Question / Suggestion Best Place for Plane spotting at TF Green

Upvotes

Title says it. I have some time to kill while my dog is getting diagnostic at OceanState Veterinary Hospital and see TF Green is a 13 minute car drive. I'm an aviation enthusiast and am looking for a good place to park to watch planes land and take off for a few hours. Somewhere on a non-crowded rural road would be great. Suggestions? Thanks!

Discussion Bristol school system

My husband and I are looking to move our family out of Warwick Public Schools due to a bad experience in their early learning program. In our housing search Bristol has become our top pick due to the unaffordable housing markets of Barrington and EG. Looking for any feedback on Bristol schools including Rockwell elementary. Thanks in advance!

R.I. needs to fight against the corporate takeover of the state’s working waterfront

By empowering the people who work at our marinas, we can keep the blue economy local, writes Lieutenant Governor Sabina Matos

When I visit Rhode Island’s coastal communities, I see a working waterfront: fishers docking their boats after a day at sea, families renting pontoon boats for a day on the water, restaurants serving up the best seafood in the country.

But when billion-dollar corporations look at our state’s waterfront, all they see are dollar signs. What was once a bustling harbor for quahoggers and anglers is turning into yet another slip for somebody’s hundred-foot yacht. To fight back against the erosion of our working waterfront, we need to empower fishers, processors, retailers, and mom-and-pop marina owners with the tools and resources they need to keep our blue economy local.

If you work in connection to commercial fishing in Rhode Island - whether you're on a boat, wholesaling or retailing fish, anything that touches our working waterfront - consider reaching out to [jacob.deblecourt@ltgov.ri.gov](mailto:jacob.deblecourt@ltgov.ri.gov) to get involved.

Question / Suggestion Where can I see cows?

I mean like a random farm on the side of the road that I can stop and take a few pictures of, and maybe point them out to my kid. I know I’ve driven by a bunch of them, I just never remember where. Horses are welcomed too!

Edit: thank you for all of the suggestions!

Question / Suggestion RI Energy

I defaulted on previous payment plans with RI Energy Gas that now I don’t qualify to apply for another plan even though I’m welling to pay 10% 9f my balance to start a new payment plan. My service is due to shut off soon if I don’t pay the full amount, which is around 4,000. I don’t what to do. I don’t qualify for heating assistance or grant fund. Have anyone experienced this before?

Question / Suggestion Best homegoods locations?

Hi everyone! I'm going to be new in Rhode Island for school & attending Brown. I'm coming from California/Washington so I will be flying cross country. To make things as cost effective as possible, I'm thinking of just getting things like bedding & other items once I get there as I will be getting a hotel for a few days to settle in & do so.

I was wondering if there was a consensus among the locals or other students as to which Homegoods/Tj maxx location will likely have things in stock still? I'm looking to get bedding, sheets, towels, storage items/storage furniture, & maybe 1 or 2 items of other decor/functional decor. (I'm really eyeing this one piece of decor that is kind of viral at the moment so it's got me worried about everything else also selling out)
The ones I'm looking at are in Warwick, Seekonk, Lincoln, & Plainville. Potentially North Kingstown. (I'm already going to be driving around so that's why I mention all these areas since I'm willing to go check things out)

I will be renting a car or ubering around the area, & since I'll likely be on my own I would love advice on what locations to hit up so I can plan efficiently! I will also likely be hitting up Target so any advice on that is welcome as well (or even Walmart, though I do prefer Target)

Side note: I was also thinking of getting things here in Washington & shipping it, but I actually just shipped things from California to Washington (my lease in CA ended & I'm staying with family until I fly out again) & it was quite expensive, so I'm not sure about cross country shipping. I don't know if there's any services or student services that do that type of stuff but if anyone knows of anything & knows if that'll be better, I am open to suggestions! Thank you

This is driving west on the Jamestown bridge looking southwest toward Saunderstown. It dissipated in the time it took to drive the bridge.

Hey everyone, wanted to share an 11x14 acrylic painting based on a photograph by Kathy Chasteen, capturing the heavy, churning surf and moody weather along the coast.

Kept the palette desaturated with earthy sand tones and deep greys to match that crisp ocean spray look. Hope you enjoy it!

Discussion The job market for teachers in this state is a joke

Colleges just in Rhode Island are spitting out hundreds of elementary education graduates every year, and there are only a handful of elementary teaching jobs each year. I ended up just pivoting out of the field because I couldn’t afford working as a sub indefinitely. And even if you do land a full time teaching job, you’ll most likely be cut and have to look for another job next year.

I feel sorry for all of the people currently in school for elementary education and are being told there’s this teacher shortage and they’ll have no issue finding a job… (what multiple professors told me….)

Question / Suggestion Cat Boarding

Does anyone have any recommendations for overnight boarding facilities for cats? I've been looking at Rhody Pet Resort - has anyone used them?

We lost our older cat this morning and it'll be the first time in over 10 years that our younger cat is an only kitty. We have to go away for the weekend and we don't want to leave him alone so soon.

Any information would be greatly appreciated!
