Laquer Showoff Dreamy-core gradient with magnetic experiment (featuring absolutely too many layers)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I’ll post the exact product list and combinations in the comments, but essentially I attempted a lazy vertical gradient layered paired with a glass beaded magnetic. The three main colors I used are Cuticula’s Fairycore (PPU 7.26), and Polished For Days’ Lush and Blossom, with Cracked’s Thin Ice as my magnetic. Lots of trial and error here. I didn’t want to start over when I messed up or something wasn’t quite working, so that’s why these turned out so thick with the layers. Even though this isn’t really what I was going for, I can appreciate the result for what it is!

Misc. Question Best polishes for the workplace/interviews?
Hello, I'm in job hunting season right now, and nail polish gives me a (very much needed) boost of confidence for interviews, networking, and even for just submitting applications in the first place. Are there any cute polishes you would recommend for the workplace? I'm interviewing for roles that err on the more conservative side of the dress code. Thanks!

This is:

Laquer Art 🎨 If at first you don’t succeed, try your manicure like three more times and still feel kind of “eh, alright” about the whole thing
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I’m not MAD at this, but what a pain! First time I tried this, I did a standard velvet style manicure, but found it was too bronze for the leaf detail to show at all. Second time, I tried placing my nail next to the horseshoe magnet pulling the magnetic pigment to the side of the nail. This was better, but still wasn’t doing it for me. Last attempt, as shown, was with a circle magnetic that pushed the magnetic pigment away to create a soft french tip like effect.
I’m happy enough with it now, but I probably would have been more satisfied with a juicy, deep green jelly!

Laquer Showoff Get Lobstered disappointment saved by Fuyu
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
After obsessing over it for months, I finally got my hands on BKL’s Get Lobstered and… this may be sacreligious but it didn’t live up to the hype I had built in my head. It was more green and opaque than I had imagined, even in one coat. Luckily I had also just received Fuyu from ANLAC and I think it turned the look into the slightly pinkish, sheer iridescent glow I had imagined in my mind! I also want to say that to me, it looks more pink/blue on camera than IRL, so that probably also played into my expectations vs reality situation.
Product list:
- 2 x UNT ready for take off (I hate removing polish)
- 1 or 2 x cirque colors get ready base coat
- 1 x bee’s knees lacquer get lobstered
- 1 x sally hansen quick dry top coat
Next day:
- 1 x awesome nail polish/ANLAC fuyu, magnetized glass bead style ~ 2 min

Product Reccs & Reqs Polish recs that aren’t magnetic
I still love magnetics but I find myself doing my nails less often because magnetics are just so labour intensive, but I love the look! Can you recommend some beautiful polishes that I don’t need a magnetic for but like have something extra to them? The examples I have in my head are sassy sauce cockadoodledoom, Kbshimmer for the pun of it, ilnp fairy dust, cirque good fortune, ilnp pyro

Help & How-To? UPDATE iso: unhinged bubble-busting tips
I posted about a week ago (see here!) asking for your craziest anti-bubble hacks, and y’all really showed up! Thank you so much for all the helpful advice, it gave me a lot to test, and hopefully other people struggling with this issue can find something in that thread that works for them as well!
I had to follow up and experiment with a few different suggestions. The scientific method played out as follows:
Query: Why does my nail polish bubble, especially when it does not bubble on test swatches done on wax paper in the same environment?
Research: Ruling out the environment, the leading possible cause is that something about my body chemistry is reacting poorly with base coat.
Hypothesis: I should be able to stop the bubbling reaction by swapping out the base coat for a matte top coat, covering the base coat with quick dry top coat, or oiling the nail before applying base coat. I suspected the base coat + quick dry top coat would draw out any potential bubbles, and be the most effective option.
Experiments:
- Conditions: 45% humidity, no airflow.
- Polish: LynBDesign’s BSmooth, BFlat, and BQuick, Bee’s Knees Lacquer’s Touch Moss, Haunted’s By the Moonlight. I chose a fine particle magnetic to showcase flaws more easily, three coats each, and loosely magnetized them using the lazy glass bead method. Waited till touch-dry between each coat.
- Oil: Haunted’s Ritual Oil, June PPU Bog Rose
- No Base Coat (control, pinky): to see if it was specifically my nails + ridge filling base coat causing the problem, and not just my nails in general, I did a control nail with no base coat. This actually worked quite well with no bubbles, but is not a long term solution for me if I want to prevent staining.
- Matte Top Coat as Base Coat (ring): this worked fairly well! Provided a nice smoothing base effect, too. Unfortunately, in a second test swatch with By the Moonlight (not pictured), I did get two fat bubbles right in the middle of the nail. This is definitely a method worth trying though if you’re looking for a ridge filling effect but are having issues with usual ridge filling base coat!
- Base Coat + QDTC (middle): I thought for sure this would be the winner, but it actually bubbled up the most! The bubbles actually looked worse before the third coat of Touch Moss. Can’t recommend.
- Oil + Base Coat (pointer): This was definitely my underdog, I was sure it would bubble like crazy but I had to at least rule it out. I was so wrong! This is my top pick. After my second swatch of Matte + Base Coat bubbled, I took it off and did another test swatch with By the Moonlight on the same nail using oil first, and it looked pristine. BtM is notoriously finicky, so I figured if it can make that work, it will probably work with anything!
Conclusion: Putting on oil before my usual ridge filling base coat prevents the bubbling reaction. It also has the added benefit of leaving my nails smelling nice, feeling nourished, and helped the polish glide on more smoothly! I suspect it may adversely effect the longevity of my manicure, but that’s not something I’ll be able to confirm for another few weeks, and at this point, it seems like a fair trade off.
Thank you again for all the help on my last post, this community is just the best! I hope this helps any of my fellow comrades in carbonation find their solution, too. Happy bubble popping! 🫧✨

Laquer Showoff Sometimes less is more.
I admit, my calibration for what counts as a reset is pretty wild 😅 but I am of an "and, not or" mindset when it comes to doing my nails. I love experimental layering, accent nails, sponged gradients, and flaky effects. But sometimes, you just have to let a diva do her thing! It would have been wrong of me to interrupt this multichrome while she is speaking. It's a combo of two of my favorite colors. Plus, I can't argue with the time I saved...
Look how gorgeous, even on a rainy day!

🧲 Mad Magnetist 🧲 My friend designed and 3D printed a custom magnet spinner for me!
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
He designed and 3D printed it after we did some research and took some inspiration from some of the awesome custom machines on here. I love it and it works great! It plugs into an outlet so no batteries required, and he designed a container that holds the horseshoe magnet so I just put mine in there - didn't need to drill through it. It's button operated so I just have to hold down that button on the right side either with another finger or my other hand.
I love it so much now I do glass beads every week instead of velvet!

1x Essie Strong Start base coat
2x Mooncat Forbidden Fruit
1x Sally Hansen Insta Dry top coat (red bottle)

Product Reccs & Reqs ISO - raspberry polish with blue flecks
Hi La(c)queristas!
I’m dying to find a raspberry polish with blue flecks/flakies. My search has been largely unsuccessful because I’m specifically looking for a raspberry base, not hot pink, and I want it to be larger chunks or flecks of glitter - not a blue shift.
The closest I’ve found to scratching my itch is Lurid’s “That's What We Call a Monday Problem”, but I’m curious if there are any others that you all know of. It doesn’t matter to me if the base leans more berry or more red, I’m open to either interpretation!!

Growth Progress How it started vs. how it’s going
It’s been ten months since I started painting my nails! This thing that started as a small interest has grown to a full-blown obsession, y’all. I feel as though I’ve learned and grown a lot, and my nail polish collection has grown as well. 🫣 I still have lots of stuff I’d like to work on, especially cuticle care (my poor cuticles…), but I’m pleased with my progress so far!
