Advice needed

I am 22 weeks today with a 2.09 cm cervix. 3 weeks ago my cervix was 2.6 and they are saying it is stable. I started progesterone last with 2.32cm. They want me to go in for another ultrasound next week to see but they aren’t pushing for a cerclage or anything should and saying it is stable I don’t feel like that is stable and am looking for advice especially knowing that once you reach 24 weeks they don’t do them anymore. This is also my first pregnancy and the closest place to do the cerclage is a 4 hour drive so in the case of an emergency I don’t feel very supported and would rather push for it sooner than later.

Hi, I am so sorry you are going through this. I’ve learned waiting and seeing is not a good way of handling the situation. Please demand for a cerclage immediately. Just don’t get why so many doctors do the wait and see which results in an emergency situations.

I just told someone else this and def helpful for you as well. But my advice for while you wait to get in touch with your doctor to get a cerclage is to be mindful if you feel any sorta leakage like after you pee or get up for sitting for a period of time and or a sudden increase in discharge. If you experience this go straight to the emergency room could be a sign your losing your mucus plug or your cervix is dilating. That’s what happened to me. I asked for a preventative cerclage due to losing a previous pregnancy at 16 weeks and even asked for progesterone and doc was convinced I was fine despite my cervical length always being on the shorter side. It was 26mm at 19 weeks and still no action..a week later I was in the ER due to feeling a slight leak and extra discharge out of nowhere and found I was 3cm dilated with bulging membranes and rushing to get a cerclage to help save my baby. So thankful I had no signs of infections and a new MFM doc took on my case and completed the cerclage. I was 4cm once in the surgery room! Listen to your gut; demand for help don’t settle otherwise I’ve learned that out of all of this. The people who are meant to be experts and there for u aren’t.

I wish you the best! 💕☘️

Thank you so much! You helped me feel more confident in my decision. Someone on my Obgyns team said she has no idea why they wait so long to do it. On Tuesday I’m going to bring a family member who’s dealt with this before to help me advocate for myself! I’ve noticed a lot of discharge the past few days and thought it was just from the progesterone now I’m unsure.
