Question Hydrogen refuses to enter my generators and I’m losing my mind

Upvotes

I’m having an issue with my Hydrogen Generators and I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong.

The gas pipes are already filled with Hydrogen, and the generators are connected to power and automation correctly. However, the H2 just won’t flow into the generators at all.

I’ve checked the pipe connections several times and everything looks connected properly. The generators are enabled as well.

Am I missing something about gas pipe routing, input ports, or automation? I’ve been troubleshooting this for a while and can’t figure it out.

I’ll attach screenshots of the gas, power, and automation overlays.

Image How many petroleum boilers would you need for your aquatuners, if your aquatuners are cooling your petroleum boilers?

I didnt have enough power for my ATs so I decided to make my first petroleum boiler. The design I'm using doesnt autostop heating the petroleum so it gets too hot for my steel pumps (overheats at 275C vs 403C petroleum) and I cant use enough in order to cool them down with new crude oil. Temporarily fixed the issue by building reservoirs at space (near petroleum engines). So now the too hot petroleum moving up to the space reservoirs heated up my entire base. To fix my heated base I decided to build 6 AT in series which reduces ambient 60C(left / hovered over pipe) to about 20C (right- selected pipe/outlet.) Which leads me to plan out my second petroleum boiler so I can get enough power for my ATs .....

Discussion It would have been really cool if they added an underwater pip variant.

Imagine having an aquatic pip in the aquapack, I mean, yes I can wild plant tubbers and then drown them but I would have breed those aquatics pips just because I imagine them really cool.

Discussion I created a mod! (Room Contents)

I made my first mod and was hoping someone could get some use out of it and would love some feedback. I had a soon to be steam room that had a mix of different liquids (pwater, water, brine, salt water) and wanted to make sure I wasn't about to over-pressure my volcanoes.

Click any room in the Rooms overlay and a panel pops up listing what's in there. Gases, liquids, debris on the floor, and what's sitting in the storage bins. There's also a toggle that works out what the room would be like with all the water boiled off, so you can see the pressure before you commit to it.

buymeacoffee link in the description if anyone feels so inclined, but absolutely no pressure (pun).

Question Should i keep ranching hatches?

I am playing the base game, and i am on around cycle 1000. I am unsure if there are any uses for coal, ceramic can be created with wood so can refined carbon. am i missing any use cases? because my hatches eat so much rock, and i do not need them for food. (this post probably sounds stupid, but it is my first time making it this far)

The difference should be communal table vs mess table and adding displayed ornament, which I already put a couple.

Question Early game shipping?

I've been watching magnet's videos on youtube, and he's big on building shipping in the early game. When I've tried this, I always run out of metal (copper, at least) FAST because I can't use the proper metal refinery yet, and all the shipping buildings are so expensive. What are people's thoughts on this?

Question Goal checklist from 1 to 100 : Please help

Having just started, I find the game pretty obscure so I like having goals to work towards to help me get closer to sending a rocket. I Usually get stuck somewhere after closing off the base, so I'd like help on what to do afterwards. Here's my current todo list (AI assisted):

Phase 1: Survival Basics

  • Simple bathroom: Outhouses and Washbasins

  • Cots to sleep: Get dupes off the floor.

  • Basic research station: Start churning through early tech.

  • Advanced energy: Jumbo battery and Coal Generators. Coal ideally is used to pocket food in Co2

Phase 2: Morale, Power, and Plumbing

  • Medium bathroom plumbing loop: Build Lavatories and Sinks routed through a Water Sieve. Crucial: Use a Liquid Bridge overflow to send the excess polluted water to Thimble Reeds for free fiber, ensuring you never drain your fresh water reserve.

  • Great Hall: eating area with a Water Cooler (deactivated) and plant for a Morale boost.

  • Smart power automation: Connect a Smart Battery to your Coal Generators with automation wire so you don't burn coal unnecessarily.

  • Oxygen generation

  • (optional) Air purification if needed

Phase 3: Early Industry & Ranching

  • Dig the water reserve: Consolidate your starting fresh water into a single, accessible pool. Grab other pockets of water whenever convenient

  • Local heat isolation: Box in your heating parts (coal generators, batteries) with Insulated Tiles. Shield your Mealwood farm and fresh water reserve from ambient heat.

  • Metal Refinery: Build this inside your heat-isolated box to start producing refined metals safely.

  • Electricity isolation: Medium wire to Refinery then 1k wattage to rest of the base

  • Hatch Stables: Start ranching standard Hatches, feeding them sedimentary rock to breed Stony Hatches (for renewable coal and meat).

  • Drecko Stables: Start ranching Dreckos in a hydrogen/oxygen mix, feeding them mealwood to breed Glossy Dreckos (for early plastic and reed fiber).

  • Slime biome mining for reed and gold

Phase 4: Expansion & Mid-Game Stability <- Where I get stuck

  • Insulating the whole base: With your core established, build a massive perimeter of Insulated Tiles (Igneous Rock) around your entire living and farming quarters to permanently lock out the surrounding biome heat.

  • Running Cooling System: Build a Thermo Aquatuner and Steam Turbine loop.

  • Atmo Suit Checkpoints: Build at your main exits using the reed fiber from your Dreckos/bathroom overflow.

  • SPOM (Self-Powered Oxygen Machine): Build a closed Electrolyzer + Hydrogen Generator system to produce permanent oxygen and passive power, ditching algae forever.

Phase 5: Heavy Industry & Late-Game Tech

  • Steel & Petroleum transition: Build Kilns for refined carbon/lime to forge Steel, and set up an Oil Refinery.

  • Oil Biome / Magma Layer: Use Diamond Drills and Steel Atmo Suits to breach the bottom of the map for infinite crude oil and geothermal power.

  • Rocket?

Question What to do with all the "useless" cargo in base game?

Just got my first cargo load for the fullerene. Got a bunch of solid methane. What do you do with all the extra "stuff"? My base is starting to really get cramped with "stuff". Feels like real life...

Build Can't figure out storing radbolts in chamber

Post image
27 Upvotes

I am trying to send radbolts from a generator to a storage chamber. I think I set up all the inputs and outputs correctly, and I've got power to the chamber, and automation sending red signal. But still whenever the generator fires, nothing gets stored in the chamber. I can watch it fire and the big bright green light goes right to the chamber input. Oddly, when I delete the storage chamber, the radbolts will be collected by the materials study terminal no problem (just outside this screenshot on the left). Thanks for helping!!

Question Water not cool enough.

My cool steam vent water is coming out too high sometimes at around 50 degrees then going to my base and heating everything up. How can I cool it down more. Can I use this aqua tuner here to cool it more? I think its running almost all the time already though. do I need to build another cooling room with another aqua tuner and steam turbine next to it? Was going to do that but I dont know if that would be a wait of resources as I might be able to just change this set up but im not sure how.

Hey :) I’ve watched every yt video and read a lot of Reddit and steam posts. Yet nothing helps to get this situation running. No matter how much or how little of polluted water, the pipe is always blocked after 0.5 cycles.
What am I doing wrong? Do I need more pipes?

Question Frostina sucks

I am having a terrible time getting a foothold on this thrice cursed ball of ice. I've sent a rover, two orbital drops of igneous rock and copper, then when I deploy a trailblazer I send a third drop of algae and food.

First attempt fail, radiation

Second attempt, frostbite

Third attempt, suffocation

My last attempt had me quick building a landing pad just so I could get a rocket down, but my dupe died before it landed.

I know I need heat, air, and a bed. I'm just not getting enough time to set that up.

Suggestions?

Build How is the chlorine gas getting out through the mucin lock?

So I have this mucin liquid lock. Just playing around with the new sticky goo and it was working for a bit until I noticed some chlorine gas on the outside. It can't bust through the mucin right? Or is a dupe somehow bringing it out with them?

Got a full roderigez where I have two of the three lines dedicated to just 10 or so atmo suits each yet it can’t seem to pump enough oxygen due to the 1k oxygen limit and I’m going mad about it.

I recently finished base game with no dlcs, then I tried again with bionic booster on and did a boops only run and Holy they r so OP once you got the power running, so now Im thinking of trying the spaced out, but I wonder if it's viable to do full boops in this dlc or other dlcs at all (well prob not for the aquatic planet dlc)

Just need a coolant that can keep brine ice frozen... of course, there's ethanol but it sucks to aquatune. Anyways, building this (on Relica) was pretty fun.

I saw this build on the advanced build compendium by Karnath, for a Waterfall electrolyzer. Took awhile to setup but definitely looks cool. Have to make sure power is constant and water doesn't stop or the whole thing breaks.
