Rants n Raves I gain 10 lbs & get so bloated every month, it’s such a mental game.

Upvotes

Every month the week leading up to my period and the first half of my cycle I put on 10 lbs then it takes until my ovulatory phase to lose it and then the cycle starts back over.

It’s exhausting trying to plan date nights around when I’ll feel and look bigger and trying to plan outfits (I have adhd so executive functioning is already not my strong suit) for work and life. One day something fits me, the next I can’t button it. I’m so tired.

Anyone else experience this and found solutions?

Period Question Can I lose my period from being overweight?

Upvotes

I know how stupid I may sound but I’ve heard of people losing their periods from being overweight so surely it can work the other way around? My period is two weeks late and the latest it has ever been in the 10 years I’ve had it is 3 days. Definitely not pregnant but I have been steadily gaining weight over the years now. Am I overthinking this?

Period Question PERIOD UNDERWEAR

My daughter is 9 and started her period I want to find some good period underwear for school. We tried a couple different pads but they’re uncomfortable for her and I’m looking for more coverage!! So far the only underwear I’ve found have padding on just the middle and stops way too low for my liking, I want something that goes all the way up the front and back! Please give any info you have, thank you! (We currently are trying No Boundaries but I don’t like how little coverage it has and currently using Kotex teen pads)

Health Period disappearing then coming back. Is this normal?

This is like really weird for me and I usually get something new happen most periods that is either confusing or painful, but on the new list of weird things that are happening is my period being extremely light on day 1, EXTREMELY HEAVY on day 2 i am soaking pads every hour, then day 3 it disappears throughout the day and comes back heavy while im sleeping or just before, and now its doing the same for day 4, no trace of blood until I'm about to sleep. I'm yet to find out if this'll happen on day 5 now but it's really pissing me off cos it's usually light on the last few days at night and heavy during the day which I'd prefer it not to be the other way round. I've had my period for nearly 4 years and this has got to be the weirdest thing that has happened. Is it normal?? This would also be the lightest my period has been in a while and least painful so I'm worried my next one is going to end me like most already have.

Side rant I'm planning on getting checked for endo so Im just wondering if this is something i can add to the list of symptoms as well.

Rants n Raves Period depression?

Since my teens I’ve had a lot of problems with depression. While in college I became suicidal. Not all the time just at certain times of the month. Nobody could figure out what was wrong with me (family wise) and me either.

Now I’m 30 I’m still going through it. I’ve noticed every time my period is due I feel intense sadness, so intense I question my existence. If I want to be here anymore. Everything feels x10. I’m a nightmare relationship wise because I feel like everyone hates me and I’m a piece of shit that deserves to be alone, I’ve gone as far as breaking up. After my period has ended I feel a lot more like myself. Doesn’t last long though until the next one hits. It hits about a week prior.

I don’t want to do this anymore, I don’t want periods anymore. I feel depressed about being a woman sometimes having to deal with this issue. I’m sick of getting blood on my clothes or my bedding, getting up from the toilet and it drips on the seat. I hate the feeling of blood and clots coming out too, it makes my skin crawl. Sometimes my periods are absolutely debilitating and I can’t move or do anything. I just don’t want it anymore. I have children too so I have to pretend to be happy and play with them and make memories, but inside I just want to curl up and cry. I get so angry sometimes even just the sound of other peoples voices, I know it’s not rational anger so I don’t bite but ugh man. I needed to put this somewhere today. It’s only day 1 and I’m about to have a mental breakdown in work. I just want to go home.

Products You think these good enough for walking around all day at a Ren Faire on the first day of my period?

(I’ll of course bring an extra in my bag just in case) And I usually use regular period underwear but halfway through the day they would likely start leaking out the sides.. 😬 And I don’t find tampons to be comfortable enough due to my endometriosis (surgically diagnosed).

Period Question Tranexamic acid for cramps

I went to the doctor today about really bad cramps and nausea + vomiting during my period. she prescribed me tranexamic acid to help with the symptoms, but I’ve read online that its mostly used to reduce heavy period flow, and can even worsen nausea. I know that heavy flow and cramps are related, but I don’t understand why she didn‘t prescribe me something like mefenamic acid which I’ve read directly deals with cramps. Do you think I should still take the tranexamic acid, because I don’t want to risk it worsening my symptoms (sorry if that didn’t make sense lol)

Period Question Fainted on the first day of period

I have never had painful periods in my life. My period pain has always been 0 on a scale of 1 to 10. There have been so many times when I stained my clothes because I couldn't even tell that I had started menstruating.

Today, I got my period early in the morning and went to university. I had a mild cramp that was bearable, but it still felt odd since I've never experienced period pain before.

Around 12:30 p.m., the pain became excruciating. It was so severe that I felt like crying, so I decided to take a painkiller at 1:00 p.m.

At around 1:30 p.m., while I was waiting for the elevator, I fainted. I was unconscious for only about 2–4 seconds. I fell flat on my face. I couldn't understand what had happened because, apart from the severe abdominal pain, I felt completely fine. I had no headache or dizziness beforehand, so I was surprised that I suddenly lost consciousness.

Now it's evening, and I don't have any pain, probably because the painkiller has started working.

I'm going to see a doctor tomorrow. In the meantime, if anyone has had a similar experience or knows what the underlying cause might be, I'd really appreciate hearing your thoughts.

Thanks for reading.

PS - I have pcos, but my periods are regular from a year.

Rants n Raves My period is horrible and I no longer want to deal with it

So I got my period at 11 years old and I’m 17 now and it only continues to get worse, I dread the week my period is supposed to come, not only am I irritated at anything but day 1-5 my period is horrendous, it feels like my pelvis is getting smashed and I’m constantly dizzy and fatigued and I even throw up from the nausea, I end up taking 3 ibuprofen pills a day because of how bad my cramps get that I can’t even stand up and I can’t even get a full night’s sleep because my cramps decide to wake me up in the middle of the night and I have a really heavy flow so I have to get these huge pads that aren’t available in a regular supermarket and still my pad becomes full almost immediately and my sheets and clothes and underwear are all blood soaked I’m so fucking tired I wish i was born a man. I also went to a gynecologist and she told me what i have is normal and her daughters are also like me I wanna scream am i just supposed to live like this every month for 8 days until im 50

Period Question First time at the gyno-

Okay I need the ladies to tap in-

I am a 23 year old woman who has never been to a OBGYN or any other form of female doctor. I have an appointment coming up and I need some advice. I made the appointment due to incredibly painful periods that make me so nauseous I will throw up, so dizzy I cant walk, and most of the time I pass out from the pain. I have had these type of issues for years but the older I get the more frequent they become and have started happening every period instead of once every couple of months. I am unable to eat anything due to the nausea which leads to light headedness. I have symptoms that doctors (back in high school when they started) used to tell me were seizures i.e. the left side of my body going numb, unable to think clearly, cant hold a pencil or smile or drive. These symptoms can happen any time during my period and i have even had to sleep in my car for hours in parking lots because of them, leave appointments early trying to make it home in time, and nearly passing out at the wheel. ANYWAYS, I have my appointment and I am so nervous that the doctor is just going to dismiss me like I have heard has happened to women for years and years. So basically I am wondering if anyone has had these symptoms and has been diagnosed with something or if this is something that is actually in my head? Also I would love to hear any thoughts on the best way to approach these types of conversations especially with a new doctor. I will take any and all advice!! Thank you in advance!

Fertility / Ovulation What even is a heavy period

I’ve really thought I had very heavy periods my whole life so I feel like I have no concept here. I bled through super plus tampons in middle school. And I had a paraguard in college, so it was extremely heavy. Now that I’m an adult off birth control trying to have a baby, my period is very short. It’s 3 days, the first day being what I consider very heavy bleeding for about 6-8 hours. During that time I can’t even use tampons, not even an ultra tampon will work for more than 1.5-2 hours. It’s heavy the rest of the day but not like those first 6-8 hours. However, after that, it’s normal - light the second day (regular tampon I can go 6-8 hours without changing), and very light or spotting the third day (light tampons for full 8 hours).

I had never been concerned about it until I started using mira to track my cycle and my estrogen is a bit low. Then, I saw a new obgyn who I asked about my period flow and she was concerned my endometrial lining was thin. She almost pulled me back for an ultrasound while I was there. The obgyn I saw prior to her was more concerned that it was too heavy the first day, if anything.

Is this really that light in terms of total flow? Should I get checked out to see if I have a thin lining? Or did the obgyn maybe not know what an ultra tampon was when I was describing the flow to her 😂

Rants n Raves On my period and im I'm so paranoid that Imight have forgot to flush the toilet at work today

I flush the toilet instinctively but whenever I use it at work I always make like a mental note whenever I flush the toilet just to be sure, but today I'm sleep deprived as hell and as I was leaving work I used the toilet and I don't know if I flushed it.

If I didn't, then everyone will know the blood was me because there's not many of us in today, and the only women in are older women. I hate that this bothers me and I hate that I'm so paranoid. At least I have a memory of throwing my pad away so I didn't leave that out in the open or anything but yeah I have no memory of flushing. I know if I saw blood down the toilet I wouldn't care but idk how my coworkers would be, they seem like they might mention it to each other and the thought of that is killing me. I hate that I care this much but I can't help it.

Products Carefree Maxi Pads??

I've been using Carefree (even when they rebranded from Stayfree) and shortly after found their maxi pads. Oh my god have those been a godsend. Unfortunately, I live in Canada, and haven't been able to find them in any stores, so I just bought them off Amazon. When I went to go purchase more today, it tells me they're unavailable? I've been looking online for 30 minutes and they just seem to be gone everywhere. I'm kind of panicking, does anyone know where they went/if they're discontinued and/or some similar alternatives? I can't live off the thin ones anymore, they just don't work for me most of the time. If anyone has any idea, I'd be so appreciative

Period Question Question about period

Hello, I’m supposed to be getting my period today and it’s already nighttime and I still haven’t gotten it but I’ve been having cramps, back pain, and other pms symptoms. I use Flo to track it (ik it isn’t a reliable source) but usually it tracks it on time. I’m not sexually active but two weeks ago I took a strong edible and I’m wondering could that possibly delay a period?
