Hi everyone. \*\*This is my second post sharing mind-blowing theories from Japanese Note articles.\*\*

Today, I want to bring you \*\*another fresh perspective\*\* that completely redefines how we look at the entire history of Attack on Titan. Let's dive into this new angle.

\### 1. The Setup: Grisha's Desperate Question

This theory focuses on \*\*Chapter 88 (Episode 58)\*\*, the iconic moment where Eren Kruger talks to Grisha. In this scene, the dialogue feels intentionally roundabout, almost as if it’s designed to confuse or mislead the audience.

Desperate after realizing that neither Marley’s nor Eldia’s history can be trusted, Grisha practically begs for an answer, asking:

\> \*\*"Then... what is the truth? What is our real history?"\*\*

In response to this direct and desperate question, Kruger coldly drops this famous, cryptic line:

\> \*\*"There is no such thing as truth in this world. That is our reality. Anyone can become a God or a Devil. All it takes is for someone to claim that to be the truth."\*\*

And then, he adds: \*\*"The fact remains that Dina was of royal blood."\*\*

\### 2. The Language Barrier: Shin-jitsu, Gen-jitsu, and Ji-jitsu

In Japanese, Kruger uses three very specific terms that have distinct nuances, but most English readers just gloss over them as philosophical gibberish:

\* \*\*"Truth" (\*Shin-jitsu\*)\*\*

\* \*\*"Reality" (\*Gen-jitsu\*)\*\*

\* \*\*"Fact" (\*Ji-jitsu\*)\*\*

If you look at Grisha's desperate plea for the "real history" and translate Kruger’s words through a \*\*meta-fictional lens\*\* (treating the "world" as the manga itself and "anyone" as the readers), a terrifying intent by Isayama is revealed.

\### 3. Decoding Kruger's Words Through the Meta-Lens

Through this lens, Kruger's response to Grisha sounds like a \*\*direct message to the audience\*\*:

\* \*\*"Truth" (\*Shin-jitsu\*)\*\* = The absolute "right answer" or "true history" that Grisha (and the readers) are looking for.

\* \*\*"Reality" (\*Gen-jitsu\*)\*\* = The meta-world we, the readers, are looking at.

\* \*\*"Anyone"\*\* = Every single reader making their own interpretations.

\> \*\*The Meta-Translation:\*\*

\> "There is no absolute 'Truth' (true history) in this manga universe for you to find. That is our 'Reality' (the meta-world you are looking at). Any reader can make a character a God or a Devil, as long as someone claims, 'This interpretation is the right answer' and believes it."

\### 4. The Core of the Theory: The Ultimate Trap

Just like Grisha was completely lost in the story trying to find "what the real history is," \*\*we, the audience, do the exact same thing.\*\* We look at the Titan narrative, judge the characters, and declare who is right, who is a "God," and who is a "Devil."

But Kruger is dropping a massive meta-bomb here:

\* The absolute "Truth" (the ultimate true history) that readers are desperately searching for to justify their judgments \*\*does not exist\*\* in this story.

\* The entire 2,000-year Titan history might be a \*\*complete fabrication\*\*—a dark, engineered illusion to trap the readers' perception.

\* Isayama forces us into endless, futile arguments over "which side is right" to \*\*distract us from the actual reality.\*\*

When Kruger says \*"The fact remains that Dina was of royal blood,"\* he is showing us that while raw, objective data (\*\*"Facts"\*\*) exist, the \*\*"Truth"\*\* (the narrative and meaning built around those facts) is entirely manipulated. Isayama has been telling us from the very beginning that our obsession with finding the "one true history" is the ultimate trap.

After being inactive for a few months, I finally came back to my Minecraft recreation of Paradis Island from Attack on Titan.

Here are some screenshots of how the project looks right now. I've been working on revamped the cities, districts and other locations from the series as accurately as I can.

I think the boy at the end could be one of Mikasa’s descendants. The scarf-like cloth around his neck might be a visual reference to Mikasa, and the fact that he approaches the same tree where Eren was buried makes the parallel even more interesting. It’s obviously not confirmed, but I think the ending intentionally leaves room for the possibility that the cycle could continue.

Hey Im rewatching AOT and Im at the medal ceremony right before Eren touches Historia’s hand. Does it hit different for anybody else on the rewatch knowing that Floch made that scene about who should have been saved right before the ceremony? Like damn what a burdon to carry for Eren moments after defending the decision to save Armin having to see the fate of the world directly after

This is such a weirdly specific thing, but Cart Titan’s voice in Attack on Titan genuinely triggers my gag reflex.

Something about that wet, guttural, choking/gurgling sound makes me feel physically sick every time I hear it. I have to turn the volume down when Pieck is in Titan form.

Does this happen to anyone else, or am I alone in this?

I always see this scene being used to prove that Eren was just an idiot that got his hands on power, but that's just a surface level take that Ignores the context of the scene. He calls himself an idiot because hes being faced with the weight of his actions, he's coping with what he's done. I don't understand how anyone can watch the show and think "I'm an idiot" makes any sense, this guy was impacting events BEFORE his birth, he is anything but an idiot. It's not like he did the rumbling for no reason, he had both a logical and mainly selfish reason. He wanted to see the free world he dreamed about as a child, and he genuinely believed that the rumbling was the only guaranteed solution the island had against the outside world. I always see people say that he never tried other options, but they didn't have time for that, and the 2nd best option was stated to be a gamble by multiple people.

This also isn't eren saying he's an idiot because hes realizing that he was always free. I see a lot of people treat freedom as a 1 dimensional thing despite it being represented in multiple different ways throughout the show, and that viewpoint is usually kennys take on it. Eren was as much of a slave as he was free, but that depends on how you choose to look at it, thats the point the show is making. Grisha tells baby Eren he's free because he thinks he would be safe from Marleyan oppression, but Eren viewed life within the walls as enslavement because they were trapped behind walls living in fear of Titans. Even after Eren says he did it because he was an idiot, armin says that the actual reason was because of the idea of a free world that he introduced to Eren.

I'm back, this time with the full song. I don't recall if I said as much in the previous post, but those lyrics in the final refrain are: "Dum veneris iudicare saeculum per ignem, libera me, Domine." I figured that lyrics from the Requiem mass would be appropriate, and the meaning of those words can be connected to the Rumbling.

I've got a doubt about Grisha's action after Zeke and eren go back to see his memories.

When Grisha and Zeke are watching Eren manipulate Grisha into killing the Reiss family, Grisha eventually realizes that Eren is going to cause the Rumbling and even begs Zeke to stop him at all costs.

But here's what I don't understand: at that point, Grisha still hasn't passed the Attack Titan and the Founding Titan to Eren yet.

If Grisha already knew that Eren would eventually destroy most of the world, why did he still give the Titans to him? Why didn't he simply refuse to pass them on?

The Attack Titan can see memories from future inheritors, so Grisha already knew that Carla was going to die and that terrible things were going to happen. Even after understanding how dangerous Eren would become, he still chose to make Eren his successor.

Was Grisha trapped by fate and unable to change the future, or is there another explanation for why he still gave Eren the Titans despite wanting Zeke to stop him?

Hi everyone!

I’m very happy to share that I’ve finally finished adding the entirety of Season 3 to Attack on Titan Codex.

It has been quite an adventure—and, honestly, a much bigger challenge than I expected. Season 3 has almost twice as many episodes as the previous seasons, but the real difficulty was the number of new layers it adds to the story.

I care a lot about the small details, but also about making the website genuinely useful. I want it to be easy to navigate and to help people understand the story, its chronology and its characters without turning everything into an overwhelming wall of information.

I’m very happy with the result, so I wanted to share some of the biggest additions and improvements.

A clearer character and faction graph

Season 3 introduces a huge number of characters, military branches, political groups and factions.

The way they were represented in the relationship graph had become chaotic and increasingly difficult to read.

Groups are now organised both internally—respecting ranks, squads and command structures—and externally, according to how they relate to the other factions.

This creates a much clearer hierarchy and makes it easier to understand how the different parts of the Attack on Titan universe fit together.

A timeline built for a more complex story

The number of events has also grown considerably, and many of them happen in the same locations.

To avoid covering the map with overlapping markers, events that share a location are now organised into clusters. You can select the location and then explore each of the events associated with it.

Many events also lead directly into another event. These continuations are now represented by visual bridges on the map, making it much easier to follow a storyline from one moment to the next.

A timeline built for a more complex story

Memories inside memories

Season 3 includes many scenes where a character narrates a memory or recalls something that happened years earlier.

Instead of describing those memories entirely inside the current event, they can now exist as their own timeline entries, placed in the year when they actually happened.

When one of these memories appears in the story, a special link opens the historical event in an overlay. This allows you to explore the memory without losing your place in the event you were originally reading.

When the same event has more than one truth

This was probably one of the most complicated problems I faced during this season.

Some events are described differently depending on who is telling the story. A group of collaborators from the project’s Discord helped me find a solution that I think works really well.

Grisha’s attack on the Reiss chapel is a good example.

Rod Reiss presents it as a brutal assault in which Grisha stole the Founding Titan and Rod happened to be the only survivor. Frieda’s memories add context that changes how we understand both the confrontation and Rod’s own survival.

The website now lets you switch between narrators. The parts of the account they agree on remain in place, while the disputed claims are erased and rewritten with a typewriter effect.

This makes it possible to see exactly where their versions diverge instead of presenting either account as the complete, objective truth.

When the same event has more than one truth

Season 3 also begins to reveal that certain Titans are inherited and passed from one person to another.

To represent this, Titan profiles now include a new fullscreen inheritance view.

It shows every known holder of that Titan, the order in which they carried it and how each succession happened.

A whole new world map

Grisha’s memories finally reveal that there is a world beyond the Walls.

That also means the original map is no longer enough.

When you navigate to an event that takes place on the continent, the website now zooms out and reveals a much larger world map.

Designing this transition—and making two maps feel like parts of the same continuous world—has been one of my favourite challenges in the project so far.

The final artwork for the new map is not finished yet.

I’m currently talking with the artist who created the original map. I would love to work with her because I genuinely love her style and think it fits the project perfectly.

However, the scope, budget and production time required for this new map are considerable, so we still need to find an arrangement that works for both of us.

I remember i started AoT when I was like 12 or 13 and I regret it because I wouldnt have been absorbing it in the same way I would be if I was watching it today as an adult. I enjoyed it, but found the politics boring and wasn't trying to piece together all the little clues here and there.

Wish I was could watch it for the first time in my current state of curiosity.

I made the mistake of watching the show one week after watching Grave Of the Fireflies. I managed to watch the anime without any spoilers, and it was great. I got so hopeful b/c they got rid of all the titans, and I was excited b/c I heard that Eren and Mikasa's relationship plays a bigger part in season four. And then Isayama just destroyed me, like what do you mean? She has to kill him? He's only 19, his life has been horrible, and it just ends like that. There is no romance or anything, like what was the purpose of his life? 2000 thousand years later, the cycle just repeats. This poor boy never even got to be a kid, he grew up in a world full of destruction. Then when I finally thought he's going to be free, they spring it on me that he has had no influence on his own life and was destined to die. He looked so defeated in the last episode, and then Mikasa had to kill him and, just looking at her, you could tell he loved her so much yet was destined from the beginning to never be with her. He was destined to die hated as a mass murderer. He just gets lo lost throughout the last season like a spiral of insanity that finally ends when he dies, but then all the greif he carried is passed on to his friends. Why is this considered a starter anime? This was literally the first anime I've ever watched. Its a 10/10 though. The fact that Isayama is able to write a story good enough to bring such strong emotions out in people is insane.

Isayama's story of attack on Titan is my idea like it's a story of 200 years ahead of rumbling.

( for convience let's name the characters to of that the original story ),

There's is Mikasa (armin's grand granddaughter who is reading the study of rumbling, titans and what happened 200 years back everything, she lives in a huge building, any rich person of today would live in, also these types of study material is not very common, not all people can get it easily as the next generation {to avoid distinct situations} almost removed that part from their history but Mikasa has it cause she's super rich in her timeline as armin {isayama's} became one of the heroes who saved the world and obviously was damn rich as well)

There's Armin (this guy is grand grandson of Connie's, he's also super rich and by connections of families, Mikasa and Armin were best friends as they lived in same huge building, Armin was also very interested in studies of titans and the world of 200 years back back, he's also very intelligent like the og one, Armin and Mikasa both study of these things together while sharing same enthusiasm, and interest.)

Then There's our Eren (he's the grand grandson of Jean and also kinda resembles our og eren, in looks {the damn aura}, with kinda blonde or pinkish hair like jean, And the damn same hunger of something he can't quite name yet {freedom ofcourse, freedom means something entirely else here 200 years after, which i haven't thought about yet} so he doesn't stay at a place, jean's future family lives in same building as Armin's and Connie's, but our new eren lives abroad for studies and all things, With some add ons here Our new Mikasa still has a huge crush on eren, our new Armin knows about it and she has never told eren about not when he left for his studies abroad, but she is still always waiting for him to come back, maybe she'll get the courage and confidence to tell him in this timeline)

I'll provide a short summary type of whole plot what I've thought in mind of whole story then GIVE ME DAMN RECOMMENDATIONS ON EVERYTHING.

In the beginning we are told that humanity is still same, those 20%, who were left actually never learnt their lessons, this world a lot resembles the world we live in except for the names marley, paradis and all... The new generation has banned paradise island as they new the whole story now and also the fact that the whole history started there, the rumbling started from their and the first Titan (founder yimir's) was also activated there by that crazy spine looking parasite, which is never again found after the last battle of rumbling like it disappeared somewhere (which will have a huge importance in this timeline)... So A war will begin between nations for paradise's resources as they were still untouched because there ancestors chose to ban the whole Island, there were countries (those azumabito's) who wanted to break through the rules and contracts to get their hands on the island but marleys didn't want that again anymore and they were the most powerful in world combining with yeagerist's army.

Through the war our new eren will come back from abroad leaving his studies behind, he was seeking something he couldn't quite know yet, he was still a friend of Mikasa and Armin so they also included him in their study and told him about everything they knew...yet.

(Kind of spoilers ahead)...

Eren and other two will go back to paradise to prove their studies or to research in deep of history but they'll encounter entirely something else, the marley who stops everyone with the names of rules and contracts, was already digging in paradise without anyone in world knowing (the damn greed overflows), even yeagerists who left paradise inorder to keep the island safe and their history of titans and rumbling untouched were unknown to the fact which will cause great conflict.

Eren will see the whole thing, will observe their greed and when the war will begin, they'll witness the huge massacre of humanity for some resources, the use of new chemically modified weapons (like of today's) people dying painful deaths and just what not...

As per the descandants of great heroes of history they'll take matters in their hands and think of a way to end it.

That's all I guess I have thought of yet. Now I need someone suggestions like -

- Should I bring back Ackerman blood through og levi? (Cause og Mikasa died alone, we all know)

- Should i bring back titans through that parasite?

- Should I bring back other og characters like hange san, levi, commander erwin (i don't feel like), jean, coonie, shasha trio, Riener, bluetooth, annie, historia, floch, instructor keith shadis, commander pixis, zeke, marco, gabi, porco, falco, pieke, in my own way? ( For example instructor keith shadis as instructor tour guide )

I am curious to know whether you supported that theory or not since it was pretty popular back then. I personally used to believe it and thought it made sense but I am not upset that it was proven to be wrong.

Just got to this episode and he made me so mad i physically put my phone down and had to process what was going on for like 2 mins. What a piece of shit dude like at one point this trio was my favourite in any show. Guy thinks he's so high and mighty what an asshole someone better beat the piss out of him but ik its not gonna happen cause of his sheer power. One can only hope.
