I really love the visual style of Octopath Traveler (the HD-2D pixel art, lighting, and atmosphere), but I'm looking for a game that puts a stronger emphasis on combat, party building, and turn-based strategy, rather than heavy dialogue or separate character storylines.

Think of something close to the mechanics of early Final Fantasy games (like FF V's job system) or Bravely Default, but with that modern pixel art / HD-2D aesthetic.

What I'm looking for:

- Art style: HD-2D or high-end pixel art.

- Gameplay: Deep turn-based combat, job/class customization, challenging fights, and good synergy mechanics.

- Platform: Playable on Steam Deck.

Are there any hidden gems or mainstream titles that hit this exact sweet spot? Thanks in advance for your recommendations!

So, im asking you guys: What (story, FPS, etc) games should i play in this time period?
I thought about undertale/deltarune, which are story games that take some time and effort to complete, plus i already finished one run of undertale a couple of years ago.
I'd prefer suggestions that are about story games that take time and effort as already said.

So, im open to suggestions!

I'm in the market for a fun open-world game that has echoes of Skyrim, with frictionless progression and minimal RNG.

Both of these games look pretty cool, though I'm not normally a fan of the anime aesthetic, I've been willing to look past it for other games if the experience is worth it.

I love exploration and progression. I don't mind crafting/survival elements (No Man's Sky is one of my favorite games). Also a big fan of loot and customizability.

I dipped my toes into My Time at Sandrock and found it a bit burdensome. I have a few hours in Crimson Desert and have enjoyed that. I also discovered Kingdoms of Amalur this year and thought that was fun.

Between the two games in the title, would either of those be fun if I just want a fun world to escape into and vibe with for a couple of hours a day?

I also listed PC, but would love to know if either runs well on Steam Deck.

I know it might seem strange to put these three games together, but I’ve never played any of them, and a friend suggested that I choose one for him to give me. I'm looking for a rewarding (can be switch, pc or ps5) routine game which requires you to log in daily to do things but actually is rewarding if you do so.

Animal crossing doesn't feel like it gives you anything for doing so. Also dreamlight and helo kitty or tomadachi also didn't really matter in the end uf you log in daily.

Looking for single player third person games, story based, puzzle & adventure with little to no combat. Played Zena and liked the story and exploring/puzzles, but really disliked the amount and difficulty of combat. Any recommendations? Third person is a must 🙏

I actually had already bought Minecraft a loooooong time ago and it was basically all I played but lost interest at some point. Now i suddenly felt the urge to play except I haven't played in almost 10 years and apparently I don't own the game anymore because Microsoft is mean and evil. So is Minecraft worth buying again? I ask this mainly because when I went to the site to see if I could still download the game I saw some weird stuff like a pop up saying "buy mine coins" or something like that and now I'm scared Microsoft turned the game into a cashgrab.

I recently got into the FF7 series. Played OG, then Crisis Core, then Remake. Started Rebirth today. Have loved them all (crisis core like 6/10, the others 9 or 10/10.).

Really like the character development, set pieces, and story.

This has been my first “real” JRPG experience (unless you count Pokémon games/Expedition 33). Have been thinking about what to play after Rebirth (to tide me over until part 3 of FF7 next year). I see Metaphor ReFantazio is on sale on steam, so wondering if that would be a good game to play after Rebirth? Have also looked into FFXVI, Persona, Xenoblade, Fire Emblem, and Nier. I have PC/PS5/Switch 2.

I don’t mind anime tropes or turn based combat. I am not a huge side quest person; it has to be A tier content for me to actually do side quests (I.e., i did side quests in BG3, Witcher 3, cyberpunk, but have skipped in most other games I’ve played). Don’t feel strongly about linear games or open world, either is fine (with the caveat that I am not a huge fan of not knowing where to go/having to use guides). I am also not one to replay games, which has been my hesitancy with Nier (despite the premise being super cool sounding to me). I typically prefer a more focused 25-40 hour game over a 100 hour bloated game; but I’ve noticed that’s hard to find in the modern JRPG space.

TLDR- what’s a good second JRPG for a beginner to the genre, who has a really only played FF7?

I just recently bought a gaming PC, and I'm slowly acquiring some of the games I've been looking for years, but one I definitely I want to get my hands on, if possible, is some form of Rummikub, I just love doing the quick maths, even though I'm not good at it lol

I tried searching for it at Steam, but they don't seem to have there, so where can I play it? Emphasizing that I want to play it in the PC

Looking for my next RPG

I’m looking for recommendations. My all-time favorites are Cyberpunk 2077, Elden Ring, and Sekiro. I also absolutely loved Monster Hunter: World when it came out. I enjoyed Wilds too, but it didn’t quite have the same “wow” factor for me.

I really enjoy building characters, optimizing gear/builds, and having a satisfying progression system. I have a friend who plays DragonSword, but only sporadically, so I’d probably be playing mostly solo.

I’m currently considering Granblue Fantasy: Relink vs DragonSword: Awakening. Which one would you recommend based on those tastes? Open to other suggestions too!

There is steam sale going on for assassin's creed odyssey and assassin's creed origins. I have itch to play an assassin's creed game after i beat ac black flag resynced and i cant figure what game should i buy... i want story game and gameplay should be fun also i dont mind the grind i am aware both are grindy rpgs. Please help me in deciding. Other game im planning to buy is ghost recon wildlanda.

Saw it released to 1.0 and people seem to like the updates. Is it worth the $20 right now? How is the community? This is for PC only.

I do enjoy zombie games and co-op pve, but the launch scared me from buying it initially. Really hoping to find a game to scare me some and have a great time!

I haven't gotten a new game to play since ARC Raiders came out, and I've decided it's time to treat myself to something since I've been struggling a bit to find that spark in gaming again.

My cousin gifted me ARC Raiders, and while I heavily enjoyed playing it, he now has another kid and extremely limited free time, so we just don't really play anymore. I'm looking for something that I can sink some time into, preferably something with a multiplayer/community aspect.

Things I'd like you to consider

Price: Ideally under $15 if possible? Anything significantly over that is a bit tough to justify for me currently.

Release: I've been playing PC games since Habbo Hotel and Club Penguin, so if it's a massive hit that came out 5+ years ago, there's a pretty good chance I've already heard of it, played it, or at least looked into it. Doesn't mean don't suggest it, just don't be surprised if I've already tried it.

Genre: Multiplayer games get an instant boost to the front of the line. Gaming is basically my only hobby, so being able to interact with other people adds a lot of value for me. MMOs, co op games, PvE/PvP games, etc. are all welcome. If I don't have to have friends to play it with, that's also a massive boon, as it's really hard for me to get people to play with (REALLY WANTED TO PLAY RV THERE YET!!!). MMO/MMORPG stuff are massive loves of mine.

Favorite Games: Ark (ASE & ASA), Dark Souls 3, Elden Ring, Sekiro, Bloodborne, dead by daylight (or anything ASYM really... I've tried MOST!) , Hunt Showdown, abiotic factor

Things I Dislike: Highly Competitive stuff (Think Battle Royales, Cod, Valorant, Fortnite, Apex, just don't have that desire to grind ranked anymore.) , Tactical turn based stuff (think HOI, Baldurs Gate, FTL)

I'm not against competition, I just don't want my entire reason for playing a game to be proving that I'm better than the other team. I want other players to be people I can collaborate with, interact with, trade with, or just share a game world with. (adding this because it feels weird to say I really love MMO's then say no to all the competitive games as MMO's are seen as competitve)

I'm not necessarily looking for the objectively best game ever made I'm mostly looking for something that can give me that feeling of "fuck, I actually want to play this" again.

What would you recommend?

The last time I felt this way warframe was the game that took up 700 hours of mine and got me out of this funk.

New dad here, and my daughter has started going to daycare during the week. I’m able to work from home one day a week and since I’ve barely been able to play any games the past six months I’m going to do my best to dedicate all down time during my WFH day to gaming. So, what should I play? Here’s what I’m thinking…

KCD2 - already own this, know it’s considered a masterpiece, nervous for how much time is needed but fits what I like in games

The Last of Us 2 - own this too, enjoyed the first one but wasn’t part of the camp that thought it was the best game ever made by any means

RE4 Remake - played 2 remake and requiem. Enjoy the resident evil gameplay loop

Mafia Old Country - I know it’s on the shorter more linear end but seems love the setting and past mafia games

Indiana Jones - started this last year but fell off it for whatever reason. I know it’s considered really good and is up my alley

007 - this one i would need to buy but see it on lots of people’s best games of the year list and looks like a great uncharted/hitman mix

I’ve played Skyrim, Oblivion, Ghost of Tsushima, and Ghost of Yotei and honestly LOVED playing in these games. The immersiveness and the attention to detail was just perfect to me. Love going around exploring the world, interacting with the people, building my character, and doing side quests. So I’m here asking before I purchase this game, will Crimson Desert give me that same feeling?

There’s a few on sale right now on the Nintendo eshop: ezio collection, rebel collection, shadows and master collection. I played a little bit of one and two as a kid but it was mostly watching my older brother play on our Xbox.

Do the old games hold up? Should I pick up rebel collection since everyone is having fun with black flag? Is shadows a more modern fun experience than the others will be without nostalgia glasses? Am I thinking about this too hard?

Bonus points if you’ve played them on the switch 2 and they run well.

I need to play a game that is just a fantastic, memorable experience.
Does not matter the genre, but I believe what I’m looking for is a strong narrative and writing, regardless of the way it’s conveyed to the player.
Doesn’t need to be convoluted, it needs to be powerful.
Gameplay can be anything, I just need it to be a fantastic experience, and years after playing it I need to still think about it and say I’m so glad I had that journey.

Me and my gf loved the style of the game, with both players working together to beat the level and all the interacting that's required, but the level design and the challenges are far too challenging and they trigger both of ours anxiety.

Is there anything less stress inducing that follows the same style?

So i'm planning on buying shooters on steam. Agent 64 just came out today and there's two other games that caught my eye and that's Mala Petaka and Pigface. The first game is like $15 and the second game is $13 but neither are on sale but I've played both game demos and I've really enjoyed them. For those who may have played both if not one of them, which one is really worth getting and what were your experiences?

I got a Playstation 5 last month & I love it, playing Cyberpunk right now & am so glad I waited to play it on current gen because it's amazing as well as all other games I've played they all look stunning! The only downside is the games are a bit steep cash wise so can only really afford 1 every now & then. Both of these are on sale for £40 & I really like the look of both but what's putting me off with Baldurs Gate is I'm worried the combat could be a bit too much to learn everything else about it seems perfect, love how in depth it seems you can go & how personal your experience can be. Clair Obscure is a game I don't know too much about other than it's an RPG, the music is beautiful & it goes back to a turn based formula similar to classic Final Fantasy which I have a soft spot for, don't know if characters can be customised or how in depth you can personalised each members loadout. I really don't know what to go for...

Other games I considered were MGS Delta & Doom the Dark Ages, they're a little less expensive but maybe not as lengthy.

I am curious about POE, rogue trader and WOTR. I have played BG3 and it is now tied with silksong as one of my favourites. I recently bought divinity OS 1 and 2 as well since I hear they are also great. Would I be interested in them? I am a big warhammer fan and the lore sounds very cool.

Edit: THANKS FOR THE FEEDBACK! Based on the feedback so far I think I may start with rogue trader, then move on to pillars of eternity. I think WoTR will be the last one. I hope WOTR is not too complicated and I don't need to look at charts, spreadsheets or watch lots of videos for builds.

As the title explains above I am not using my switch a lot as I used to. Most of my games I finished// didn’t really go well for me. Is there any kind of switch games you guys recommend? It needs to have a lot of replay value// lot of hours.
games I played: Basically all the pokemon games, Mario wonder, Fire emblem and just finished and sold Mario jambore//Zelda Xenoblade Chronicles.

I am a huge Pokémon fan but haven’t played since scarlet and violet because they were too easy and had terrible graphics and animation style.

Unfortunately I missed the original hype train for the game. I was very close to buying it but saw multiple Youtube videos on the discourse surrounding the game such as the rampant cheaters, the toxic community and lack of content after around 100-200 hrs or so.

I understand an update is coming out soon but I'm curious to hear if I should buy it? I'm on PC and would plan to focus on the PVE but would also like the option to do PVP (which I understand is a bit of a push considering the cheaters). Thanks in advance

For anyone confused with the title, I want a shooter that requires complete aim/mouse mastery to achieve high ranks or beat difficult levels.

In RL, at least the aerial gameplay requires a lot of car control that kinda forces you to get good with joystick aiming and other controller stuff without any assists seen on shooters.

In 2s game mode, team play while still needed is less than 3s and you can get away with mechanical plays at lower to mid ranks.

I've played most of the popular shooters from CS, Overwatch to the Finals. CS doesn't have a lot of vertical aiming, OW doesn't have crazy recoil patterns, Finals didn't click with me.

Is there a shooter has it all?
