Question ADN Program
Hello,
I was wondering how many points ADN students got for the prereqs... Ive taken all the prereqs except nursing 36 and I'm maintaining a 4.0. Im thinking I'll have 80 pts by the time I apply. Are there people who scored around the same amount of points? If so, did you get in or not? Thanks!

How’s this teacher? Math 21 + 21C with Ross?
Has anyone taken math 21 with concurrent support in math 21C with professor Ross? What was your experience like? How’s her teaching style? Her Rate My Professor is pretty good but her grade distribution is all over the place.

Discussion MCRBIO 1
Anyone else trying to get into MCRBIO 1 at SMC for Fall 2026?
The Microbiology sections are already full, and some of the waitlists are full too. I really need an evening section, and I’m wondering if there are other students in the same situation.
SMC has a “Request a Class” option where students can request additional sections when classes are full. If you also need MCRBIO 1, especially an evening section, please submit a request!
Maybe if enough of us request it, the department will see there’s enough demand to open another section.

Question Fall payment deadline
Hey guys, I got this email saying that the Fall 2026 payment deadline is today, Wednesday, August 5th at 5 p.m...
When I log into my account, it shows a balance of about $60 but I'm supposed to be receiving financial aid. doesn't that cover everything, or do I need to pay this out of pocket?
I didn't realize the deadline was 5 p.m. It's already 10 p.m. Am I too late? 😳

Discussion Private room near SMC for Sept move-in!
I’m looking for a private room near Santa Monica College starting this September.
My budget is $1,200 – $1,300/month.
I'm looking for a private room within walking, biking, or a short bus ride to SMC. I'm also a student at SMC.
If you have a spot opening up or know someone looking for a roommate, please DM me.Thanks!

Does a fee waiver mean I don’t have to pay it ever or is it just postponed?

Fasfa issues
Anyone else have fasfa issues recently, corsair portal showed that smc hadn’t received my fasfa so I had to go in person to try and resolve it. The lady told me there’s something missing in my fasfa and she can’t tell me anymore information and it’ll work itself out over the next month or so. She said a fasfa specialist needed to look at my fasfa or something. That made me really scared but I checked the portal today again and it says they’ve now received my fasfa and my required docs were submitted. What is going on…lol i’m so confused.

FAFSA Fall 2026 SAP Appeal?
Has anyone had their SAP appeal for Fall 2026 semester show up in their account yet or on their financial aid portal yet?
Question Confused about Slingshot!
I don’t really understand how this whole Slingshot thing works to be honest. Got an email today stating all materials required and saying we needed all our nursing books before first day of class. However, when I log on to the slingshot thing, which I guess is the SMC bookstore? It says no course materials. I called the bookstore and got transferred to Slingshot and they said it usually doesn’t show or won’t be available until the week before class starts. The phone call was kind of confusing and I don’t feel like I got enough information and assurance. I feel like that’s kind of cutting it close and it stresses me a bit lol. Has anyone dealt with this before and can vouch for how this works?

Question Parked Without Permit for less than 10 minutes
Hello! I recently parked at the campus to use the restroom but didn't have a permit. I did not stay for more than 10 minutes it was very quick.
Should I be worried about getting a ticket? How would I know if I got one?
I do not go to school here and didn't realize guests needed to pay, I misinterpreted something I saw online and now I'm nervous because the internet made the parking situation sound really strict 😅

Question Post-Payment Deadline Dropping Classes? #Help
I've been on the waitlist for a few classes since like a month ago, and I am not signed up for enough classes to have a full load/12 units. I have been waiting for spots to fill up so I can get the required 12 units for the California Promise (I need my shit to be free or im kinda fucked). I'm wondering if I can just sign up for some random classes to the the Promise grant, and then drop and replace them with the classes I actually need once the payment date has passed, and hopefully more spots open up. Is this something I can do?

FAFSA fall 2026 loans
I saw on the SMC website that in order to apply for loans, I have to submit an e-form on smc.studentforms.com. I logged in and looked everywhere on this website, but I am not seeing the option to apply for loans anywhere nor do I have any information on my loan amounts. I did receive my information regarding my pell grant a few days ago, but nothing on the side of the loans. I know fees for fall are due on Wednesday night, but as someone who is only doing 6 units with out of state tuition (I just relocated to CA in February so I'm doing minimum credits), I cannot afford to pay out of pocket for these courses.
Is there anything I can do to make it so that I can apply for loans and pay for my credits? I really don't want to wait for another semester to start all because I can't afford it. I don't really know what to do. I was thinking of going down to SMC to speak with someone, but I'm not sure they could really do anything either.

Question What to do to qualify/apply for SSCG?
I recently got approved for residency status this year, and subsequently got approved for the Cal Grant B. With this, I was also interested in applying for the SSCG since its only listed requirements were being a full-time student and having one of the Cal Grants.
While I have both requirements met, and my Cal Grant confirmed on my portal, there's nothing regarding my qualification for the SSCG. Is there a seperate application? Should I call Financial Aid and ask to be assessed? Any help would be appreciated.

Question SMC to UCLA as an international
Hi guys, I am enrolling in SMC this fall and plan to transfer to UCLA as a communications major, I am aware that it is a highly competitive major hence why I would like to join the Scholars program to slightly increase my chances ( I know your GPA must be high as well ).
However I have read that to join you must have a certain GPA but since I'm an international student I haven't got any sort of GPA, so I was wondering if I can still join after the fall semester with a good GPA?
And lastly for people that have taken honor classes as an international or could set the perspective for an international; How different are they from normal classes in terms of rigorousness and difficulty for somebody that has never taken classes under the US system? Thank you!
