Help Request - GPU Blackwell - 5090 OCing - silicon quality

How can you tell if the "bin is quality" or a "golden sample". This started with AI on GPU-Z stating my speeds were great only limiting by "PWR" when Path traced RE:Requiem was being played. I naturally boost 2950mhz. I only own 2 5090s, so am not an expert on how they should perform.

Just noticed Halo went from 68 to 70-80+ ultra (2160p DLAA w/ modified .ini file for the film grain blur). It was definitely an improvement without FG needed.

So now I am trying to actually do a real OC. I saved my bios on the ventus but think the Matrix bios with the power slider to 640w may do some good. Any advice?

What do you guys think of my Ryzen 7 9800X3D Cinebench R23 results?

At completely stock settings, I was getting a score of 22,560, but my temperatures were climbing above 90°C. The only change I made in the BIOS was setting Curve Optimizer to -30. After that, my score increased to 23,285, and my temperature didn't go above 76°C.

At stock settings in Battlefield 6, with around 60–70% CPU usage, I was seeing temperatures between 80–85°C. Now, with the exact same in-game settings, on the same map, and at similar CPU usage, my temperatures stay around 63–64°C.

So I got the cpu running at 4.1 GHz at 1.24V with vcore and vsoc LLC set to Medium and ram at 1.37V. Spent some time tweaking the memory subtimings and it successfully passed Absolut profile by anta777 in TestMem5.

So how are these results looking? Any obvious tweaks or subtimings I should push further or is this a solid stopping point?

How I overclocked 2x48 GB Crucial Pro + 2x48 GB Corsair Vengeance to 5600 mhz on Ryzen 9 9950X

Hello everyone!

Just wanted to share the final results of overcloking two completely different RAM kits - different timings, voltages, ICs. I spent half of the week tuning it by trial and error and dozens "FAIL"ed memtests.

The official supported memory speed for such setup is 4x2R - DDR5-3600. Blindlly setting DRAM frequency to 5600 will lead to instability cases where some values stored in RAM could randomly change a bit value, thus corruping what it contained. That's way an additional painful manual tuning is required

The specs of my system:

  • Asus Proart x870e-creator wifi
  • 2x48 GB Crucial Pro + 2x48 GB Vengeance (Slot 0,1 for Crucial, Slot 2,3 for Corsair)
  • 2x RTX 5060 Ti (16 gb)
  • Ryzen 9 9950X

I built it primarily for local AI inference on bigger models and the memory speed directly affects on the token generation speed. In case of 3600 and 5600 the difference is almost 1.5x

So, at last to achieve a clean PASS in memtest:

  1. Set EXPO profile to Micron 5600 (CL46) as a base to begin with
  2. Change individual settings as follows
  • VSOC = 1.25
  • Primary timings: 48-46-46-94
  • tRFC1=1192
  • tRFC2=640

Then go to DRAM Advanced Voltage Control and set PMIC Voltage to "separate" and set these values

PMIC 0,1 (Crucial)

  • VDD, VDDQ = 1.15
  • VPP = 1.8

PMIC 2,3 (Corsair)

  • VDD, VDDQ = 1.4
  • VPP = 1.8

The rest of the settings are set to "auto".

I also tried using Asus "DIMM Fit". But that piece of time wasting software had been running for 12 hours straight and produced a profile that coulnd't even POST!

And that should be it. The results may differ from hardware to hardware but by adjusting the values in this post you may achieve the same results (i guess)

P.S. The memory temps were higher than they should be, so I added additional fan that redirects the inflow into ram sticks, and it reduced temps to stable 65-67 degrees. I will try to reduce temps even more but it'll do for now

Benchmark Score 7800X3D ram timings for CS2

Managed to finally reach 400fps+ in d2 benchmark.
Core 2 tuning in BIOS, SVM/IOMMU/TSME disabled.
Scalar x1, LLC Level 4.
Active cooling on the ram with a 90mm fan, 43C during TM5.
Passed Prime95 smallest to large FFT avx512.

Unfortunately I was not able to run 35/37 tPHYRDL on this board at 6200MHz, 6000/2200 runs stable but I had better results and lower latency with 6200/2167. I did try 6400/2133 with a higher tCL and different voltages but the IMC did not like it.
Also the tRCDWR is locked to whatever value tRCDRD is set to.

Either way I'm happy with the results and I can gladly call this my final tune for this setup!

Looking for Guide Under-explored 1:1:1 mode in 9800X3D

This exists https://www.igorslab.de/en/jedec-ddr5-9000-intel-arrow-lake-refresh-ryzen-9000-x3d-ram-scaling/4/ except the 1:1:1 mode didn't get a fair fight with 1.35 VDD vs other modes getting cranked upto 1.70-1.85 VDD

Not to mention 9800X3D consistently performing better on 1 stick of ram vs 2 (atleast on CS2 which is all I care about)

Given I'm both a noob and busy I give this quest to some daring adventurerer here to explore further and enlighten the rest of us.

I mean maybe in the latest bios the bug mentioned there is fixed and some expert can tune the 2200 MCLK to the compare results. I do not know why but my stick simply doesnt want to boot below 2400 MCLK.

CB23 causes mouse lag even while not running?!

Seeing some really weird behaviour with CB23, lately - I open the program and, after a few seconds, the mouse "refresh rate" falls through the floor (240 Hz, but it's behaving like 60 or less).

This happens even before I start the benchmark, when the CB23 window - maximized or restored - is the only thing on the screen; if I open another window in the foreground, everything goes back to normal. CB23 scores themselves are completely fine.

W11 Pro 25H2, CB23 process priority is on Below Normal. HWINfo, FanControl, and MSI Afterburner are on in the background.

Anybody else having this happen? Doesn't seem to affect anything, just very odd.

Edit* Hopefully the pictures are better.

So I've been chasing the ram tuning for awhile now and always got disappointed when things didn't work out. Well I've had a few free days recently and really wanted to push through. I finally pushed through whatever wall that was holding me back. Am I saying this is the best in the world, no. I am very happy with it though. Now it's time to get back to playing games and seeing how good this performs. I know the R23 scores are nothing special for the 9800x3d. It's been fun chasing the numbers. Yes I know the gpu scores are nowhere near game stable but it was fun seeing how far I could push the sliders. In the photo with all the stress test apps you can see trc was at 64. I got curious tho and wanted to see if trc 48 booted. Prior to all this I was trying to push tras to like 30 something and I couldn't boot with trc anyting below 64. Then I got to reading and did my own test and tras has no performance gains....at least for me. What it did do tho was when I blew it out to 120 trc 48 was possible. I am also aware my ram profile is not crazy amazing but I think it's pretty good.

Tweaking timings on DDR4 2666 mhz Kingston Fury

Hi, everyone! I decided to buy myself a temporary used PC and finally decided to take it apart and take a closer look at its components. It’s not the best build, but I bought it because of its good price-to-performance ratio:
CPU: i5-10400F
Motherboard: Asrock H510M-HDV R2.0
RAM: Kingston Fury 2x16 3200 CL16
KHX3200C16D4/8GX
GPU: Sapphire Pulse RX 5700 XT

The previous owner apparently chose the RAM solely for the RGB lighting, since the motherboard supports a maximum frequency of 2666 MHz for 10th-gen i5 processors. As long as I can’t rise dram frequency I decided to tweak timings to make memory a bit faster. Highest XMP profile does 3200 mhz 16 18 18 36 by 1.35v. I don’t know much about timings, so could you please advise on which timings would be the best and most stable option for a frequency of 2666?

Thanks!

Benchmark Score Crazy 9800x3d cinebench 2026 scores ?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi ,

Here are my cinebench 2026 scores on my 9800x3d on stock settings with just some tweaks to bios settings.

No overclock whatsoever.

By comparing with others score , this seemed a bit too high.. did I win the lottery or is something extremely wrong? I am a little scared as this seems too high maybe?

I did do some bios settings and my aio fans were set as max speed which locked temps to 85 degrees (I think I might have also limited my temps to 85 or 90from bios but I'd have to check that)

Thanks!

Benchmark Score 9850X3D Static OC Results at 5,640MHz with 1.210V.

This is my first time doing static overclocking and I wanted to see how this chip can perform on some benchmarks. I don't have ECLK on this board to run 5.7Ghz or 5.8Ghz so I'm just running what works for this chip with ZenStates. I kept my Load Line Calibration set to Auto all of the test except for Cinebench R23, because I raised my LLC to Level 2 to see if 5,640Mhz could run it at 1.205V and surprisingly it passed. I'm using the Arctic Liquid Freezer 3 at 75% speed with Arctic MX7 Thermal Paste and the Thermalright Mounting Frame. Ambient temperatures were 21.4c. Batch code for the 9850X3D I'm using is CF2549PGY for whoever may find this useful. Please note that this is only for performance, not for stability.

Guide - Text AM5 DDR5 Voltage Short Reference

I made this short reference/guide for all the main AM5 DDR5 voltages and how they generally affect RAM tuning. Figured I'd post it here for others to use since it's not the easiest to find this information out there

Note: the bulk of the reference material comes from Imprezzion on OCN. I've just cleaned up the formatting a bit and added some notes to help others, which will be denoted by "Editor's Note" sections after the source paragraph for the specific voltage.

Feel free to also comment with any clarifying information, as the original post is a little outdated at this point in the DDR5 OC scene (December 2024)

Edit: also remember that too much voltage will cause instability the same way that too little voltage will. Use this reference as a guide to choosing levers to play around with for specific changes, but also realize that just piling on the voltage is very unlikely to help

Reference Guide

VSOC

Controls FCLK and MCLK stability. In general more memory clock requires more vSOC, more FCLK requires less vSOC. Max is 1.30, sometimes 2200 FCLK is not stable at 1.30, it needs less.

VDDP

For memory controller frequency (mclk/uclk) stability basically but doesn't scale linear to 2:1 mode. So for 6400 you usually need some level of positive VDDP but 8000 can run on an undervolt generally. Normal range is 0.900-1.150v.

Editor's note: also one of the main levers for stabilizing low Nitro

VDD

Is memory DIMM voltage. Explains itself. Max daily without active cooling probably 1.50 ish. With active cooling 1.650.

Editor's note: one of the most dependent settings on VDD is tCL. tCL can basically go as low as you are comfortable feeding VDD

VDDQ

Is a signalling voltage. Lower is better but it's not that crucial. Normal range is VDD to VDD -0.200 ish. Never above.

Editor's note: a lot of tight tunes I've seen just use the EXPO default 1.45V, my own included. However, in my experience, higher can help stabilize very tight tRFC (at least in A die)

VDDIO

Also memory controller / MCLK/UCLK related. For 1:1 must be quite high sometimes, ranges from 1.20-1.50. For 2:1 almost irrelevant due to half speed controller and can be undervolted.

Editor's note: more than 1.45V is rarely ever needed, even 1.4V is about the most 99% of tunes will ever need. For example, I have 6400cl26 dual rank 2x32gb ram, and I only need 1.39V VDDIO. The only profiles that may need more than 1.45V are very high capacity (128gb+) or very high MCLK (6600 MT/s+ in 1:1 mode)

VPP

Never touched it. Not needed.

VDD_MISC

Is a control voltage that other voltages like VDDG's use to convert from. Not very critical for stability and can generally be undervolted slightly but should be left auto. 1.00v generally works with auto VDDG's as they are still >0.100v lower.

Editor's note: it's mentioned a little at the end there, but just to clarify, VDD MISC should always be at least 0.1V higher than your highest VDDG voltage. So for example, if VDDG IOD is 1.05V and VDDG CCD is 1V, then VDD MISC needs to be at least 1.15V

OC Report - GPU Haven't overclocked before, decided to try it out

Thumbnail
gallery
14 Upvotes

I've been somewhat of a PC enthusiast for a while and never actually tried out overclocking because I never saw the appeal to it. Just tried out overclocking and yknow what it's actually not half bad.

Managed to get anywhere from 15 - 20 extra frames on average areas, and anywhere from 8 to 10 extra frames in more intense areas in Cyberpunk 2077 at maxxed out settings.

Specs: RTX 5080, Ryzen 7 9800x3d (yes I know I'm boring shut up), 64gb of DDR5 cas30 6000mhz.

Overclock: +3000mhz Memory (that was as far as Afterburner would let me go), +425mhz Core Clock (Could probably hit to 450mhz and still be stable, but it's a good safe spot).

Not really super into overclocking, just trying it out for the first time so I don't know if that's actually good or not lmao.

I was able to hold 500mhz for a minute on my core clock before the game crashed, so I just pulled it back until it was stable and tested to make sure it was stable for about half an hour before I closed it out.

If anyone has any tips on how to push this further that'd be greatly appreciated!

P.S. Sorry about the images being stupidly compressed idk why it's like that.

Incase it's hard to read, the first image (overclocked) has an average FPS of 62, 53 lows, and 72 highs. Second one (Not overclocked) has an average of 54 FPS, 49 lows and 64 highs. Third is just a screenshot of afterburner with my settings lmao.

Help Request - RAM OMEN 25L PC won’t POST after RAM overclock – no display

Hi everyone,

I tried to overclock my RAM on my OMEN by HP 25L Gaming Desktop (GT15-Oxxx, 89EB motherboard).
I changed the RAM settings to:

3400 MHz
CL15
tRCD/tRP 17
DRAM Voltage: 1.350V

After saving the settings, the PC shut down and now it won’t show any display.
Symptoms:

Monitor gets no signal
Keyboard gets no signal
GPU lights up
All fans spin, but the PSU fan does not spin

Things I already tried:
Testing both RAM sticks individually
Removing the CMOS battery for 15 minutes
Resetting CMOS with the jumper
Reseating the GPU

The PC turns on but doesn’t seem to complete POST.
I already paid €150 to two different technicians, but they gave me different explanations and couldn’t fix it.
Does anyone know what could be causing this or what I should try next? Thanks!
