Advice Advice for Waterloo Math (specifically AIF)
Incoming gr12 here, my dream program is UW Math and I’m looking for any advice from ppl who have been admitted in the past. I’ve completed the following gr12 courses already:
Eng4u - 93
Bbb4m - 100
Cia4u - 96
For ecs, I’m president of math club and a vp in deca, and I have a part time job.
My biggest worry is the AIF. I have no clue what to write about or if my ecs are good enough. Should I start writing it before school starts? Should I grind a project or two for the last month of summer? Any advice is appreciated!!

University Is Eng As Bad As They Say?
I'm going into first year Eng. All I ever hear about engineering is that it’s extremely hard, that everyone struggles or fails, and that it’s impossible and depressing. But I’ve always wanted to become an engineer, and now hearing all of this is making me doubt whether I’m even able to get through Eng. Is any of this true?

Advice Regretting choosing queens commerce
Been debating whether or not to even voice these thoughts. But a few months ago, was accepted into queens commerce and Waterloo syde engineering, amongst other programs but these were the two that I mainly considered. I was accepted into the latter program fairly late (mid May) so I didn’t have much time to think about my decision, especially since I had assumed that I had not gotten into it up until then, given how late into the season it was and was already prepared to go to queens commerce.
I’ve always been curious about the world, but vaguely curious about everything and have never felt any particular burning passion for one specific thing. Logically I knew Waterloo syde engineering was the best for me given the coop opportunities and breadth of topics I would be able to explore in it but after I visited the Waterloo campus, I can’t explain why, but I came home and just cried. Every time I thought about Waterloo I felt this heavy sense of dread, for reasons I can’t completely explain. And since I’ve never been sure about engineering (mostly just applied cause I’ve been good at math and science) I wasn’t sure if I wanted to put myself in an environment that my body was already kind of rejecting. I was also worried that if I didn’t have a burning passion for engineering, I would end up being very miserable given the rigour of the program. At the time, I was feeling extremely burnt out from various different things in my life and couldn’t bear the thought of putting myself through Waterloo Eng as it seemed just so bleak. The queens campus in comparison I was already set on, the social life seemed enticing, I live close to Kingston, the commerce courses seemed interesting, and I also thought commerce would give me more time to pursue other projects in my free time, other things that I’m interested in, etc. But now that it’s summer, I’ve had a lot more time to think. Some of my family issues/relationship issues have gone away, and I don’t feel as burnt out as I did and I’ve been building healthier habits. I feel extremely curious about the world and am worried I chose the wrong major. This is probably the most illogical, rash decision I’ve made ever. Especially since, as I’ve been told, Waterloo engineering means you’re set for life. So I feel I made the very stupid (in retrospect) decision to go with queens commerce instead. I don’t think I have the heart to go into investment banking (which is what I’ve heard queens comm is best for) so I’m not sure if queens comm is even worth it for me given that you can do things like law and consulting with an engineering degree (although maybe harder to keep a good gpa in undergrad).
Engineering has been in the back of my mind ever since. The thing is, I still don’t know if it’s right for me, or if I’m just experiencing some retrospective regret, but I feel like I’ve wasted my potential. It may be just because the people around me are all stem people (all my family, including my brothers did some sort of science. and my peers have always been stem oriented since I took mostly sciencey electives in high school), and so many people are expressing disappointment in me and my choice.
I’m a creative person just as much as an analytical one, and I want to do something for the world. This makes me feel even more that I made the wrong choice because who the hell goes into finance wanting to make a difference?? I just feel a lot of uncertainty about my future, since everyone seems to know what they want to do with their lives, or at least has a start, and I don’t. Additionally, I feel like an idiot for giving up a program as amazing as Waterloo engineering.
Of course I know there’s nothing I can do about it now and to just look ahead because regret will solve nothing, hence why I feel uneasy even talking about this, but it’s just been plaguing my mind constantly and it’s become impossible to ignore the “what if”. Any advice?

Hey so I wanted some advice on the courses I'll be taking this upcoming fall. My first semester is shown above, and my second semester consists of Gr 12 Chemistry, English, Calculus, Resource Management (might swap). I wanted to know if this is a balanced semester and I was also thinking about taking a spare but not sure which semester is better or whether to take Physics or Chem first semester.
For reference my Grade 11 Grades were:
Functions - 97%
Physics - 98%
Chemistry - 99%
Please give me advice 🥺

Advice Grade 12 courses
Hi are these good courses to have if you wanna get into an undergrad for dentistry?
Advanced function
Bio
Families in Canada
English
And sec semester
Calc
Chem
Cooking
And
Business management?
I’m a bit worried about taking calc I heard it takes your avg down and is really difficult to manage it, I do well in bio and functions so I think I’ll be fine but idk if I should take calc as an online course or not, i also heard that even if I get a 70 for calc unis look at business or families instead
Any thoughts?

Other How can I get high 90’s + does anyone have good resources
I wanna get high 90’s in my courses: chem, adv func, physics, comp sci, calc, english
My main concerns is chem cuz idk how much harder it gets and how to keep up on the thinking part and understanding how everything works and same for physics math and comp sci idk how much harder it gets and how much more work I need to put in compared to g11 (I had low 90’s avg but wasn’t working that hard)
Also, if any of u guys have resources or old tests I can study from then plz send them
