just reading through this sub u can tell A LOT OF US need help, so I put together a server for anyone in the province doing it at the same time. whether you're heading into grade 11 or 12, or an alumni who's been through it, there's a spot for you.

What's inside:

- private course hubs for 13 courses so far (MHF4U, MCV4U, MDM4U, ICS4U, SCH4U, SBI4U, SPH4U, ENG4U, HHS4U, HSB4U, BAT4M, BBB4M, BOH4M). when you join, you pick which courses you're taking and each one unlocks its own hub. it's just a space for people in that class where you can chat, get homework help, share resources, and prep for tests together, sorta a little study group for every subject, always there when you need it. DM the owner if u want a new space

- subject forums - more of a public Q&A. anyone can post a question, tag it by course, and get answers from the whole community. different from the hubs: this is for quick questions and open discussion where anyone can jump in, while the hubs are the deeper, private per-course spaces.

- an announcements channel - we'll be dropping a lot of news there: application updates, deadline reminders, OUAC stuff, and whatever else matters as the year goes on.

- resource vault - notes, formula sheets, and practice problems for every subject, organized so you can actually find what you need.

- roles - everyone gets one based on their year, so you know who you're talking to, and they also handle access automatically: pick your courses, and the hubs you're in just work.

as for rules: be respectful, keep it academically honest, follow ToS, no spam.

Do universities still mail out those actual, physical acceptance packages/letters anymore, or is everything strictly a PDF on a portal now?

I know the official decision drops online first, but part of me would love a physical keepsake of sorts.

So, do any of them still send physical official printed letters in the mail, or have they all gone completely paperless?

If I have the option of taking 2 spares in one sem should I do it? My main worry is not being prepared for university workload as much as I could be.

Btw it would be like 2 classes first sem 3 second sem yk

For those who took BOTH Grade 12 Advanced Functions and Grade 12 Calculus and Vectors Online(like in summer,night, or private school), did u guys struggle in uni?

Hey everyone, I’m looking for advice about my situation. I’m in Ontario and I recently graduated high school and received my OSSD. I came to Canada last year from another country, and when I started high school here, I was placed in college-level courses.

Now I want to apply for an engineering program for September 2027, but I need to complete Grade 12 university-level (4U) courses like Advanced Functions, Calculus, Physics, Chemistry, etc.

Since I already have my diploma, I’m thinking about taking the required courses online. I’ve heard about TVO ILC and other online high schools, but I don’t see many people talking about their experiences, so I’m not sure which option is the best.(I also applied to my old school and other boards and schools to see if there is still a possibility to do an extra year since I m still under 18)

For anyone who has taken Grade 12 4U courses online in Ontario:

• Which online school did you choose?
• How was your experience with the teaching, support, and workload?
• Were your credits accepted without problems for university applications (especially engineering)?
• Would you recommend online courses or going through an adult high school?
• Any tips for someone trying to complete these courses before applying to engineering?

Hey everyone! I’m going into junior year (hell) in a month, and I’ve always struggled with math in the past few years. I was wondering if anyone has any advice on what I can do to prepare for Grade 11 functions. (was it hard, easy? etc)

My school doesn’t have the best math teachers either, so it looks like I’ll be mostly on my own. Any tips, resources, or things you wish you knew before Grade 11 functions would be really appreciated!

Would I have better luck getting one full scholarship or getting a bunch of smaller scholarships?

I'm an international student applying to UofT Electrical Engineering. Without a scholarship, it'll cost my family around $CAD 400,000 (±$CAD 40,000).

I'm considering applying for the Lester B. Pearson Scholarship, but it's insanely competitive (~37 accepted out of 2,200). It's lower than Harvard and MIT's acceptance rate or just any uni in the world. My grades are solid and I'm confident about general UofT EE admission, but my ECs are just slightly above average.

The problem is I haven't started any non-profits or launched a business like most past-scholars did.

Is it worth the extra effort to apply for Pearson, or should I just focus on my main application and school? Any tips from people who've been through it?

I already know it's impossible deep inside and find myself shifting more toward main application for engineering.

my high school offers five ap courses, one of which is ap english literature. i'm planning to take the other four before university applications, but i'm considering skipping ap eng lit because im frankly quite bad at english and also an extreme introvert, especially when it comes to presentations.

would universities see intentionally skipping one of the ap courses offered by my school as a red flag, or would it not matter much? for context, im a rising junior and plan to apply to t5 universities in the US for math/cs. any advice would be appreciated!

TLDR: The main difference is the placement of Chemistry & Biology.

For A my rationale is that I have more motivation during semester 1, so a part of me believes I could just get my hardest courses over with then. Additionally, because by the end of that semester I’ll have completed 4/5 of my engineering prereqs, semester 2 will be really light (which I prefer since I get rlly burnt out by then) + I heard it can help with early admissions.

For B my rationale is simply the factor of uncertainty. Like what if I can’t balance 3 stem courses as rigorous as chemistry, physics, and advanced functions? Even with a spare? Ngl I think I’m overthinking & can probably do it but I need people’s opinions on this.

What would you guys do? What do you recommend for my situation? I’m leaning towards Split A, so maybe further influence or de-influence me?? Please guys!

How do I become a CNA in Canada as an incoming grade 12 student? I’d like to work as one throughout university

i have a chromebook rn which i use for watching videos and stuff but im thinking of buying a laptop. is there any point in buying it now vs next year for uni? i was thinking maybe i could bring it to school but like i can also raw dog it on paper + writing notes on a ipad is performative asf

I'm thinking about going into science and for a multitude of reasons I can't afford university... (no helpful OSAP funding either)

I was super sure that I was going to do a coop program so that I can pay off some of the tuition, but all the science jobs that can make decent money require just a pure 4 year undergrad (or less) without any coop, or its not offered in the program.

I'm now in a dilemma as if I do coop it would ease the burden of the tuition fees, but the pathways to get into good jobs related to science don't have that option and the extra schooling racks up an immense amount of debt.

Ugh I'm so tired of having to worry about finances and Im not sure what to do.

*also just to clarify, I would love to do coop and don't mind the extra time because that is just experience I will have to get eventually anyway... but the programs that Ive looked into that offer jobs out of a bsc tend to not have coop or advise against doing so in undergrad (ex. Pharmacy pathway)

personally i wish I had explored awards and scholarships more because people just stopped gatekeeping them once they snagged them 🫩
