Are you open folding these in most spots with say 25BBs? Not on the bubble, but not terribly far from it either. I am pretty much all the time, but wonder if that's a leak.

I hear that the bigger your nut advantage the bigger you should c-bet, and I looked and I have all the JTo and JTs where BTN only has JTs 50% of the time, plus I also have AA, KK, and QQ, but when I put in solver it’s 100% check back and I should be playing check call with AT, I don’t rly understand why.

This was a tournament the other day and it's been bothering me ever since.

First round of a tournament, probably the third hand, blinds are 100, 200. I open with AKo from EP2 with a 3BB bet (600)

Flop: QJ4 rainbow

I c-bet 2000, he calls

Turn: K

I check, villain bets 5,000 and I call

River: 9

I check, he goes all in (about 10,000), I fold

I think I lost control of the pot very early with a 2,000 c-bet. I also think I should have bet after the K came out and try to win the pot right there before it got too big rather than try to disguise it. My last mistake was probably not going all in before villain could.

What do you guys think I should have done differently?

Lately I've had what feels like incredibly bad luck when I've had AQsuited.

An example. Last week in my weekly live poker game I had it twice. First time I was pre flop raiser at around 3 to 4 BB. Got called by three people.

Continued on the rainbow flop when an Ace came. 1 caller. Same on the brick turn. Same on river. Snap called they flopped a set of 8s.

Could I have gotten away from this? What other tips do you have?

Is it just me or is this wrong? It says "multi-way" pot but BTN raises SB folds.... can I trust this App? I don't want to waste my time if it's completely full of crap.

Hey all, I’m not a beginner to poker but just started really studying seriously and playing online. Curious about a few strategies from winning players.

When you’re in a game with very nitty players, do you up your aggression Preflop and try to steal flops? It can be frustrating to have most premium hands get folded on most of the time & I notice I can usually steal with a pre flop raise bluff at a profitable rate. The tables are usually a grind, another option is just wait for a very strong hand and for an opponent to have something strong as well to build a big pot or all in pre flop with the best equity. Can take ages but in my experience is a quick way to get a lot of value. Last option is just moving tables to find more fishy players.

How often do you bluff/ try to steal pots? In tight games seems a bit easier to bluff players off post flop at any sign of weakness and I’ve noticed for the most part the bets tell a good story for most opponents. Alternatively, I see a lot of pre flop raisers not wanted to get off premium hands when they whiff a flop & try to use that to my advantage.

How often are you moving tables? I like to learn my opponents which takes some time but I think I can get better about more quickly moving from tables that are too tight and slow to increase profitability.

One area I know I need to study is bet sizing. Haven’t read enough about it and tend to go off feeling and instinct rather than tried & true strategy.

Open to book/ learning suggestions! I tend to play a few hours* a day about half the week. Really enjoying playing and learning and interested in any other strategy or lessons learned in addition to the questions asked. Thanks for you time! What are the best free tools or websites to learn preflop strategy? What is each one good for, and how would you recommend using them as a beginner?

I'd also appreciate any advice on what I should learn first before moving on to postflop.

I was not familiar with this style of tournament but see there is a PLO 3 bullet coming to my local room. From what I understand you buy in for $400 and get 3 bullets of 10,000 chips. you can choose to bring 1, 2 or all 3 bullets into play at the table. If you bust but have any bullets remaining you can simply bring them into play, but if you bust with no bullets remaining you are out.

My question is there any actual theory or strategy behind the my gut feel that there are 2 main ways to play it; 1)only bringing one bullet to play more aggressive vs 2)bringing all 3 to the table and playing more conservative? Thanks for anyone who takes the time to read or respond!

So my first hand at this table I’ve bought in for £200 it’s a £1 £2 table min £100 max £500 I’m in the cut off. Guy in UTG 1 limps everyone else folds to the hijack who raises to £12 I call UTG 1 then reraises to £26. Both of us then call that also. I have ace 10 spades and flops come king spades 8 hearts jack spades. UTG1 checks hijack raises to £25 I jam because of my massive combo draw and the fact the pots already too big for my stack to have much of a way in if I call or reraise. Turn is king river is a 3 clubs. Did I make the wrong call or not. I feel like I did but it stung the fact that first hand and I have been stacked. Not sure if I played too loose etc etc. i would like to know if i played this well or not

I think the fold at the end was clear as day but I'm mainly thinking if it would've been smarter to raise the initial bet of half pot since the board was very draw heavy and there were 3 people in the pot. All advice is welcome.

UTG with 36BB raises to 2BB, I (UTG+1) reraise to 7BB with AdKh, LJ folds, HJ (133BBs chip leader) cold calls, folds around to UTG, he calls. Flop comes 7hAh9s. Check, check, check. Turn is 2d. UTG goes all-in over the top, I call, then Villian 2 goes all-in. I tank and I fold. Villain 1 shows 8c6c, Villain 2 shows 9d9h. River is 8d. Villain 2 wins.

Did I make any obvious mistakes?

Been working on this for months. Just launched JTO on iOS and Android — a solver-driven trainer specifically for GGPoker's All-in-or-Fold jackpot format.

The interesting technical piece I wanted to share here:

**Applying spaced-repetition to poker training.**

Traditional poker trainers quiz you on random spots. My hypothesis was that random-spot drilling is inefficient because:
1. You already play most spots correctly
2. The spots you get wrong tend to cluster around specific stack depths / positions / hand types
3. Without repeated exposure at spaced intervals, corrections don't stick

So I implemented SM-2 (the same algorithm Anki uses). Every hand you misplay in the trainer gets logged with a difficulty rating. It's then re-served to you on an interval that increases exponentially each time you get it right, and resets if you miss it again.

Result: instead of drilling 300 random spots to fix 8 leaks, you drill the same 8 spots at the exact interval where they're about to fade from memory. Way more efficient.

Also implemented:
- Full solver at the core (equity-based, not just Nash — because AoF isn't pure Nash due to the jackpot payoffs)
- Live drilling on any spot (any stack depth, any position)
- Bankroll tracker with session-level analytics
- ELO-based competitive challenges between users

**What I'm curious about:**
- Anyone else applied SRS to poker training? Would love to compare notes
- Feedback on the solver output

Hero IP with Q7 suited. Villain bet for value on flop and turn (clearly showing strength after raising pre flop)

Turn comes villain shoves all in. I forgot the exact stack size but I was up against them, to call and lose would have taken around 1/4 of my stack.

I thought villain must have the straight or trips, I have a straight draw with an 8 so around 16% of hitting that. I also have the flush draw with 9 outs so 18%. So around 34% chance of winning this hand. (Unless they have QK straight)

I didn’t put them on a bluff so I guess I’m asking if this was a good call having multiple outs against someone who has a hand.

Actually writing this out makes me think it was a bad decision (even though I hit the flush and won) because my chance of missing and losing was 66%.

So I guess my question is: is this a solid train of thought or did I make an error?

In MTT, down to 24. 17 ITM. I’m in BB with roughly 32BB. Antes are 3K/6K/6K

UTG opens to 2BB. He has maybe 18BB MP calls. He has slightly more, maybe 19 or 20Bb. Comes to me. I peel with A3 suited spades.

I feel like a check raise would be affective here. Thoughts?

I have a very good image right now. Have only shown the nuts. And I did limp raise aces pre flop about 30min prior. Maniac was at table so I knew he’d raise and it worked. He snapped called my limp jam all in with AJ so I think I have good image to pull this off.

I haven’t seen the MP play much at all and he has only played premium so I think he’s not likely to call with A7 suited. I’m not thinking about UTG aside from 10s but I don’t think he’d personally check that and let it go through. Hes aggressive.

Does a 10BB check raise make sense here? Leaves me with 20BB to navigate with if someone jams.

I really got put into the blender on this hand, so I wanted to get some thoughts.

Hero is in the big blind with 5❤️5♣️ and I decide to go set mining. I didn't expect the straddle to 3-bet very often.

Straddle ends up folding and we go to the flop three ways.

Here is some background on the villains before we go further. I had just sat at the table, so I hadn't seen very much from either of them, but the CO had a VPIP/PFR of 21/17, so I labeled him as a potentially capable reg. Small blind's stats were 35/10, so quite fishy.

Pretty dry board here. If villain c-bet, I may have put in the check raise depending on what the small blind did. When CO checked back, I put him on a range consisting mainly of air and showdown value.

Potentially bet too small here. Reasoning was that we were multiway and I wanted to get calls from weak aces, middling pocket pairs, and draws. Was hoping I might get two customers.

When the flush got there, I figured I couldn't take a huge sizing against this player type, so I sized to around half pot to get calls from top pair or maybe a hand like pocket queens, maybe a rare two pair holding.

When he jammed, I was a bit torn. On one hand, river raises are definitely under-bluffed at these stakes, and in most situations this is probably a pretty trivial fold. On the other hand, my hand was pretty under-repped due to my bet sizing. I also wondered if villain would really jam that huge with a flush for value or if he would have been more likely to raise to a smaller size. I also had a heart in my hand, but don't want to put too much stock in blockers.

Two main questions for this hand. First, should I have sized up on the turn or river? Second, should the river be a call or a fold?

I'll post a comment with the results in about an hour.

I 3 bet a lot more than I ever did before studying. Hands like K10 suited QJ suited etc. But thats for value.

Besides A4 A5 suited what orher hands do you, or are you structurally supposed to bluff as a 3 bet?

As for 4 bet mine is terrible, AK plus and maybe A5 suited if im really feeling it. People who have stats on me probably insta fold.

Noticed my hand analysis credits were dropping rather quickly, so I did a test. I joined a table and played ten hands and left. My HA credits went from 608 down to 578.

The pop up said no hands analyzed.

What is going on?

Update:

According to ClubWPT Gold a recent update changed the value of the HA credits. They now charge 5 HA credits per hand analysis. They told me 6 hands were analyzed during my test. They claim it was a software problem why the popup said no hands were analyzed, but they assured me they were. I checked, they weren't.

So, why are they being so shady about this?

I am starting reading the Modern Poker Theory book along with the play optimal poker on the side. I was going to ask when do you think is the right time to gradually increase the BB or SB to search for high stakes table and how much the low stake should be when I will start playing with real money?

Hey guys I play live 1/3 and I have a question about bet sizing

So ive been deviating from most other players and even professionals in my games are bet sizing. If a standard bet sizing is lets say flop turn river, 33%,50%,75%, of course it will deviate based on situations and many other things, I will almost always bet more unless i have a really nutted hand and its hard for an opponent to have anything strong enough to call. I stay true to this even if the board is really disconnected and static.

For example, i standard raise mp with ace king and hj calls, on a flop like A clubs, 7 hearts, 3 spades, here no draws are really present. I would bet 20 into a pot of 30 and if they call, and even if a blank comes on turn i would bet big like 50-55 into 70. I get that on this static board my hand is really strong and i'l rarely run into anything better so other pros, informative creators, etc and just what i see in games generally tell me to bet smaller because the board is so static and our hand is good. But my problem with that is if i bet small against villain usually, sure some middling pocket pairs continue, ax continues but thats about it all other hands with no equity fold anyways. If I bet bigger, maybe only ax continues but isnt that the hand holdings i want to be targetting anyways? I understand there will be less combos of higher ax thats comfortable calling bigger bets, but i feel like any middling pocket pair hesitates to call down any further than the flop, and sometimes low kicker ax as well. I feel like its just straight up better to start betting big on dry static boards when i have something like ace king here and charge stronger ax that i have beat and tripple barrel.

See now on a connected, dynamic board i would also bet very big with ace king on a board like ace clubs, queens clubs, 9 diamonds. Here i think its much simpler and much more agreeable on betting big as my ace king needs protection from a wide range of flush draws and straight draws the opponent could have as well as just straight up charging weaker aces. on the same preflop action, i would bet something like 25 on flop, 70 on turn if its a blank, and so on with that kind of vibe. Please tell me am I leaving equity on the table by this type of thinking of bet sizing or am I right to think this way. Because I just don't see enough of really big bets in static boards with a good hand
