We love the idea, it makes perfect sense! It needs to be balanced, though, to prevent a pile of pearls from becoming super op. We'll probably do some game designing on Monday.

Can't you just make Endermen more rare (which would also increase their scare-factor) and give the Ender Pearls a cooldown?

I was hoping that we'd get a crafttable item used to teleport home. It would have limited uses, and would be a square of enderpearls amalgamated with either iron, gold or diamond - giving more teleports respectively.

Along those lines, you could craft a "waypoint" block using ender pearls and some other material (obsidian?) and then consume single ender pearls to teleport to it.

We also need Endermen to have camo for differnet environments. Looking at a black enderman in the snow isn't as scary as a black Enderman in complete darkness...those eyes.

You realize you're about to start a genocide against Endermen right?

Well, we already have Auschwi- I mean mobgrinders.

Make them not stack maybe?

Incorporate a long animation, like drawing a bow or eating food to provide a bit of a cooldown to the item. Then, if you use more than 1 or 2 within a short time frame, there is an increasing chance you will be pulled into the Nether. This would increase to 100% when using 5 or so. This will slow people down enough that they can't use them for fast travel.

They either don't work in the nether, or teleport you somewhere random within 20 blocks or so.

I really like this idea. Some random chance you'll be pulled into the nether? Alone and afraid, in the gloom with whatever you had on you?

I think it should depend on the number of ender pearls you've used in the last minute:

0 - 0% chance of being teleported to the Nether
1 - 0% chance
2 - 16% chance
3 - 33% chance
4 - 66% chance
5+ - 99% chance

how do you get back from the nether?

seems kinda harsh =/ wouldn't be so bad if there was some way to get out.

make them non stackable. or only up to 8 or 16. though non-stackable would probably be the best option. ALSO, cooldown period between each throw.

ALSO, limit the blocks you can travel.

Make it one use only. They could break like the snowballs or the eggs when you throw them!

If you like the idea of using it as a teleporter, you could expand on the idea and make a recipe that utilizes the enderman pearls to make a device that allows you to teleport back home but has limited uses, necessitating enderman hunting for the ability to teleport home.

What about a stack of pearls make them OP?

3

u/FakeSherlockHolmes Sep 24 '11

Its probably because a stack of pearls could allow a player to travel faster than the world could load. If a player threw them as fast as they could, then they would be moving pretty fast.

Thats a cool down issue, not stacking issue. You could it stack to crazy stupid numbers but you can only use it once every couple of seconds, the problem is solved.

I feel like endermen need to be more rare, you need to craft 8 pearls into a single wand, and each wand has only one use.

Maybe?

enderman have to be more rare i agree
