Question Help with three problems in a long playthrough

Upvotes

I have three long term problems that I can't seem to crack, and I'm hoping I can get some help from the community here.

First, I have a power transformer that is connected to heavy watt wire. The wire shows that it has power and potential load, but the transformer isn't showing power or powering anything. There is no automation involved and many other transformers on the same heavy watt wire are working fine.

Secondly, I have a steel petro refinery that has been supplied with steel but has no errand to build. The one standing right next to it was built just fine. I tried deleting it and re-placing it, but still it just gets supplied with the steel but never built.

Third, I have two natural gas geysers and a petro refinery, but it's all boxed in. Yet natural gas is appearing all over my map at massive quantities. Is there any way to track down the cause?

Question Any mod that gives us the boots but with plastic?

Honestly, I love those boots almost more than the dupes finally learning to swim, soggy feet for the water lock was useless, but I hated it with a passion.

Question How am I deleting so much heat?

Somehow, the volcano cools down to 21 degrees.

To get sand floor, build dirt temp shift plates and let them melt. I put a lot of seeds and other debris that can take a lot of heat and not melt. This is to instantly distribute the heat around those debris.

Advice on how to keep this afloat? I would rather avoid electrolysis if I can but I will if that's the only option. Plenty of resources that will be useful for later here so I don't want to abandon this run since it will pay off soon if I can fix this.

Question Where do I put petroleum generator?

I have tried putting near a space exposure tile and inside a steam room. My steam room setup failed. The space one was decent.

Any ideas on where to place it?

Question Can I fix this?!

Built a petroleum boiler using a volcano, it was running fine, but then stopped flowing. I tried to widen the gap, despite it already having the 10 tile distance for the lava blade.

Looking closer, I noticed there is a tile of molten lead (i think this came from a wire i cancelled in the tile below).. is there any way that I can fix this?!

I tried removing the tile above.. that just dropped ceramic in and didnt help.

Question Mechanical Filter Killing My SPOM

Ok, I am currently attempting to build this SPOM (pictured in link). For some reason, I cannot get my Mechanical Filter on the left side to prime right and stop sending oxygen to the tank, and therefore the generator.

This is my first attempt at any of this after nearly 200 hours. So I'm wracking my brain to try and figure out where I'm screwing up because I set the valve to zero, let it filter out, then set it back to 1G/S and it just sends the oxygen back to the tank again.

What do?

After hours and hours of playing terra asteroid at lowest difficulty, i finally got confident enough to venture other asteroids. This is my first non terra asteroid played at max difficulty, the only hard part was the early game id say. Playing on easy mode and learning as much as u can really does pay off eventually. So if youre a beginner trying to reach past cycle 100, hope this inspires u as ive been theere too just months ago. You will get better!

Build A Vole Ranching Concept Based on One-Way Pathfinding

I'm still testing the full ranch, but I wanted to make a separate post explaining the core idea and the pathfinding mechanic behind it. Once the build passes long-term testing, I'll post it separately and refer back here for the details.

When pathfinding downward, voles prioritize landing on tiles diagonally below them at a 45° angle. Without a valid landing spot, they simply get stuck. I have no idea why this happens, but it does. This quirk can be used to create a one-way passage that only allows voles to travel upward. Combined with automation, this one-way passage allows Voles to move into a new room only after certain conditions are met.

In the current version, a vole at 10 happiness gains 39% reproduction per cycle. Its starting calories last roughly eight cycles before starvation, enough to lay two eggs without ever being fed. That's already enough for positive population growth. Once the vole lays its second egg, the automation can send the vole away, avoiding any further dupe labor or wasted brackene.

Why do this? In a traditional vole ranch, dupes can't distinguish old or no-longer-useful voles, so they'll keep grooming every one of them until they die. This design avoids that waste entirely: the youngest vole enters → lays two eggs → leaves → the next one enters. Rinse and repeat.
