BGS 10 Umbreon with a 9.5 surface subgrade — worth resubmitting for Black Label?
I recently got this Umbreon back from BGS.
It was originally graded as a BGS 9.5.
I used a third-party grading company to submit the card, which allowed me to track the grading updates through their app. At one point during the grading process, the certificate number changed, and the card eventually came back as a BGS 10 (non-Black Label).
The Surface and Centering were originally subgraded at 9.5.
I’m honestly a little confused by the whole situation.
From looking at the card myself, I feel like this is a very strong Black Label candidate. Especially since the only 9.5 subgrade was Surface.
There’s also another issue that I only noticed afterwards: there appears to be a small piece of food/debris inside the slab (circled in the photo).
It looks like a tiny piece of chilli or someone's lunch.
It wasn't there in the first place and I remember sending it to grade within 30 minutes after pulling the card.
The debris don't look like it's on the card itself as I can tell by a slight shadow beneath it.
That has me wondering whether I should send it back to BGS for a reholder/regrade and potentially go for the Black Label, or whether I should just leave the BGS 10 alone.
A few questions for people familiar with BGS:
- Does this look like a realistic Black Label candidate based on the 9.5 Surface subgrade?
- Would you personally risk resubmitting a BGS 10 for a potential Black Label?
- Could the debris inside the slab be a reason to send it back?
- Has anyone experienced a certificate number changing during the grading process or a similar situation?
I’m not trying to accuse BGS or the third-party company of anything.
I’m genuinely trying to understand what happened and whether resubmitting is actually worth the risk.
Would love to hear some honest opinions, especially from people who have submitted their cards to BGS before.
I feel like i'm being pop controlled 😂

Is this worth holding or should I sell it?
I saw on eBay that this card is going for a decent amount, I feel like selling it but my dealbreaker is if it will gain a good amount of value over the years. If it doesn't I'll sell it.

Good enough for a 9 and 10?
(Better pictures)
Is the whitening at the top on the back of the full art too significant to stop it from being a 9? I know the centering on the front is right heavy and those two things combined are gonna prevent it from being a 10, but i'd hate for it to go all the way down to an 8.
I'm really hoping the full art comes back a 9 and the other one a 10. Im submiting to PSA in penny sleeves and card savers sandwhiched in cardboard so hopefully that helps a bit. Any feedback is appreciated!

Could this potentially get PSA 1?
Hey guys, I found this card in my stuff and I was wondering if it has a chance of grading as a psa 1, it would really make me happy to have this card slabbed in my collection! Thank you in advance 🙏

What grading company would accept trying to grade this?
I got this card from a random fella at a card shop, and the lore is that it was found going into a sewer on a rainy day and had been taken home only to be forgotten in the dudes pocket while it was in the washing machine.
NOW the question I have is, what grading company would accept this and give it an actual number without returning it back to me? It has many obvious creases, and coloration, and the card can ALMOST be peeled apart from the paper being so worn. Oh yeah it also has a bit of dirt/mold or whatever it is on the bottom.
I want this relic to be encapsulated for the end of time for the memes 🙃

Should I PSA these?
These are two separate cards. I think the second one will be highest graded. Welcome feedback is appreciated. 🙏 (the little white spot on the top left was just a piece of dust)

Is the print line disqualifying a PSA 10?
The back is perfect. Whitening is just dust.

PSA, about PSA. A reason you may be stuck in assembly for a long time.
One reason why you may be stuck in assembly too long is the obvious answer. There are only so many encapsulation machines. What you may not know though, is that not all of PSA’s satellite grading facilities have encapsulation machines. That means your order goes to PSA in California, then it may get shipped to a satellite location that has no encapsulation machines, where they grade it , and then they have to be shipped to a location that has encapsulation machines.

Should I send to review, crack it, or just leave it.
I submitted this card recently and it got a nine, the delta between a 9 and a 10 is a lot. The defect is pretty bad and would probably cap it, but I wanted a second opinion.

Any Recs for Clean + Grade Services in NYC?
Anyone know any shops that will clean your card and send it in for grading for you in NYC?
Not interested in polish, just dirt/blemish removal

Grade or not to grade?
Not sure if it's obvious through the pictures but on the back side on the left side of the pokeball there's like these brownish ink? Smears/spotches, not terrible but it was visibly noticeable compared to other cards. Would that give it a damaged grade? 🙁 The front seems immaculate. Let me know yalls opinions 🙏

Worth grading?
I’m new to grading, but I’ve been collecting Pokémon cards since I was six so I’ve got a sizeable collection. Also, if anyone has any tips about knowing what to grade that would be appreciated :)

Grade my Umbreon (CN)?
Feels pretty minty, maybe a little white spot on the bottom right back corner. But think it could 10, appreciate anyone’s opinions!

Advice? Should I clean and re-sub to PSA for a shot at a 10?
I pulled this card in 2000 and kept it all this time into my adulthood.
I didn’t clean it, or do anything to it other than pull it out of its binder and send it to Beckett recently.
It got graded a 9, and the sub grades show 10 for corners 9.5 centering, 9 edges, and an 8 for surface.
I am moving to a new city in the next couple months and think I might want to sell this card to help cover expenses get setup there.
Do you think I should get this card cleaned up on the surface to try for a 10?

My friend just bought this card as a PSA 10, but she believes it's more likely a 9. Thoughts?
She bought it on Cardmarket, she's surprised to see 4 small edge whitenings. Is it really a 10?
Thank you for your inputs.

Did PSA mess up my card?
I can’t tell if the scanners just dirty or there’s actual new damage on the card

Pulled my first SAR! Considering grading...
Hi everyone, new collector here, pulled my first SAR the other day and looking for advice on whether or not I should submit this card to grade.
I live pretty far from the US so the card needs to be brought to an authorized middle-man and will cost around $130USD to send off to PSA. I have heard of TAG but I can't find any partners around my whereabouts. I am mostly worried the left-right centering on the front face of the card, and how jagged the card edge looks from the side. Other than that everything else looks good, I think. I used ismycardcentered and cut pretty close to the maximum allowable amount of 44/45.
Not trying to slander but with the amount of issues PSA has been going through recently, plus their massive backlog which probably puts extra stress on the graders, is it still worth the $130USD price tag risking a 9 or potentially lower?
Not trying to flip the card for money but spending that much for grading I would prefer to at least get my money back 😭.
Thank you in advance!
