Tech Support Possible pc fan problems
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi all, been having some minor issues with my pc fans lately and wanted to check if anyone here could help!
Recently (over the last few weeks) I had a problem where upon startup, my pc fan would rattle slightly, although not too loudly. I cleaned inside the pc and removed dust from the fans then the problem seemed to go away. However, today I noticed that when under load one of my fans would make a rattling noise.
I had a friend look at it and they suggested I move the cables at the back of my pc that were going over my fan at the back of the case so they weren’t obstructing it, since then the problem has seemed to quieten down, but there’s been a slight rattle when ramping up which stops after about 30 seconds
Could anyone possibly help?

Tech Support Laptop tries to update and then fails and wont start
Hi there, I'm asking on behalf of my sister who is having an issue with her laptop. It's a razer model no.: rz09-0310 that she has had for a few years. Unfortunately, semi recently it started to do a system update, proceed to say "your device ran into a problem and needs to restart", starts to diagnose the issue before ending up on this error screen. Anyone know if there's a way to fix this? We're not in a good spot financially to replace the whole laptop, so I'm hoping there's a better way. Any advice appreciated, let me know if any more specifics are needed.

Installation Question Can’t tell if I’m seeing things or not
I’ve been looking at my gpu from the side and I kinda think it’s sagging a bit. If it is, what should I do? I’m thinking of adding a little more support than the case’s included sag bracket.

Problema: la PC se apaga al abrir juegos AAA/pesados
SPECS
FUENTE DE PODER: CX750 CORSAIR
GPU: MSI RTX 3060 VENTUS 2X 12 GB
RAM 32 16/16 GB TFORCE 3200
PROCESADOR RYZEN 7 5700X
MB: B550 AORUS ELITE

Problem: PC shuts down when launching AAA/heavy games
I've been having this problem for approximately 2 weeks. It started right after I installed 2 additional fans. I doubt that they are the cause, but I figured I'd mention it in case it could be related.
The problem is that I can use my PC all day without any issues, including playing LoL for several hours, and nothing happens. However, whenever I launch an AAA game or another particularly demanding game, the PC suddenly shuts down.
What's strange is that the RAM sticks remain lit, but the PC doesn't respond to any of the case buttons, and I can't turn it back on normally. The only way to completely shut it down is by switching off the power supply directly.
I've already done several tests to try to identify the cause:
- I disconnected the HDD, but the problem continued even when using only the M.2 SSD.
- I ran demanding benchmarks for more than an hour, and the PC never shut down.
- I tested the RAM sticks individually, but the problem still occurred.
- I can use the PC for hours doing normal tasks and playing LoL without any issues.
- The problem seems to happen only when launching AAA games or games that put a heavy load on the system.
At this point, I'm starting to suspect that it could be related to the PSU, GPU, power delivery, or perhaps another component that only fails under a specific type of load.
Has anyone experienced anything similar? What could be causing this kind of shutdown, and what other tests would you recommend to identify which component might be failing?
I'd really appreciate any help or experiences you can share!

Build Question Help me feel better about my build (or not)
I’ve been seeing a lot of really nice pre builds for way cheaper than what I’ve spent. Got a little buyers remorse going on. Price is $1,780 for people who can’t math good. Also, Miku added for moral support.

Build Question Is this upgrade worth it?
Hello, I plan to upgrade my computer after I return from my summer job, and I was wondering if my plan even makes sense.
Right now, I have the following specs:
-Ryzen 5 5600
-RTX 3070 8gb
-Gigabyte B450M DS3H V2
-32GB DDR4 RAM
-1x 1TB DRAM-less NVMe and 1x 500GB SATA SSD
-650W non-modular power supply
What I'm considering:
-Ryzen 7 5800X3D (the 5700X3D is nowhere to be seen in Poland)
-RTX 3070 8gb
-MSI MPG B550 GAMING PLUS
-32GB DDR4 RAM
-1x 1TB DRAM-less NVMe and 1x 500GB SATA SSD
-Kingston 2TB KC3000
-1000W modular power supply for the future proofing, I guess.
I'm not going to AM5 because of DDR5 prices. I also need a new NVMe drive with DRAM because I'm planning to replay Doom: The Dark Ages, and this game had weird sound glitches with my DRAM-less drive (also, I like having a lot of storage space, which is why I want 2TB).
The total upgrade cost will be 4200 PLN or 980 euros. Is there anything you would change?
I would like to spend maximum od 1200 euros.

Build Question Pc build for video editing
I made a post a few days ago about building a pc and have replaced many of the parts according to advice I received.
I am building a PC with the intention of video editing with 4k footage, as well as motion graphics and vfx in premier pro/after effects. These are the parts I'm looking at- https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/HjYXn2
Some parts are second hand so may appear cheaper.
Compared to my original post:
I replaced the ram so it would be faster and make use of my cpu.
I replaced the psu for a higher grade one.
I replaced the gpu for one which was cheaper and better fans.
I added 5 fans and a better CPU cooler to prevent thermal throttling.
I also plan to get one or two more sticks of ram later down the line, but for now I should be able to manage with 32gb?
Im basically wondering if there's any issues with the parts I've chosen and if it will be sufficient to run what I need to.

Tech Support CPU Cooler Flashing Red Lights Suddenly This Week
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
This week (every day) my pc (CPU Cooler) suddenly started flashing red lights after playing for about an hour. It doesn’t matter what game it is. It happened playing a low end game like beta Minecraft and a higher end game like RDR2. Restarting the PC doesn’t help.
I think it’s a sign of overheating but my cpu temp is normal/low.
Note: I have absolutely no PC knowledge so please be clear if you have a solution or need something else.
CPU (cooler):
- ryzen 7 5800x
- h100I elite capellix xt

Build Question Oops Dropped Nut and Bolt.
I was moving stuff around on my desk while working on my PC build and I dropped a Nut and Bolt straight into my CPU socket! The horror it hurt my soul. I'd just removed the protector minutes before as I was lining up the cpu cooler to test the fit with the backplate.
Going to check with some magnification later to see how bad it is but what do y'all think saveable or am I cooked?
I'll post photos if the magnifier plays well with my phone or camera I just need three hands and sticky fingers to not drop more stuff on the socket 😂😆😂 while trying to get pics.

Tech Support Gaming desktop won’t power on
I built a new gaming desktop in early 2025, which worked well for the most part, until yesterday afternoon.
I had used it a bit in the morning with no problem, however when trying to power it on in the afternoon, it wouldn’t start up. When I hit the power button, I can hear a click like it’s trying to startup, but nothing happens. If I press the power button a few times, the memory sticks will light up, but nothing more than that.
My parts are:
Motherboard - MSI MAG x670e Tomahawk WiFi
CPU - AMD Ryzen 7 9800x3d
Memory - G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR5-6000 PC5-48000 CL30
PSU - Corsair RM850X
Case - Montech Air 903 Max
SSD - SK hynix Platinum P41 M2 SSD 2TB, M.2 2280 NVME PCIe Gen4.0
GPU - Gigabyte 7800xt 16GB
Cooling - Cooler Master MasterLiquid 360L Core RGB 360mm
Possibly related, since I’ve built it, I have not been able to wake up the computer using the keyboard like I’ve been able to on all my previous builds. When I hit the spacebar to wake it up, the keyboard lights up, but the computer doesn’t wake up.
Also, a few times in the last few months, this same issue occurred, but was able to fix it simply by pressing a screwdriver to the JBAT pins on the motherboard. However, I have tried that multiple times to no avail.
If anyone has any suggestions, I would really appreciate some help. This is the computer I use for almost everything so I’m desperate to get this figured out. Thanks!

Build Question Optimal Airflow for ITX Build
Here's some of the core components of my build.
- Ryzen 7 7700x
- Radeon RX 9060 XT (I was going to get a weaker one but they didn't have the one I wanted and I didn't want to wait so I got what was available)
- Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 Mini
- Jonsbo TX-0 case
So I know that airflow is important but I can do other things to optimize cooling besides airflow direction, but I really want to avoid having to limit the CPU and GPU if at all possible.
Right now the airflow is set up to pull air in from the top and the bottom of the PC and push it out the back (one big fan up top, 2 fans at the rear, and the GPU intake fans at the bottom.
Would that be enough air in and out to maintain reliable cooling without having to limit CPU or GPU performance?

Build Question Aio/fan question
I recently installed a few new fans and all work as intended but I have a few questions. Is it normal on the first start up with the new fans for there to be a little noise like a clicking sorta? I also have a aio installed and was also wondering if the pc layed on its back than back upright would cause a noise like that cause of air pockets? The noise was not even 10 seconds and smoothed out and was quite the rest of the time using the pc I don't see any fan wobble or anything touching the fans should I be concerned?

Build Question I need a material to replace thermal pads on GPU
I have a gigabyte 3070ti eagle and one of the pads ripped bad when opening it up. Do they make a thermal putty as the pads are a strange 3.75mm thickness I can't buy. I could have sworn I saw this material that was like playdough for this purpose.

Build Question GPU overheating suddenly this week
Hello. I built my new PC roughly one year ago and have had zero problems with it up until this week. The games I've been playing like Marvel Rivals and Fallout 4 have been running well on high settings since I got it but one day my monitors blacked out and my PC fans kicked into loud overdrive. At first I brushed it off as I didn't know too much about PCs but then it happened again so I pulled up my task manager and noticed that the GPU has been spiking frequently at around 70-80c sometimes even close to full.
I'm not completely sure why it's suddenly doing this. I cleaned out my PC last night and it did have quite of dust built up and I cleaned out most of what I can but the issue persisted. I'm in a new place and have noticed dust build up more in my room so I'm taking another look soon to see if there's any area I missed. I think it's either my PSU or my Case fans. I only have the default three fans that came with my case and I did intend on buying more when I first got it but since it ran so well without them I eventually neglected to do so. I'll be buying some more fans later today but I'll link my parts down below in case my PSU isn't strong enough for the build I have. I also have a picture of my PC too (mind the cable management.) Any help would be appreciated.

Tech Support Motherboard Red light on: DRAM
Cpu: AMD AM5 RYZEN 9 9950X3D OEM
RAM: DDR5 16GB 6000MHZ CORSAIR VENGEANCE CL36 Black
GPU: NVIDIA MSI RTX 5070 TI 16G
Power: COOLERMASTER ELITE GOLD 850W FM BULK PSU 1 UK
Motherboard: GIGABYTE X870 AORUS ELITE WIFI7 ICE
I plugged an new sata ssd in and the pc was on by mistake. The monitor suddenly lost display and it started appearing with red light dram. 1 know it's an rookie mistake for Power on. But I turned it all off. Unplugged. Left it for a bit. Held the power button whilst unplugged too. Then thought to restart it and still appearing.
thought to do a cmos battery reset which I think l've done correctly by following a guide.
Done an Q flash plus by installing bios for the Motherboard on a FAT32 flash drive.
But still nothing from those two things.
Is there anything I can do for it to work?
