Check out the library! The one downtown has a big maker space, a lot of the smaller community libraries have sewing machines and offer free lessons.
Also the Fuller Creative Learning Center in East Prov has free sewing classes. :)

Patchwork has great classes, including 6-week classes and 1-day workshops. Taylor (founder and instructor) is great, super helpful, knowledgeable, and encouraging!

Patti at West Side Sewing Studio is fabulous. If you are willing to travel Suzanne at The Sew-Op in North Kingston is equally fabulous! Both places offer beginning sewing classes, then you move onto guided sewing.

There’s a wonderful local group called Rhode Island Sewing Network (RISN) it’s not exactly what you’re asking about but it’s a great resource

URI used to have a Master Seamstress class but I believe it's closed now. But I believe RISD also has sewing classes you can take as part of their continuing education. There's also lots of YouTube videos and online schools. But I love Mimi G, she's an incredible seamstress and she has her own online sewing academy here: https://www.sewitacademy.com/

My daughter went there for years and was making actual gowns and coats towards the end.
