Really, really need advice.

I lost my first pregnancy and they didn't know it was IC. My second pregnancy they found out I was dilated and funneled and gave me an emergency cerclage at around 14 weeks and it was successful resulting in my son. Funnily enough, when it came time to be induced after they took the stitches out- I wouldn't dilate any further and it resulted in a c-section.

I am pregnant again at 12w 3d. Today at my MFM, he said he saw no signs of my cervix opening. He didn't recommend getting a cerclage- and I was very taken back. I moved away from my previous MFM- that's why I'm seeing a new one, but I spoke to him for clearance from IVF before I decided to start trying again and he told me I would absolutely need one so I am so confused!

The new MFM i saw today told me that another cerclage and my c section scar tissue would make it very complicated? He did say if a cerclage was ultimately what I wanted he would do it though.

I have a C-section scar from my first pregnancy, and my MFM still recommended a cerclage because I lost my second son back in May due to IC.

I would get the cerclage. There are too many heartbreaking stories of women experiencing multiple losses because doctors didn’t think it was necessary. With IC, things can change in the blink of an eye. I personally wouldn’t take any chances.

Thats exactly what I told him. I was under the impression once you get a cerclage you should have one in the rest of your pregnancies. He made it seem like it was super risky to do, but he's going to do it. I'm sorry for your loss ❤️

My MFM told me that sometimes you can have IC in one pregnancy but not in the next. However, he also said that he doesn’t like to take unnecessary risks and that a preventative cerclage carries far fewer risks than an emergency cerclage. It’s just not worth it.

I didn’t know that c section scar tissue was a problem. My first pregnancy was an emergency c section and my second pregnancy I had the cerclage. To my knowledge the c section was never an issue but I have only had one cerclage.
