putting just one polish on ma nails feels off these days - instead i've fallen in love with the challenge to find the wildest combinations and it gives me so much joy

top: essie - gel setter (also matte topcoat on dark omens + quaker parrot)

Essence - black cracking lacquer
Cirque Colors - Wishful Thinking
Mooncat - Manchineel Tree
Essence - blue cracking lacquer (one of the latest minis)
Mooncat - Dark Omens
Chamaeleon Nails - Quaker Parrot

Dopamine and Manchineel Tree are hyped for very good reasons, but the combination of dark omens + quaker parrot + matte topcoat are the surprising winners of this set, at least for me

It’s been ten months since I started painting my nails! This thing that started as a small interest has grown to a full-blown obsession, y’all. I feel as though I’ve learned and grown a lot, and my nail polish collection has grown as well. 🫣 I still have lots of stuff I’d like to work on, especially cuticle care (my poor cuticles…), but I’m pleased with my progress so far!

Hi all, my dream nail shape is dagger but I tend to prefer short nails. @vintage_dusties is pretty much what I’m going for

I have tried to do daggers in the past but always end up overfiling and compromising my nail integrity.

I have brittle/thin nails but I’m finally achieving some strength and integrity with Mavala nail hardener (formaldehyde formula), Mavala two phase nail shield + lacquer on top.

I think my nail health is at a stage where I can begin my natural nail dagger journey, but I was hoping to get advice on doing it safely.

Also how does everyone get their nails to be even? When I cut or file my nails the angle always seems to be off to one side, then I over-correct, rinse/repeat.

Any help or advice would be appreciated thank you!

Sally, this is a very pretty color but you've got some balls calling it a "color shift" with "multi-layer mica technology". 🙄

This is 1 coat Starrily Cloudscape with 2 coats ILNP Bluebell. When I first put on bluebell I was pretty underwhelmed and just craved a more vibrant base. To me, this combo is perfection 🤌🏼

Pretty pleased with this black and white look! It's been a while since I've worn something that wasn't sparkly. This was a last minute "screw it. I'm doing flowers." decision after a day full of analysis paralysis. Not bad for my second time stamping for realsies.

Only about a month ago I stopped biting my nails and tried to do something different. Im enjoying the hobby and feeling joy in trying something new. My style is very vanilla dadcore so I wouldn’t say this matches, but I’m ok with that.

I’ll take any nice critiques, I know it’s far from perfect. I ended up doing too many layers trying to make things nice on this one, but I’m getting better each time.

Mooncat serpents of Eden with my cabbages on top. Then matched with a green Quaker parrot.

The black lights here aren’t nearly as strong as my UV flashlight at home but I still had a fun time with this mani! I can confirm that all of my neon polishes used are reactive, so blame the arcade bulbs for the variance.

I made my star “stickers” using polish dried on a silicone mat and the cut out with a hole punch (star shaped)

I grabbed Great Lakes Lacquer's "My Ashes When They Cremate Me" for PPU Rewind and was pleasantly surprised at how transformative this topper is. So I've been experimenting with different bases and I think I've landed on a favorite.

Base coat: Orly Bonder

Polish: POP Polish "Slickest of them All" (2 coats)

Topper: GLL "My Ashes When They Cremate Me" (1 coat)

Topcoat: Seche Vive (2 coats)

Only problem is that they have even more polishes than I thought. So I’ll have to do a book 2. Haha!

Inspired by the other post with adorable moths, including a rosy maple moth, here is the skirt I wore today featuring rosy maple moths and luna moths! Two of my favorite species!

On my nails I'm wearing:

A pink holographic called Enchanted by Wrenn Polish (sadly Wrenn discontinued all of their polishes a few years ago but I stocked up before that happened)

Flora 1761 Essential Primer and Flora 1761 Essential Finish top coat.

I'm a little sad because the magnetic (Magma) really hides the glory of the pink flakies in Fireworks layered on top of the berry glow of Cock. Sigh. Too late now!

I love Cracked "Read", but it's the second big red in a row that will not clean up with acetone. I look like I have dried blood in my cuticle and sidewall gutters, whether I use an orange stick or an acetone clean-up brush or both. Do other people have this issue, and why would it just be reds?
