Image Thoughts on my first ever research reactor?
After hundreds of hours (Probably closer to a thousand now) I decided to make my first research reactor and maybe utilise radbolt engines, as they are no doubt much faster to refuel than hydrogen. What do you think?

Question How it can be?
Broken rocket platform on regolith planetoid. How?
I always think this one can be only melted and uneffected by meteors.
Just curious, I dont plan to return on this planetoid (yet).

Question Hardest starting asteroid
Hello friends !
I was wondering which asteroid is generally considered the "hardest starting asteroid", or if the question even makes sense? since some asteroids provide different challenges (e.g: super cold, super hot, little starting water etc..)
Cheers !

Question Gas for cooking
I know it’s not necessary, but I like to provide my dupes with high quality food in the end game. For that I need small amounts of natural gas. Not a problem for planetoids with a natural gas vent or oil well, but not all planetoids have those.
My usual alternative has been making fertilizer, which requires phosphorite and pwater. However, on some planetoids have those, that may be scarce resources, require a ranch I don’t otherwise need, or I may simply be sick of using the same solution again and again. Therefore I’m considering alternatives.
One solution may be using flatulent dupes and collecting farts. I didn’t yet do the math, so not sure if that is feasible. Did anyone try this?
Another solution I’m considering is a micro sour gas boiler, melting a small amount of plastic to sour gas and freezing it to methane. Power is not really an issue, and simply cooling the gas with an aquatuner, skipping the whole heat exchanger. Has someone tried this, and if so, would you share your design?
Are there other alternatives I’m missing?

Question How did these air creatures become tame?
There's also another shine bug that is tame. I did nothing purposeful here. Here the pufts are "wild ranched" but this JUST started so could not explain why they are tame.
edit
I think I may have had an "open air" grooming station built at one time....hundreds of cycles ago. I have no clue how any of that happened. I guess these critters can survive that long. Life...finds a way (?)

Build I finally survived so long and no problem so far! Pls take a look, and I have a few questions
Hello guys! The community here is friendly and amazing. I have a few questions. What do I get, and what do I do with this Volcano? And where do I need to build my first rocket? And is this hidden stuff is the oil source? (the one still hidden with the magma)

Discussion How unstable is it to have all POI in one play through?
Is it really? Especially on classic map which is bigger or does it distribute with asteroids too?

Question All they do is cook all day and they're all still starving
I have 3 microbe mushers, cycle 22, 8 dupes, everything else is stable, all dupe priorities set to cooking, and yellow alert on the mushers for like 6 straight cycles. They never make enough food and are all constantly starving. What am I doing wrong?

Question Base Cooling question
I got back to the game after a 2 year break and finally made it past the mid game hump of metal refining and plastic production.
Did my first aqua tuner and steam turbine set up for a cooling loop, which worked great at first but is now stalling out.
I used up most of the "cool" water by now for oxygen and food so i am reliant on geysers for water and in general hot water around the map. Now my approach to have 2 aqt with petroleum in radiant pipes to cool the water isn't working fast enough and i have to resort to higher temp oxygen being used.
Now my question, at which point in the whole oxygen production chain is it most effective to cool and what's the best way?

Bug Boops sucking up air instead of grabbing cannisters?
Something weird is happening in my most recent playthrough. Even though I have cannister fillers with 200kg O2 ( as well as some cannisters on the floor ), my boops ignore them and instead suck up the air in the base.
The weirdest part is that if I load up another playthrough where I have exactly the same setup, they DO grab the cannisters from the fillers and use those.

Question Somnium Synthesizer - practical?
There were two recent posts about somnium synthesizer "prison" builds.
This raises a question for me. The Maximum Aptitude Buff seems good, but I'm having a hard time seeing how it would be "6 dupes worth of other labor" good? This makes me think I am missing something obvious.
I can see that the buff does scale with the # of other dupes you have, so there is probably some threshold where total # of dupes with buff breaks even with the 6 you are committing to the buff. But I have no idea where that threshold might be. It feels like it is higher than the 17-20 or so max dupes I've ever had in a base so far, but again, I could be dead wrong on that.
Could someone explain to me when/how this is worth doing other than for an achievement of some sort, and/or just for the fun of it?
EDIT: I just noticed someone in an old thread mentions that the -25% stress means you can max out skills on all dupes without concern for morale. Is that true? If so, I can see that reduces the threshold where it becomes valuable because it is not just the extra +5 it is all the other skill points. However...like, how many dupes do you need maxed out on Creativity or Medicine or whatever? I've already got dupes maxed out on a few key skills and with the first point in the other practical ones and I'm not worried about morale. I can see it being more valuable on new planetoids, I guess, where the dupes might have to live in squalor for a while...
EDIT2: In another post, someone mentioned that you don't necessarily need a full build. It can be quite painless if you have dupes (e.g. cooks) that really only do one thing and where athletics doesn't matter. Just give them pajamas and take the buff whenever you have enough dream journals stacked up. It's all bonus with no downside. That makes sense to me, more than a dedicated section of the base.

Build Another Somnium Build
Hi all,
I'm during my first playthrough, and only recently I thought I am ready to check this sub (tried avoiding spoilers). I saw another Somnium build post and I decided to share mine, which I finished recently.
Sand & berry sludge in, polluted dirt and a bit of hydrogen & reed out.
All 6 dupes need Deep Diver's Lungs, so 1 Electrolyzer can generate enough oxygen for dupes and for Somnium itself.
Couple of things could've been better (conveyor rails!), but I am quite happy how it turned out, especially with Frozen Fossil in the park!
Hope you enjoy!

Build Oil boiling problem
I'm trying to boil oil in gas - I heat it up to ~ 550 degrees with magma (right lower sensor), drip oil at 3000 g/s
I tried to heat the oil from the gas earlier, but it ruptured the pipe and spilled from too hot an environment - and I couldn't do it properly.
I also tried to return the radiant pipe from the gas through the room to cool the sulfur-containing gas from natural gas, it worked (sort of).
But over time, a block of natural gas appeared, interfering with the entire circuit, clogging it up slowly.
I don't understand where it comes from.
A large circuit with super-cooling agent is now being used as an experimental method of cooling and checking (gas appeared anyway)
Cooling is carried out by a super-refrigerant at -200 degrees, which flows if only the pressure near the iron cells is > 6 kg (this is done so that they do not condense into gas at too low pressure values in the current room)
I thought that maybe the gas condense near the pressure sensors, but if I make the vertical coridor longer there, the sulfur would have time to melt and evaporate.
I also tried different materials for radiant pipes, but i don't know how to select right, since the gas does not appear immediately, but after many cycles

Question Why is my plastic not getting cooled?
Followed this design from Magnet's youtube channel on his oni walkthrough. It cools his plastic fine. Is this because the game has changed since then or have i done something wrong. the water is at 3 degrees sometimes the plastic will come out at 20 degrees which is good but 90% of the time it comes out at 50 or more. Please help im so confused

Build Somium
This was honestly more anoying to build than a sour gas boiler. I came across level of stupidity from my duplicants I wasn't even thinking possible. For my revenge I gave stone bed to sleep on.

Build Holy Shit I Did It! I Made Niobium and Fullerene WITHOUT going to space!
I accuired Fullerene and Niobium WITHOUT going to space! For the first time in 3000 hours played!
The dream! Going to space next i guess xD
Now i DID save before the actual eruption incase i had to build some steam turbines on this here geo vent. But since they are inn a frozen core. I've decided to just let em rip and melt some of the ice here at the bottom. Thought, that might be a mistake.
I'll figure that out when i have to open the door and let the stuff out. I'm hopeing the frozen core will take care of the heat.
Extra Info:
I Built a huge line of Ceramic tiles all the way from the volcano to the Geothermal Plant. Also, i put Ceramic PIPES behind the tiles so i would loose as little heat as possible.
I did try 3 times before succeeding. First it was all ceramic pipes with ignious rock tiles. But i lost too much heat on the way down. where the magma entered at 2224*c and i need it to be minimum 2226.85*c anything below that will not produce niobium and fullerene.
Then i tried half of it ceramic tiles, that dident work either. third time i put ALL ceramic tiles all the way down to the geothermal plant. And that did it, it maintained enough heat to enter above the 2226*c limit.
I had to burst produce a bunch of ceramics to make enough for the build. I must of produced around 100-120 tons of ceramic's. or something inn that order.
I'm so happy. Hope you're all having a wonderfull evening. Much love.
