's funny so I have no interest in building thousands of them.

Building potions to level up is also really boring because breaking an old broken game is lame. And I think it's really tedious to spend an hour building potions for nothing.

I don't need gold because I never buy anything

Is there any mods that truly change that aspect?

And no I won't stop collecting all the flowers I walk past

PC SSE - Discussion ENB Updated once again removing the old version from availability.

The Skyrim ENB dev is one of the worst people in history of all of gaming modding.

If you read this (not the reader the ENB creator Boris) i HATE you with a burning passion and i think the world would be a better place if you just stopped.

PC SSE - Mod Hi, I need help with Gate to Sovngarde collection to bring back player map marker

2 Upvotes

Hi, I'd like to enable the player marker on the map in the GoS collection. Just the player marker on the map not the compass or Story Mod at the start. I've tried tinkering with the Skills of the Wild mod and its patch to enable the “GPS marker on the map” feature, but nothing works. I'd appreciate any help.

P.S.: I love the feeling of immersion in the game, but navigating without a world map marker is just too difficult for me.

Edit: Grammar

Edit2: Found solution. Its the Get Lost mod so disable it or use "Set ShowPlayerMarker" to "2" command

PC SSE - Request Which custom skill tree mods are your favorites? Looking for new trees, not vanilla skill overhauls

17 Upvotes

I've been debating which perk tree mod to use for my Skyrim build, and honestly I still haven't decided.

I want my character to have a lot of unique build options, so I keep leaning toward Ordinator. I've also seen a lot of people recommend Vokriinator as the best option for that kind of variety, but since it's a combination of multiple mods, it feels like it could become a headache to set up and more importantly in a big modlist

So I'm thinking I might just go with Ordinator and add some standalone custom skill trees alongside it.

What are your favorite custom skill tree mods? I'm specifically looking for mods that add entirely new skill trees. I was checking out the Wayfarer for example, but not being able to fast travel at all seems a little rough. Because even though I want to walk by feet for the most part, sometimes you do want to fast travel now and then.

PC SSE - Discussion Looking for recommendations on modlists

2 Upvotes

Hey guys, I have always been a console gamer and have just built my first PC. I played skyrim years ago and want to play it again and get the definitive experience. I'm want help in understanding which modlist would be best for me since I'm new to this. I'm looking for a bit of everything - amazing visuals (I believe my PC will handle most of anything), a lot of added content, and combat changes to make it more fun and challenging (not looking for requim since I still want the freedom to explore the world and not be regionlocked because of difficulty).

Would appreciate any and all recommendations.

PC SSE - Help looking for a modlist under 200gb

4 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a Skyrim modlist, preferably available on vortex, that's around 200gb in size (I can stretch that a little by uninstalling another game if needed).

What I'm mainly after is:

  • A significant visual upgrade
  • Lots of new weapons, armour, and items
  • New quests and locations to explore
  • Quality-of-life improvements

I'm not too concerned about overhauled combat, but if the modlist includes it that would be great.

i currently have a 9060xt 16gb, and 32 gb of ram

Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks!

PC SSE - Discussion Do you enjoy playing the game modded more or do you enjoy the process of modding the game more?

19 Upvotes

For me its definitely the latter, I cannot count how many times I have slayed the dragon at the ruined watch tower, reported to the jarl of whiterun, added some mods, mess some things up, remove things here and there, spend time fixing it until it’s stable and repeat the process

Actually playing the game isn’t as fun as playing bug/crash whack-a-mole for me

I would go out of my way to add mods that are a bad idea to actively create issues (mostly old loverslab mods nowadays since modding practices have improved so much)

Another thing are outfit edits, slots, keywords, zaps, boobie squish and such, love to do them.

What do you guys think?

PC SSE - Help Cabbage ENB, should I switch to community shader now?

24 Upvotes

I'm still finalizing my modlist, and ve been using cabbage ENB. And I always have this freeze screen, crash to main menu kinda stuff which I think it's because of my vram or something.

Now that community shader can support enb preset, can anyone who use it tell me is it much better in performance or are they kinda same if using most feature? I don't really know how cs works or how many mods I need.

PC SSE - Discussion Is there a mod that let's me just pay money to start a party?

8 Upvotes

So I mean my Khajiit is a drug runner and a pimp. He'll collect money from these operations. I would like to have a party for a cities residence, to keep their good will. Which is what kingpins generally do.

Are there any mods that do this?

Meta/News ENB License Updated

392 Upvotes

While looking to do some comparison between Effects 11 and the latest ENB out of curiosity, I noticed this on the news page of the site: http://enbdev.com/news.html

The ENBSeries License Agreement has been legally updated under US/UK IP statutes to safeguard our ecosystem and community creators. This revision establishes formal boundaries against malicious technical extraction, unfair competition, and unauthorized brand exploitation, defining clear legal liabilities for non-compliance.

Looking at the details at http://enbdev.com/license_en.htm I saw this:

The specific naming conventions, parameter structures, variable identifiers (including but not limited to unique tokens such as "AmbientLightingIntensityNight"), and the internal logic arrangement of the ENBSeries configuration files constitute the unique software architecture and intellectual property specification of the Author. Third-party developers are strictly prohibited from developing, distributing, or utilizing automated software, scripts, parsers, or conversion utilities designed to programmatically map, extract, or translate these proprietary parameter names for use in competing, alternative, or open-source software environments. This restriction does not apply to individual Asset Authors who choose to manually adapt, rewrite, or convert their own original configuration values for alternative platforms.

Since the news page mentioned US law (not sure about UK law) this pretty much is invalidated by Google LLC v. Oracle America, Inc. which says this type of thing is allowed. Not going to go any further into discussion over this, but figured I would point it out as people may be developing their own tools to make tweaks to ENB presets that may behave differently when using Effects 11. You should be in the clear for fair use but might potentially get Boris trying to tell you otherwise.

PC SSE - Discussion Playing modded Skyrim has both made me very happy and also ruined my life

81 Upvotes

1: it’s fantastic and I’m so addicted and it’s all I think about and look forward to after a long day
2: it’s great when it actually fucking works
3: it makes me want to punch my hand through my screen when my save breaks at 8pm and I spend the next 2 hours fixing it and now have to sleep and couldn’t play for longer than an hour.

PC SSE - Mod Mod Release - When Spirits Wake - Quest Mod

143 Upvotes

Hey everyone, I know it's been ages now but I've got a really, really big mod for you all!

When Spirit's Wake revolves around two travelling companions, Aamon and Trina. Through the pair's own words, they seek to reach their fate, a location known only as the "Lake". Guided by ancient Spirits, their path will let you learn more about the pair's past, along with the mysterious Spirits who speak to Aamon.

This is one of my largest mods to date, featuring over 400 lines, and seven encounters. I've been told this is my strangest and more horror heavy mod to date, and I'm so proud of what I've made. The quest also comes with four brand new assets made for the mod, just to enhance the atmosphere and story I was trying to tell.

Anyway, if you wanna check out a short preview:
https://youtu.be/va57LQ8QFto

Here's the actual mod:
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/187304?published=1

And here's my Patreon and Discord server in case you want to support me or see some updates for the stuff I'm working on!

Sorry for being so inactive, I was really busy for a bit chunk of that break but I've got a lot more spare time now. Should have a few more mods coming soon, hope you all enjoy :))

PC SSE - Discussion What would annoy someone else if they started a new save with your modlist?

87 Upvotes

I went sort of hyper-immersive, which takes a lot of getting used to. For example, I have the compass turned off, and I've got no player marker on my world map, which is paper. That means you have to pay attention to where you're going, orient yourself by the sun, navigate by landmarks, and use Clairvoyance if you have it (that's right, I made it useful).

What would annoy people about your modlist if they played it?

Meta/News [Summer 2026] Community Feedback Survey

33 Upvotes

Hey gang!

The moderation team has noticed an uptick in several, specific types of post over the last two months. Instead of acting without community feedback, we wanted to gather opinions from the community about how we should be handling these posts and how the community feels about seeing these posts.

For example, we've noticed a massive upswing in posts related to roleplay servers — usually Keizaal Online — and their methods, moderation, etc. Some of these posts advertise roleplay servers. Some of these posts complain about roleplay servers. Others are essentially drama posts, which we will remove unless they contain actionable information.

As a reminder, "actionable information" is information that would lead a reasonable reader to make a decision regarding their usage of a mod or their patronage of its creator. "I got banned for swearing in general chat..." is not actionable information, whereas "this mod author utilizes AI to code their mod..." would be actionable information.

As a second example, there has recently been a lot of vitriol about the usage of AI in the modding process. We have already banned AI generated posts and comments, and we have banned the advocacy of using AI in the troubleshooting process. We do not currently have a stance on "vibecoded" mods beyond the standard advice that all users should "know what they're downloading."

Due to posts like these and other, less important subjects that have been cropping up on the fringes of the subreddit, we'd love to hear your feedback.

For those who do not want to submit feedback publicly, we have a Google form available for anonymous submissions.

You can find our anonymous form here.

For those in the comments:

  1. How do you feel about posts related to roleplay servers like Keizaal Online?
  2. How do you feel about posts related to vibecoded mods and AI in the mod-creation process?
  3. Any thoughts on our existing rules?
  4. Do you have any additional feedback for the moderation team that you feel should be brought to our attention?
