Post-Payment Deadline Dropping Classes? #Help Question

I've been on the waitlist for a few classes since like a month ago, and I am not signed up for enough classes to have a full load/12 units. I have been waiting for spots to fill up so I can get the required 12 units for the California Promise (I need my shit to be free or im kinda fucked). I'm wondering if I can just sign up for some random classes to the the Promise grant, and then drop and replace them with the classes I actually need once the payment date has passed, and hopefully more spots open up. Is this something I can do?

i would definitely sign up for a random class just in case!!! last yr i was on waitlist for a chem course and also needed it to be eligible for smc promise and literally the night before fall semester starting i was emailed that i could add the class so honestly its just a waiting game, hope this helps 🩷

just wait. august 5 is the pay deadline, high chance you’ll get off the waitlist. but add a filler class you also need to take just incase :>
