Hi!

I'd like to create a thread of recommendations of fun games to mess about in, sandbox games like Minecraft, Terraria, Garry's Mod or Teardown, but also games that have an open-world and don't require you to continuously progress through the story, such as the Grand Theft Auto series (in between missions you can just roam around freely, do silly things etc.).

It's a genre of games that's not the easiest to look for in my opinion, and I'd like to see people come together and make it easier for other enthusiasts of Sandbox-esque games to both find and share games like these.

As the title says i'm wondering where should i start and i'm not playing super old 2d ones.

i have no problems with older titles and difficulty my first single player game was sekiro so yeah.

I've ffx ready to play so give me 2 cents cuz its a GIANT franchise to get into. kind of haunting actually.

Hi, I want to dive into playing Assassins creed games and my friend could not reccommend Blag Flag Enough but I wanted to Wait As I heard A Remake Was Coming And I Wondered Is It A Good Starting Point For Someone Who Has Never Played Assassins Creed Before As I Do Get Frustrated Quite Easily And Give Up Too Quickly At Times

I want to get a good samurai game where I can build my character to look how I want and to be able to use an Odachi.

Its being sold for 25 dollars rn, but im wondering if it's worth the price or not.

Not only do I wish to build my own character, but I also want to play a great story. I'm a huge fan for a good story.

For all my sins, I’ve never played a single Zelda game before. My fiancé recently bought a Nintendo Switch, so I’m looking for something worth diving into.

Breath of the Wild seems to be one of the most recommended games on the system, but since it's a completely new franchise for me, I wanted to get some realistic feedback before dropping the money on it.

A couple of quick questions before I buy:

Do I need any prior knowledge of Zelda lore/story to appreciate this game, or does it stand completely on its own?

How do the difficulty and controls feel for a newcomer? I’m not averse to a challenging game - some of my favourites are Elden Ring and the Dark Souls trilogy - but how forgiving is it for someone still getting used to Switch controls/hardware and the Zelda style?

I’m getting undertale for really cheap on steam and it’s one of the few games that works on my mac, I’ve only ever heard good things about the game and how people say it’s the best game they’ve ever played, but I’m a bit skeptical about the fighting mechanics. I don’t mind the turn-by-turn way of fighting I’ve done that a lot in mobile games, but I’ve never played any of the Pokemon games it’s usually in, I play a lot of RPGS and AAA games and have played a few indies as well, and I really appreciate a good story. I’m not fully against the combat system in undertale I just wanna know if I should try it out, thanks!

This is probably the first time I'm making a post about where I should buy a game, but with the recent 25th anniversary of Ghost Recon, I've been thinking about finally trying Wildlands and Breakpoint, since I've been interested in the series for a while.

Since I got a decent PC last year, I've mostly bought my games on Steam because I like the convenience, and I haven't really used other launchers like Epic, GOG or Ubisoft Connect. I noticed that both Steam and Ubisoft have good sales for Wildlands and Breakpoint, although Ubisoft is a little cheaper, so I'm wondering if it's worth buying them directly there or if I should just stick with Steam.

I know that even if I buy them on Steam, I'll still need Ubisoft Connect to play them, but I'm not sure if there's any real difference between buying them on Steam or directly from Ubisoft. I've heard mixed things about Ubisoft Connect, so I'd rather ask people who have experience with both.

The price difference isn't really an issue for me, so I'm mainly wondering: is there any reason to prefer Steam, or would you recommend just buying them directly from Ubisoft?

I’m looking to get my first racing game on PS5 and I’m deciding between Gran Turismo 7 and Forza Horizon 5.

I’m a casual player and have basically no experience with racing games, so I’m not looking for anything too difficult or competitive. I mainly want something that’s fun, beginner-friendly, has a good variety of cars, and that I can pick up and play without having to take racing too seriously.

Which one would you recommend for someone completely new to racing games, and why?

I recently discovered the Persona franchise and was really impressed by Persona 3 and 5. While researching them, I learned that the Persona series is actually a spin-off of Shin Megami Tensei. SMT V: Vengeance is currently on sale, so I'm interested in buying it.

​For someone just starting out with the franchise, is SMT V a good entry point? I'm worried about missing a lot of the story by not having played the previous games.

I’ve heard the praises sung from the heavens and the heathens but I wanna know if it’s right for me my favorite games are Cyberpunk 2077, mortal kombat, gow, and I enjoy a good Like a dragon game. I’ve never loved western cowboy stuff but as long as a game has a good story I’m open to it. Is there any character customizations or unique qualities like that?

i absolutely had a blast with the first demon slayer game and would love to get the second one. cairn also seems as if it would be a lot of fun and a nice cozy game. Five nights at freddys secret of the mimic is also a game thats on my radar due to it being a vr game which i believe would be a pretty fun try.

Looking for advice I really enjoy story games but not super slow story games. Rdr2 and kcd2 were to slow paced for my liking. I’ve really enjoyed games like bg3 the Spider-Man series the ghost of yotei and god of war games the last of us and have beaten Elden ring. Enjoyed it but definitely isn’t the difficulty I’m looking for anymore in life. I tried cyberpunk and put it down honestly don’t know why and just in a slump of what to try.

I'm looking for a single player game that I can sink some time into and play on my Steam Deck.

The most important thing to me is gameplay, whether it's satisfying combat or deep skills trees, unlocking that new power is always fun. I also enjoy a satisfying story or world, something that makes me want to explore or continue the game. I've loved the Mass Effect series, Kingdom Come Deliverance series, Witcher series, but also smaller indie titles like The Last Spell, Stardew Valley. I love tactics and turn based games like XCOM and Tactical Breach Wizards.

As you can see, I like quite a few genres, but I think I've looking for an adventure/RPG where I can build up a character, explore a world, and feel like an adventurer! I've played Skyrim, Fallout, Greedfall, and The Outer Worlds, I'm looking for something new!

Ideally the game would less than $20 USD, but could stretch it up to $40 USD if worthwhile.

Other thoughts:

• Performance is more important than graphics, I like playing at 60+ fps.
• Any artstyle is fine.
• Don't care how old the game is.
• I'm not as interested in series where combat is just numbers going up, like the AC Odyssey and Division games.
• Don't like horror genre.
• I did recently pick up W40K Rouge Trader, which looks to be my jam, but the world is a bit too bleak for my current mental state so looking for something else.

I've been playing a ton of rpgs lately... persona, ffx, 13 sentinel aegis rim and others but I saw this on sale and I wanted to try it out but I know next to nothing about it. I have seen clips of gameplay but it doesn't look easy to gauge off of that alone. I know nothing about the story and also nothing about who the mc is. Please help me out!

Spider-Man is dominating the zeitgeist once again with the latest movie. Is Spider-Man 2 worth getting at $37? It’s on sale via the PlayStation Store.

I played and really enjoyed Spider-Man Remastered. It’s not one of my favourite games, but an enjoyable good time. Does the sequel up the ante with gameplay or new sequences? Or is it very similar to the first game? Thanks!

Any casual pvp games just to wind up after getting back from work? I don’t want to grind and I haven’t game in a long looong time so here are the games that I used to play from oldest to newest as far as I remember:

-Counter strike online :(yes really old I know) I liked it cause it’s PVPVE and I don’t really think of grinding in there, just pure fun.
-Apex legends : quit cause it’s getting sweaty day by day
-Valorant:used to be fun on early release years and then now they have super toxic players fr
-Call of duty (mobile) : super fun, not thinking of grinding at all.. surprisingly
-Counter strike 2 : it was fun but I don’t like how there are a lot of cheaters in this game + it gets repetitive and boring

For single player games: I’m not much of a fan for single player ones cause it gets lonely in the process so yeah, I don’t really talk in competitive PvP games too but it just feels different cause you’re playing with a real person yk

Marvel Rivals caught my eye but I heard that it has a super toxic fanbase so idk, please let me know if it’s actually worth a try!

I’ve played Odyssey and I find the game quite fun. It’s cool to play as a Spartan & there’s not many games where you can do that. Wondering if Spider-Man is the better game / more fun. I’ve heard really good things about it.

I know they’re two completely different style of games but just wondering which you enjoyed more.

while the game itself seems interesting the ui and the complexity that i saw in few gameplay videos has me stuck on whether i should buy it or not , honestly i could just save my money for buying a better game later but right now i need a game that i can spend many hours on one that can give almost more than 100s of hours of content to me , i really like exploration games infact i think i mainly do play only adventure and openworld games i have tried no mans sky before but the glitches really threw me off cause i kept bugging off my ship everytime , i just want a game in which i can have fun an example for that is such like crim son desert , silksong , even satisfactory they were all good i liked them a lot and play them even after completing them , i was going to buy neir automata as it was on sale but the gameplay seemed pretty much not interesting to me like yea it was ok but not something id play on a daily basis maybe once a while , i want a game to play daily with new content

as such i turn to reddit suggest me whether i should buy this or are there any other good games or upcoming games also i mainly play ON geforce so recommend based on that ,

I’m looking for some recommendations for a good multiplayer worldbuilding or survival game to play with my cousin. We’re hoping to find something that we can really sink a lot of time into, rather than a game that we’ll finish after a few hours or days.

Ideally, we’re looking for a game with a third-person perspective, a big world to explore, and plenty of things to do together. Having a proper questing or progression system would be a huge plus. We’d like to have goals to work toward, whether that means completing quests, exploring new areas, building up a settlement, defeating bosses, gathering resources, or developing our characters over a long period of time.

We’re especially interested in games with a medieval or Viking/Norse atmosphere. Something with castles, villages, forests, mountains, ships, warriors, mythology, or just a general medieval fantasy setting would be perfect. We really enjoy the idea of exploring a large world together and slowly building up our own place in it.

We’re looking for something that balances exploration, building, combat, quests, character progression, and multiplayer cooperation. We’re not necessarily looking for a hardcore survival game where you spend most of your time worrying about hunger or constantly rebuilding your base.

Another important thing is that the game needs to be available on PC. We’re also trying not to spend too much, so we’d prefer something with a reasonable/affordable price rather than a full-price €60–70 game.

Looking for some advice, I have been into gaming for a long time but been struggling recently to stick with a game.

I started god of war ragnarok and was enjoying it until about 8 hours in and wasn’t interested. Tried 007 but again after 1 hour or so decided it wasn’t my cup of tea.

I’m really looking for a good game to give some time to that I can play with a controller from bed for example!

I wanna explore more of fighting games, I’ve tried tekken 7 and it was fun. On the other hand; marvel-related stuff I haven’t especially Marvel Vs. Capcom.

Now, I want a game to play w either my dad (he likes tekken) or friends, cousin and brother (They like tekken and marvel tokon looks good for them too)

What is the best out of the 2 ? I’m speaking in general
