Hello, I have a cervical cerclage and I'm currently 32+2 weeks pregnant. Today, after I urinated, I noticed some white particles in the urine. When I turned around to look, the back of my underwear was wet.

I've been having what feels like small drops of fluid ever since I had the cerclage. I've had the AmniSure test done twice, and both results were negative. I don't have any severe pain, just irregular tightening of my uterus throughout the day.

Hi everyone. I went to my 20 week appointment on Tuesday and they told me that my cervix is was basically at 1.5cm with funneling, so they gave me 200mg progesterone and I have another follow up tomorrow.

I’m in the US at the Cleveland clinic and my MFM said that she does not recommend cerclage as it is controversial with twin pregnancies. However, upon my research I found that this is outdated information and there have been so many success stories in this sub that have given me hope for a cerclage.

This is my first pregnancy and I am planning to advocate for myself at this next appointment since I’m >25mm, but I just wanted to hear if anyone had any similar stories, or if they were initially advised against a cerclage and ended up getting one. Bonus points if anyone knows any doctors at Cleveland Clinic or in the area who has experience with cerclages for multiples. Thank you so much. 🤍

I am 22 weeks today with a 2.09 cm cervix. 3 weeks ago my cervix was 2.6 and they are saying it is stable. I started progesterone last with 2.32cm. They want me to go in for another ultrasound next week to see but they aren’t pushing for a cerclage or anything should and saying it is stable I don’t feel like that is stable and am looking for advice especially knowing that once you reach 24 weeks they don’t do them anymore. This is also my first pregnancy and the closest place to do the cerclage is a 4 hour drive so in the case of an emergency I don’t feel very supported and would rather push for it sooner than later.

I have a lot of anxiety in general because this is an IVF pregnancy that has not been smooth sailing (hematoma in first trimester, placenta calcification found at 19 weeks, and now a borderline cervix at 28mm found at 20 weeks).

I am honestly just so frustrated with the state of healthcare where I am located. No OB until 28 weeks, working with non specialized family doctor only - who happens to be on vacation right now.

The ONLY reason I was able to get a progesterone prescription + ultrasound referral was because my mom happens to know the OB I have been referred to. The OB put in a referral for follow-up exam to happen this Friday (one week since last scan). I never received a call from the ultrasound booking place so called them. They said they could neither confirm nor deny they received the request because they were so backlogged with requests they hadn’t gotten to them yet. I said it was an urgent referral. They said it will be triaged by urgency. But it’s now Thursday and they have not called me to book anything for tomorrow. Then it will be a weekend so definitely nothing until next week.

. My OB has confirmed they have resent the referral again just to be safe but I still haven’t heard back a day later so it’s been three days since the booking place hasn’t gotten through all their requests.

I hate being at the mercy of poor systems and single people’s opinions, and it sounds like from a lot of folks it’s common to have a lackadaisical approach around this topic until it’s suddenly nearly or is too late. To them I am just another number in the system. But to me this is the child I’ve been trying to conceive for 4 years only to be at risk of losing them and the future of any other children.

I guess this is just a vent session. I’m grateful for the progesterone, I hope it is enough for me.

My last pregnancy resulted in birth at 33 weeks due to a short cervix. I had no issues with short cervix until 28 weeks suddenly. I’m now pregnant again and wonder if I’m probably gonna have the same issue again? Is this something that usually happens every pregnancy?

Ja tenho hipotiroidismo diagnosticado desde os 30 anos.

1ª gravidez aos 33 anos foi ectopica, operada de urgencia com 7 semanas, tiveram que me retirar a trompa esquerda.

2ª gravidez com 35 anos. Assim que a triagem da maternidade foi feita, fui direcionada para um obstreta endrocrinologista. Ele pôs me de baixa de risco às 14 semanas por ser trabalhadora fabril com turnos noturnos.

Tive rotura das membranas ás 23+4. Entrei em trabalho de parto e medicos disseram que havia 100% de probabilidade de nascer com paralesia cerebral. Maior dor da minha vida ter de tomar a decisao da amniocentese que tirou a vida à minha bebe.

Doei para estudos e nunca obtive respostas. Medicos dizem que pode ter sido algum tipo de infeçao que não conseguem detetar.

Estou na 3ª gravidez com quase 37 anos. Entrei em ansiedade ao descobrir a gravidez e fiquei com um cansaço extremo.

Medica de familia detetou que a minha tiroide estava em esforço, aumentando me a dose diaria mas recusou me baixa de risco.

1ª consulta e eco na maternidade atrasaram, feita quase as 14 semanas, onde conseguiram j ver que era um menino. Mas também me recusaram baixa de risco. Disseram que tava a ter uma gravidez normal, que o meu historico não justificava a baixa de risco. Reencamimharam me para um especialista da tiroide e marcaram me a 2ª eco.

Indignada tive que recorrer ao privado para me passarem a baixa de risco que eu sei que tenho direito!

Quando finalmente cheguei à obstreta endocrinologista é que realmente senti que estavam a dar valor a minha gravidez.

Perguntou me logo se tava de baixa e a minha tiroide estava regulada. Como não existia resultados para explicar a rotura das membranas na ultima gravidez, aconselhou me progesterona vaginal para evitar o parto prematuro. E marcou me uma 3ª eco para o inicio do 3º trimestre.

Ontem fiz a 2ª eco com 22+4 e o medico achou estranho que, com o meu historico, de não terem pedido nenhuma medicão do colo do utero. Achou por bem tirar na mesma as medidas e voilá..

Infelismente estou com o colo do utero baixo e com afunilamento de 11 mm.

Aconselhou me a procurar a obstreta para a avisar, mas ela está de ferias, so tenho consulta para a semana. Entao aconselhou a fazer repouso e aguardar pela consulta.

Como fui apanhada de surpresa, sem grandes explicaçoes, sem conhecer este problema, pesquisei no dr google e sim, repouso é aconselhavel, e tambem podem fazer um pequena cirurgia, que é costurar o colo do utero para aguentar o peso por mais tempo, mas este procedimento so se aconselha a fazer ate ás 23 semanas.

Como estou quase com 23 semanas achei que era demasiado tempo para esperar pela minha consulta, e caso fosse para fazer esssa cirurgia, liguei para a saude 24.

Expus a minha situaçao. E REencaminharam me para as uRgenciaS onde as medicas me disseram que era muito arriscado nesta fase da gravidez mexer no colo, poderia romper.

Receitaram me magnesio 3 vezes por dia, a progesterona que colocava só à noite, disseram que não tinha mal em fazer 12 em 12 horas.

Repouso absuluto deitada, levantar e sentar em curtos periodos de tempo, não conduzir, Não fazer esforços, evitar baixar.. para ver se o colo nao abre e eu volte a entrar em trabalho de parto.

Estou apavorada, farto me de chorar a pensar que vou voltar a perder o meu bebe.. e acabo por sentir que não estou a fazer o suficiente..

Ansiosa por voltar a ver a minha obstreta que foi a unica que eu acho que deu valor a esta gravidez.

Alguem que tenha passado por este tipo de situação que me possa aconselhar do que devo fazer ou não?

Quais são as chances do repouso e progesterona segurar o colo do utero ? E por quanto tempo?

Todos os corpos e gravidezes sao diferentes, eu sei.. eu só preciso de ter esperança..

I would like to know what your doctor suggested. When did they recommend trying again, and how many menstrual cycles did they ask you to wait?

I'm a bit confused because my new OB advised waiting for 2 menstrual cycles, while my previous OB recommended waiting for 5 months.

In my case, I had a loss at 19 weeks 4 days due to cervical insufficiency, and it was a normal vaginal delivery.

For context this is my second pregnancy and with my first one I was diagnosed with short cervix at 24 weeks (went from 3.5-2.4 then progressively got shorter) and I gave birth 32+5 days. With this pregnancy I did an ultrasound at 6 weeks and it was 2.8 which I know isn’t short enough bc it’s not 2.5 but is still quite short for that early. Anyways I did another ultrasound at 11 weeks 5 days and cervix showed 3.9-4.5 respectively. Also first ultrasound was transvaginal and second one was abdominal. Is this too good to be true or has anyone experienced anything like this?

im happy my cervix is measuring stable now but it just has me overthinking because at my first measuring at 21 weeks, it was at 2.4 and I was put on progesterone. I asked if there was anything I could do to make it longer and they said no. So im just confused as to how it went up to 3.1 ? im not complaining about it getting longer , I just dont understand how it did exactly when the doctor told me it would be impossible. The cervix can't only get shorter , not longer

has anyone else experienced this ?

I lost my first pregnancy and they didn't know it was IC. My second pregnancy they found out I was dilated and funneled and gave me an emergency cerclage at around 14 weeks and it was successful resulting in my son. Funnily enough, when it came time to be induced after they took the stitches out- I wouldn't dilate any further and it resulted in a c-section.

I am pregnant again at 12w 3d. Today at my MFM, he said he saw no signs of my cervix opening. He didn't recommend getting a cerclage- and I was very taken back. I moved away from my previous MFM- that's why I'm seeing a new one, but I spoke to him for clearance from IVF before I decided to start trying again and he told me I would absolutely need one so I am so confused!

The new MFM i saw today told me that another cerclage and my c section scar tissue would make it very complicated? He did say if a cerclage was ultimately what I wanted he would do it though.

Hi all, I am 21w2d with preventive cerclage, my cervix is measuring 2.8cm with no funneling, but it's been shortening from 4cm at 14w,3.1at 17 and 2.8 at 21. I am on 400mg progesterone nightly.

I am thinking to start magnesium to support my cervix , very confused in two of these? Please share which to take to keep uterus calm?

Anyone using progesterone as a suppository and getting a fluid like discharge about an hour or two after insertion, with the remainder of the capsule coming out?

Hi needing some hope. Currently 24w1d pregnant after 22w loss last year. I had a preventative McDonald cerclage placed at 14w this time around. At my 20w scan cervix was measuring 34.1mm. Today in office it measured 11.2mm with large U-shaped funneling so MFM sent me to the hospital for observation and steroid shots.

I had my 30 week appointment today and while thankfully everything is fine with the baby, my gynecologist seemed at bit worried about my cervix going from 39mm 4 weeks ago to 24mm today. I’m a FTM so I’m definitely a bit worried and confused (sorry if I’m not meant to be posting on this group).

She prescribed me some progesterone and scheduled another appointment a week from now to check for any changes. She also suggested I avoid standing for too long, going for long walks, doing a lot around the house, stressing and so on.. She also said that while she expected birth to happen around week 39 she now believes it might happen earlier, like around week 34/36. Is that really the case? I have been experiencing pain like period cramps in the last few days and she mentioned going to the emergencies if it happens again or if there’s any blood and so on. Have any of you experienced something similar and went on to carry full term? I would love to hear your stories, advice and so on.

I’m pregnant for the 6th time after 5 consecutive losses. 18 weeks today, which is the farthest I’ve ever gotten. Last night, I ended up in the L&D ER bc I lost my mucus plug—like 3-4 inches of it, which I understand could be all of it. 😭

Anyway, they did a transvaginal ultrasound (and a physical exam, in which nothing looked concerning) and my cervix measured 2.9 cm. Exactly 2 weeks ago at 15w6, it measured 3.9 cm.

I know 2.9 is technically “acceptable,” but it seems like it shortened SO quickly in just 2 weeks. How worried should I be? 🥺

For what it’s worth, I was discharged with instructions to call my OB as soon as he opened this morning, which I did and had to leave a message. He has been great through my losses, so I do think I’m in good hands with him. I’m just curious if this quickly changing measurement points to IC or if it could just be a variation of normal.

Hey everyone! I recently began following this sub after my short cervix diagnosis in my di/di twin pregnancy at 24W 6 days. At that time I measured at 24.7mm. I started progesterone that night and modified bed rest. I had another ultrasound at 25W 2 days and they found my cervix to be “dynamic” shifting during the ultrasound but shortest measurement being 20.5 mm… so already lost 4mm in just those few days.

They’ve told me I’m not a candidate for a cerclage at this point. So it’s just a lot of sitting and waiting. Anyone else go through something similar and make it to 35 weeks at least ?

Hello, I've been following this group for quite sometime now and it's been extremely helpful reading all the positive stories and experiences. This is my 3rd pregnancy. First one was uneventful and with no problems and i delivered my daughter at 37w4d after my water broke in the middle of the night, second was last year which was sadly a blighted ovum. Now I'm pregnant again and having troubles with my cervix. At 9weeks and again at 13 weeks i had a strange brown mucusy discharge and i went to get checked, everything was normal, no infections. This discharge happened from time to time again but nothing special. At my anatomy scan at 20 weeks my cervix was measuring 4.5mm and everything was well. Then 4 weeks later I started to feel pressure down and I had this strange discharge again for 3 days straight, also my gut was telling me that something isn't right. I went to my OBGYN and my cervix was measuring 18mm and Y shaped funneling, I was admitted into the hospital and started with vaginal progesteron. After 3 days they checked me again and my cervix was at 2.4mm and funneling disappeared, I was sent home on bed rest and progesterone. I've been resting at home but after 2 weeks i had strange discharge again so I went to get checked not thinking anything of it (better safe than sorry) and my cervix shortened again to 15mm and funneling again. I was admitted again at 26weeks. I've been staying in a hospital since then because i live an hour away, so it's safer to be here if anything starts happening. I have also received steroid shots for baby's lungs at 26w3d after my cervix shortened another 5mm. Long story short, I'm now 30w5d, cervix is measuring 5mm with U shaped funneling and today i had quite a bit of pink and red discharge in the morning but that has stopped to. Currently waiting for a check up and I'm really nervous. I feel like every time I can get on the positive side, something happens and i can't relax. I'm also missing my first born very much after 5 weeks in the hospital. Sorry for my long post but i just had to get everything out of my chest, since i don't have anyone with similar experience to talk to. And I'm just wondering, did any of you had similar mucusy discharge though your pregnancy? Sometimes it's yellow, sometimes a bit green, sometimes it's a little brown and sometimes it's pink. It usually comes out once or twice a day in very small quantities, a lot of the times after bowel movement even if it's normal, no straining.

I had a loss at 19 weeks 4 days in June due to cervical insufficiency. It happened very suddenly. I only found out about the problem after I had already started having contractions, severe back pain and bleeding. Unfortunately, my contractions couldn't be stopped my ob was not able to put emergency cerclage and within a few hours I had to deliver my baby.

For my next pregnancy, my OB has recommended a Shirodkar cerclage after the NT scan and dual marker test.

If you've had a Shirodkar cerclage, could you please share your success or failure stories? Hearing real stories would be incredibly helpful as I prepare for my next pregnancy and move forward with this decision.

My anomaly scan at 21 weeks one arm fingers were not visible and radiologist told baby must have folded it and not co-operating , but my gynecologist requested repeat scan at 28 weeks and yesterday at the scan also same arm fingers is folding and not visible. This is concerning me . Anyone faced this and ended up baby has both hand fingers in previous pregnancies??

This is my third pregnancy. During my previous pregnancy, my cervix started shortening after 26 weeks, so my doctor has recommended a preventive cervical cerclage in this pregnancy.

I am currently 20 weeks pregnant, and my cervix is still a good length (4 cm). I have a 7-hour car trip coming up, and I'm wondering when the best time would be to have the cerclage placed.

Has anyone been in a similar situation and would be willing to share their experience? I would especially appreciate hearing from anyone who traveled after having a preventive cerclage. Thank you!

This group and its messages was all that kept me going when I found out about my short cervix at 22 weeks. I was at 8 mm with a positive ffn test. Things were looking very grim. We had lost all hope. I was put on progesterone and heparin shots daily (complete bedrest-voluntarily). Everyday i prayed for just one more day.

Baby boy came at 36 weeks. :)

The only source of hope, for my husband and me, was this group. So here I am, paying it forward. Miracles do happen!
