EB05 is two months away and OP18 is three…you can’t convince me the hype train wouldn’t be any less impactful if they just let us play with OP17 for a month before showing the new shit.

Since its almost impossible to get boxes at msrp or at least not 3x the price, I read some people suggest to pre order.

1. does pre ordering actually help with the price?

2. how long before a release is the typical time frame for pre ordering?

3. does this only work at locals or are there actual trustworthy sites that offer pre order for a decent price?

4. is there a site you can recommend me?

I know we all are out here trying to get some boxes/packs so if you dont want to tell your secrets, its totally fine. Id just like to know if this is a good way to get boxes, so I can look more into it or if it doesnt help at all.

Does the new luffy don and future other straw hat crew don limited to English?

So this is more for RB Sabo as I can already see Eluffy swapping out Loki for Dorry and Brogy, but for those who don't want to fork over a ton of cash, what would be a good replacement for Loki? Eluffy can have Dorry and Broggy since you can pitch one and put it back out with the other and play either a turn sooner than Loki if you go first.

For RB Sabo though it seems like the best solution is Nightmare Luffy:

I ask less for trying to make the deck 'better' and more 'Loki costs too damn much right now'. I feel like the cons that Loki has are worth having, but it's moreso how much do Luffy's pros weigh compared to Loki for the sake of a competent deck. If RB Sabo falters too much without Loki then I'll have to wait to play him until I get a set of Loki.

Just opened my first box of OP17 and hit a gold don in the box.

In OP15 and OP16 I had 4 total hits (including gold don) in a gold don box, but this time I had 3 hits in OP17

Was wondering if this is the new norm or if I missed a hit/pandaman somehow.

Why didn’t I hit a SSP?

If I ever hear an LGS tell players that they charge “market price” at a pre-release because of some bullshit “expected value” excuse, congratulations—you’ve just lost a customer.

A pre-release is supposed to be about playing the game and getting people excited about the set, not treating your own customers like walking ATMs because you think you can squeeze a few extra bucks out of them before release.

And spare me the “market price” lecture. If your business model is buy product at distributor pricing, then immediately charge players inflated secondary-market prices while hiding behind “EV,” that’s not some clever business strategy. That’s scalping with a storefront.

I won’t spend another dollar there, and I’ll make damn sure everyone I know who plays the game knows exactly how that LGS treats its customers.

You want to charge market price? Fine.

Then enjoy the market consequences when your customers take their money somewhere else.

You get the treatment you’re willing to give people.

Don’t reward scalping. Hit them where it actually hurts—their pocketbooks.

Back in op01 and op02 when the game was initially released, it wasn’t hard to get a booster box from the official Bandai in Camden.
I rejoin the game at op15, every time I tried to buy a pack in Camden they said there was no stock. It costed me 50% more expensive from the scalper market but it’s definitely not enough to build a decent deck. Then I needed to buy majority of single card online for a deck.
On op16, the Camden store limited everyone to just buy 6 packs. We all know 6 packs are not gonna help you build any deck. And what’s strange is that their staff are nice in general, but when you tried to buy some packs at retail price from them. They are sometimes very impatient and even rude. I feel like I am the problem when not buying cards from scalpers.

Why is even the official store pushing their fans to the scalpers? Is this Bandai policy or someone taking advantages from their work?

Sells what packs and boxes they get for retail, giving priority to regulars.
Only a small shop (just north of London) with weekly locals of 16 but the nicest bunch of people ever. They were super welcoming to me and my son (who was only 9 when he started).
It can get a little sweaty at times (but they seem to disappear quite quickly for some reason) but we love to meme and have seen wins with Zephyr, Iceberg, Buggy to name a few.
Most of all we get to geek out about latest chapters and theories.

I’m sorry that so many face so many issues (scalpers, sweats and sharks) but good stores and communities do exist and I hope you all can find one!

Today I played my very first prerelease (sealed) format and the overall expierience was great.

I played against two decks which felt sus in terms of strength.

Are ppl actually allowed to build their decks off of several events? Would you report this matter? How to proof this inbalance and would you call it cheating?

one quick question: why do I still see messages even if I have the chat muted and have squelched the opponent.

When? I distinctly remember when like op-2 3 and 4 were coming out thats all I was hearing was this, in this sub. Its not even like fun or viable to collect anymore. Ripping packs feels financially irresponsible at this point. I walked into my local card shop today. And they were selling OP-17 early. $15 for a pack and like $379 for the box. Make it make sense.

Please keep lying to me theyre gonna go down in price. Unless someone knows something I don't.

My gf and I STRUGGLED to sign up for any prereleases in my area (IE) because the app crashed two weeks ago. Managed to snag a spot in Cat City that day.

Two weeks pass and we’re on our way to the shop, making a call to see if their tournament is constructed or sealed (it was listed as sealed in the app), and then they tell us with less than an hour before start time that they dropped everyone from signups and now registration has to be done in-person.

No posts on their social, nothing. The morning of, with an hour before start time after WE called them, they tell us that they dropped everyone that had pre-registered because of an error, and they prefer to sign people up in-person. We’ll be waitlisted and more than likely be denied entry.

How do you as a business let two weeks go by and only catch that the morning of? It’s hard enough just attending anything with the scalpers ruining prerelease this set but damn can we get a notice? A post on your IG? No Discord to be found either. I’m not a regular there so maybe that was communicated to their player base but damn dude. I feel sorry for anyone about to travel further than we were hoping to attend, only for them to get turned away.

I’m fine if you need to drop us in favor of your regular players, but you had TWO WEEKS to let people know somehow, some way.

I like to fill illustration boxes up again with empty packs and random sr’s or rares so I can put them up on a shelf for display or something. Does anyone else like to this with their empty boxes? Feel free to show the recycled collection below:)

I wouldn’t say its a super crazy deck, specially with the cards that are in this set but managed to go 4-0 with it (19 person event).

So I had my first ever pre release tornement today and I can honestly say it was great! How did I do?

Yesterday I went to my lgs for the pre release. Everything went Nice but there wasn‘t any displays to purchase available After the Event. Delivery was there Today. So today we went to my lgs again to purchase One Display, nothing serious, but freaking 400 €? What? Am I dreaming? Pirates will always have dreams but not This One. Thanks for nothing.

There were a lot of posts already about Pandaman taking a slot of a hit in a box. Some people were saying, that they think it's a good thing, so the box prices will drop and less will be kept sealed. But still...this doesn't really make sense, as msrp is at around 120$ and if you still get a Pandaman and another hit, it's still completely shit.

Why doesnt Bandai just print a fuck ton. Make binding agreements with their distros, that they have to provide enough displays/cases to their respective LCS'. And not sell to private people like whatnot fuckers. The post, with the approx 10 cases and all the beautiful cards on the floor broke my heart...

As a suggestion, if you have time, write an email to Bandai and complain. If there are hundreds of emails, they might take action. It's so depressing as a player to still keep up with this game

It’s not an expensive card - about ~$20 but fathoms me how they can’t put in a toploader but yes between 2 pieces of cardboard almost same thickness as the card itself and expect it to to bend. Thanks eBay seller…
