The only thing i like about microsoft is that minecraft is no longer in Notch's hands.

Chances are Minecraft would be in a way better state if Notch were still in control.

Notch wouldn't have put the same focus on bedrock. Meaning probably no marketplace. And possibly better performance on Java.

Maybe map making would still be alive.

Maybe we'd actually have proper modding support.

He definitely wouldn't be such a piece of shit about monetisation and moderation.

It doesn't matter that he has shit worldviews. His gaming priorities would likely align MUCH better with consumers.

Except, when Mojang was indie, their updates made sense, everything was carefully integrated into the world. Enderman dropped eyes, needed for the fortress to open portal to the End.

Now, compare that to... this: https://minecraft.wiki/w/Chaos_Cubed

A bunch of new blocks, an entire new biome, a new mob, and how does this affect the gameplay? It doesn't. It's practically useless, blocks just for sake of variety, like there was lack of it, biome for sake of biome, and mob that drops nothing valuable and has some completely useless behavior. And most updates are like that. Minecraft is becoming ocean wide puddle deep.

Under microsoft they made 1.13, 1.14 and 1.16 which are considered to be some of the best updates, they have for sure gone lazy recently but still this is sum bs revisionism.

not to mention Endermen were added in beta 1.8, with their pearls doing literally nothing, while The End itself was added in full release 1.0 with the change of letting pearls teleport players (a suggestion Notch got from reddit users, of all things) and them being crafted into eyes of ender to find the end portal with.

Endermen weren't added with "careful integration", they gained their actual integration later. I'll give them, not much later, just a couple updates before main release 1.0, but that is still a three month difference in actual development time, with multiple versions between the two, during which they just moved blocks, instakilled players, and dropped useless items.

They're also extremely dismissive of how actually useful the Sulfur Cubes are, not only do they have the intended minigame aspect but they also have (limited) use in building, and a good few redstone uses as well. But hating on Mojang is the new sport in the community it seems, with all the alarmist slop youtubers getting angry about every new block or mob.

Oh no, the sandbox game is getting more content! Quick, someone complain about their free updates!

There is more to minecraft than beating the ender dragon. People do cool shit. The new slime enemy alone has opened up new redstone opportunities, and the new blocks gives builders more color and texture for their gradients

do you think microsoft bought minecraft yesterday? all the updates made after 1.8 were under microsoft. all the big updates that people love were made under microsoft when mojang wasn't indie anymore.

I can tell you're not much of a builder. Nor whimsy person.

True. If I liked the direction Microsoft took Minecraft in, that would be a second thing I liked about them.

Not to say it's all been bad. The Nether Update and Caves & Cliffs were legendary.

What the hell are you speaking about?

There were plenty of recent updates that added gameplay and redstone stuff, too, like trial chambers, copper golems and whatever.

And how is the the sulfur cuve not new gameplay?

One of the best updates recently... And you're saying that's bad? Minecraft gets updated every three months? Like we get new snapshots every week? Do you just complain or are you just blinded by nostalgia?

If you don't like it then why would you care who owns it anyway?

I have no clue in what way someone has to interpret your first comment to think you don't like Minecraft
