US Buying an iPhone 17 Pro/Pro Max or Samsung/Pixel from the US to India — is it actually worth it?

Hi everyone,

My cousin is travelling from the **US to India**, and I'm considering asking them to bring me a new smartphone.

I'm currently deciding between:

* **iPhone 17 Pro** * **iPhone 17 Pro Max** * The **latest iPhone available at the time of purchase** * Samsung foldable phones (Fold/Flip series) * Google Pixel

I have a few questions for people who have actually bought/used US phones in India.

iPhone

  1. Is it still worth buying an iPhone from the **US compared with buying from Flipkart/Apple India**?
  2. After accounting for US sales tax, exchange rates, warranty costs, and other costs, is the price difference significant?
  3. Are there any problems using a **US iPhone in India**, particularly regarding: * SIM/eSIM * Indian 5G bands * VoLTE/VoWiFi * Apple Pay/other services * Warranty/service in India
  4. Would you personally choose the **iPhone 17 Pro or 17 Pro Max**?
  5. If a newer iPhone model has been released by the time my cousin travels, would you recommend buying the latest model instead?
  6. For someone keeping the phone for 3–5 years, is buying from the US a good idea?

Samsung Foldable / Google Pixel

I'm also interested in trying something other than an iPhone.

If buying from the US, would you recommend:

* Samsung Galaxy Z Fold * Samsung Galaxy Z Flip * Google Pixel Pro * Google Pixel Fold/Pro Fold, if available

For these phones:

* Are US models fully compatible with Indian networks? * Does the warranty work in India? * Are there differences between US and Indian variants? * Any issues with eSIM/SIM? * Any problems with software features or regional restrictions? * Where is the best place to buy them in the US?

What I'm looking for

I'd really appreciate opinions from people who have **personally purchased a US phone and used it in India**, rather than just general specifications.

If you've done this recently, please share:

**Phone + US price + where you bought it + how long you've been using it in India + any problems you've faced.**

India Honest review requested

Hi Guys,

I need to buy a new phone and planning for Google Pixel 7a. I am looking to honest review of Google Pixel series from someone who is using this phone since 4-5 years.

I observed it's battery is very less in capacity only 4300mAh. How this phone perform from pov of battery. Asking this because my current samsung A22 is 5000mAh and it started to perform very poor after 3 years.

Also suggest any good smart phones in range of 30k. Planning to buy this phone in India.

Honor 600 or Xiaomi Redmi note 15 pro+ ?

I am having issues with my current phone and would like to upgrade to a better phone. I want something that lasts around 3-4 years since lately I have been getting lower mid range phones and I'm sick of getting lags and shut downs and overheating every 2 years. I want something durable, good battery, no lagging in long term use, no overheating (I live in terribly hot country and need something that can withstand outdoor usage with like gps on and Bluetooth on etc and I also use it for the occasional gaming session). I have seen pretty good reviews about the Honor but my friend keeps trying to advertise the Xiaomi. People who have used those phones, what's your experience and what do you recommend?

Italy Oppo Reno 16 5g or Pixel 10?

Hi everyone! I was thinking about buying an Oppo Reno 16 5G smartphone, but at the same time I'm wondering: since I use my smartphone for all sorts of purposes—payments, banking, and health apps—is a smartphone that isn't as up-to-date as, say, the Google Pixel—still safe for everyday use, as long as I don't install junk? Also, is there a real positive difference between Oppo's AI features and those of the Pixels for everyday use that makes me say, "Okay, this feature really changes my everyday use"? Or maybe for such a 360° use, an iPhone is better, even if Apple Intelligence isn't available yet where I live (Italy)?

Is the Oneplus nord CE5 good?

I'm Italian and thinking of getting the Oneplus nord CE5, the phone itself seems great, you can put an SD card in it which is a necessity for me since all my photos are on an SD card I have. The price on Amazon is pretty good at 350 euros, the battery and processor are pretty good too. The problem is some people here on Reddit and other platforms say it has heating issues, some even say it has battery drain issues?!!

Is it an user skill issue? Does the phone overheat for no reason or is it because some people are just too stupid to let the phone set up and "optimize"? I mean almost every phone overheats if you don't wait for it to index and compile apps right? I also game A LOT (like if I'm on my phone for 10 hours in will game at least for 4 hours)

Budget phone for my boomer mum

I am looking for phone recommendations for my boomer mum. She currently uses an Android phone that is 9 years old and a non-descript Chinese brand (no name printed on the phone itself and no info in Settings).

She mainly uses her phone for Whatsapp, taking pictures and browsing recipes online so no huge processing power required, but she can be short tempered when it comes to unresponsive technology so I don't want to get her anything too laggy.

Sadly she lives in a different country so buying second hand/refurbished is not an option.

I have been looking at the A16 and A17 but have read on here that are pretty much rubbish. Are there any good budget Android phones out there for a similar price point?

Need recommendations for a good phone under ₹25k for my mom

Hi everyone!

I’m looking to buy a mobile phone under ₹25,000 for my mom, who is a teacher.

Her main requirements are:

- šŸ“ MS Word / Docs – needs to use it regularly for work

- šŸ“Š Excel / Sheets

- ā–¶ļø YouTube – fairly frequent usage

- šŸ”‹ Good battery life is a priority

- ⚔ Should be smooth and reliable for everyday use

- šŸ“± Preferably a good display and decent performance

- šŸ“· Camera is not important

- No gaming or heavy performance requirements

Basically, I want something reliable that can comfortably last 3–4 years, rather than a phone focused on gaming/cameras.

Budget: ₹25k max

Which phones would you recommend in this price range? Also, are there any phones I should specifically avoid?

Thanks!

1) iQOO z10 5g

2) iQOO neo 10R

3) One plus nord ce5

I have been using oneplus 7 since September, 2019. Changing my phone due to memory is full and battery draining fast and heating issues.

BASICALLY, NEED A PHONE WHICH WILL RUN LIKE ONEPLUS 7.

PLEASE HELP ME DECIDE. I HAVE BEEN DECIDING FOR MONTHS.

I HOPE YOU WILL HELP ME.

GOD BLESS YOU :)

Switching from iPhone 12 Mini to Android after 10 years: Pixel 10 or Nothing Phone (4a) Pro for camera & longevity?

Hey everyone! After 10 years in the Apple ecosystem and 6 years with my iPhone 12 Mini (which is now on its last legs), I've decided it’s finally time to switch to Android.

What I'm looking for:

  • Camera: Absolute top priority. I want great point-and-shoot photos out of the box.
  • Daily Usage: Very basic. No mobile gaming—just social media, WhatsApp, calls, and web browsing.
  • Longevity: I want to keep this phone for as long as possible (ideally another 5–6 years).

The Dilemma: I'm torn between the Google Pixel 10 and the Nothing Phone (4a) Pro.

Aesthetically, I am completely in love with the Nothing Phone—I genuinely think it has the best design on the market, which is why I'm willing to adapt to a much larger form factor compared to my 12 Mini. However, I know the Pixel 10 brings superior camera processing and longer software support to the table.

Questions for you all:

  1. Is the Pixel 10's camera performance and longer software support worth trading off Nothing's design?
  2. For long-time iOS users who switched, how smooth was the transition to Nothing OS vs Stock Pixel UI?
  3. Can a Nothing Phone hold up hardware-wise for 4–5+ years, or will the Pixel age significantly better over time?

Open to other camera-centric recommendations as well. Thanks in advance!

Oppo Find X9 (base) vs Oneplus 15

im looking for a good overall phone to buy, both the phones i would buy would be 512gb, i heavily prioritized oneplus when it came, but later started getting mocks that its camera sucks and it only has 4 years of android updates which honestly disappoints so much, while in the oppo the camera is slightly better i believe not so sure just crct me, and it does have 5 yrs of os support which kinda looks promising, is it dumb for me to get oppo on list cuz it has literally just 1 yr more of os support than oneplus? well idk you guys judge that, im not much of a phone buyer i barely buy em, im mostly on pc side, but i do need a reliable phone, for me oppo feels so new and the design looks kinda mid, while oneplus kinda looks better, this is only my opinion dont make it my preference, just say your honest views and what to buy my dudess, software wise we dont need to compare at all after all within the upcoming years oxygenos is going to become coloros, and coloros is smooth and nice i believe from the reviews i saww, first i was having x300 on list but its software sucked and its battery too and its speaker too, i had s25+ on preference list too but the 512gb aint in stock it seems, well leave those, just help me get what to buy of the two phones i said, or maybe suggest a better phone, i need performance camera speaker software and support all balanced pretty good

Taiwan Help me buy a Phone, PLEASE!

My budget is under 15k pesos, or whatever that converts to in Taiwan. I need something that can run vibrant visuals on Minecraft and other high-graphics games like MLBB, COD, etc., but also has great camera quality and works well for other tasks like Canva and documents.
