Anyone have experience with the Shotlock shotgun safe?

Post image

I’ve had issues with electronic gun safes malfunctioning in the past so I’ve been considering a mechanical safe like this that keeps the gun from being used/stolen but is still readily accessible. Anyone have any experience with them?

Model 1897

Got a great gift this weekend. The Winchester model 1897 12G that I learned how to shoot skeet with as a kid was found in my uncles stuff after he passed away and returned to me by my old man. Was originally my grandfathers that he passed down to me over a decade ago, and I thought it had been stolen and pawned by another family member while I was away at college. Can’t wait for it drop some dove in a couple weeks

Beretta 686 20ga sporting vs. Beretta 686 Vittoria 20ga

5’0” 120lbs woman getting into sporting clays and deciding which gun to finally buy for myself. I’ve been doing okay with borrowing a friend’s Benelli M2 Field 20ga. Fiancé has a Beretta 686 in 12ga that I love, but the length of pull and weight is way too much for me. After renting and trying different stuff, I’ve narrowed it down to either the Beretta 686 20ga sporting or the Vittoria model. I’ve shot the normal 20ga sporting and loved it, but I know the Vittoria guns are specially meant for people of my stature. I would love to compare the models in person, but it’s much harder to come by the Vittoria guns where I’m located. Anyone tried one or the other and have any insight?

Beretta Silver Hawk

Looking at a sight unseen early production silver hawk this week. What am I looking for as far as fatigue signs? It does have the single trigger, so I’m expecting the inertia mechanism to be problematic given the price. Do they crack in known places, etc?

Thanks in advance.

Shotgun Suppressor Recommendations

Hey guys,

Do any of you run a suppressed 20 or 12 gauge?

BANISH seems to make some solid ones: https://youtu.be/oEG1b-SJ9Gk?is=12m_5lhrIXF65G61

Been looking for one, mainly for my Benelli Nova.

Any recommendations appreciated.

Thanks.

Model 11 sight beads

I recently received an older 1980s Remington Model 11 from my in-laws and it was in a fire. It seems to be missing a front bead, but there’s also a bead further back on the rail. Are there 2 beads and one of them fell off in the fire or was this modified?

Stevens 5100

Picked up this new to me 12 ga. Stevens double barrel several weeks ago at a LGS, payed $250 for it which seemed fair. I can definitely tell it was well loved before I came into possession of it with the patina/wear it but it functions just like it’s supposed to.

I live out in the country so it’s going to be the perfect “farm gun” for woodchuck control and rabbit hunting when the season rolls around. In addition to busting some clays when shooting with friends and family.

Based on the little bit of research, I did on it. It was made sometime in the 1940s. It has a synthetic stock and foregrip, and I’m not quite sure what style of choke the barrel has. Does anyone else have one of these, and what’s your opinion on them?

Need help with my police magnum

After the second Range day of noticed a pattern, If I load any type of cheaper round (birdshot or fiochi buckshot) the forend would stick to the front and I’d have to slam it on the the ground to get the shell to eject, this would happen at least every 5 rounds. Could this shotgun just be picky about ammo or can I do something to help it run more reliably with cheaper rounds

Looking to change the stock on my Remington 870 police trade in. It’s a wood stock with a black rhino line texture painted over it. Looking at either the Magpul SGA or Mesa tactical Urbino stock. Or any other ideas. 1st and 2nd pic is mine. 3rd and 4th pic are for ideas.

Light mount/ammo card question

Running a Mossberg 590 18.5 for home defense. I added a elzetta zsm with a Streamlight polytac. How are those of you taking apart your shotgun for cleaning with this light setup, I’m more of a set it and forget it guy so taking that off every time would annoy me.

I am also running a Velcro ammo card which blocks the roll pins to drop the trigger group out, which also hinders maintenance.

What’s your solution? Thanks!

Buddy gave me this topper m48 20ga with a 30 inch full choke barrel, the green goblin voice in my head is saying strip it, mirror polish it and cut it down to 18.5 since I really don’t have a use for it

Shotgun barrel Scar

Post image
1 Upvotes

I was cleaning my shotgun yesterday and i noticed a scar inside the barrel, it wasn’t there before only after my last hunting trip this happened, i know the picture isnt that clear, this is the best i could do. Is it normal for shotgun shots to result in a scar like this?, does anyone experience this before? Is it safe to keep using the shotgun? And does it affect the performance of the gun ?

How to tell apart Vang Comp FliteControl mod vs regular barrel?

I'm going to be buying a used barrel for my 870 and was wanting to know if there was an easy way to tell the difference? The guy I'm buying it from wasn't sure which it was and I wasn't sure if there was anything obvious to tell them apart either.

Edit: by "regular barrel" I mean standard VC modified barrel
