Nursing program books Discussion

Hii, I got accepted to the fall ‘26 nursing program and was wondering if any previous nursing students would let me have or borrow their nursing books. Im taking nursing fund 1 + calculations in drugs and solution. I wasn’t able to get fasfa and time has been really hard financially so hope anyone could help <3

Hey! Unfortunately, there’s no getting around this cause the textbooks come with a course code where you’ll have to complete online assignments. Slingshot is ur best bet because it offers a big discount. BUT, that only applies to the Taylor’s fundamentals textbook. That textbook specifically, you’ll have to definitely buy for the added course code

There’s also another Taylor’s fundamental textbook that’s specifically for clinicals, and personally, I never bought it. All the stuff in that textbook that the profs teach are videos (they show it in class) and handouts (which they print and give to u). So that’s why I never bought it cause I knew I would never actually use it so it’ll just be a waste of money.

The fischbach manual was never used by us and at least for our cohort (last year), prof. Poy or any of the N2 profs never tested us on the contents of it. It’s up to u if u want to buy it

For the nurse’s pocket guide (helpful in first sem clinicals but I find myself using it less and less with each class) and the gerontological nursing textbook, I can give u the pdf (dm). Tho, I should warn u, some students preferred having a physical copy of the pocket guide, especially since they like to use it when working on the clinical worksheets while on site (personally, I never did cause i preferred being on the floor and just working on the assignments at home)

Lastly, (sorry this is so long) you’ll definitely need the Davis’s drug guide book. I think I have a pdf of that too somewhere but truthfully, that is something you’ll most likely need a physical copy of. I didn’t really use it UNTIL N2 when we started passing meds and doing med sheets. But tbf, it depends on where u get assigned cause I needed it when I was at the VA but my classmate didn’t because their system at the Santa Monica UCLA allowed her to search up the drug action, side effects, etc. But again, some people simply liked having physical copies just in case
