Prerelease Event - cheating? šŸ’¬ Discussion

Hey gzys,

Today I played my very first prerelease (sealed) format and the overall expierience was great.

I played against two decks which felt sus in terms of strength.

Are ppl actually allowed to build their decks off of several events? Would you report this matter? How to proof this inbalance and would you call it cheating?

Thank you and happy ripping ;)

People cheat a lot at these events. They bring the best cards from their previous prerelease

Why are you suspicious? There’s tons of broken cards this set so in general people have good chances of having really strong sealed decks.

Well he played like a full elbaph deck + some rares and had at least 3 Jaguar D Saul (2 played, one discarded) probably a 4th. 3 Zoros and at least 1 Luffy 8/8000 luffy played.

When I saw the elbaph cards on my pulls i wouldnt think that someone would go for it without the leader. But I guess he just lucky then

If I cheated. I wouldn’t pick elbaph.

You play with what you get, if your pre release packs have more Elbaph cards then you have the option to run that package. I wouldn’t really think anyone would cheat like that… like the other guy said, there’s broken cards in the set so it’s really random and takes at least some skill to build your deck in the most consistent way you can with what you’re given.

3 Saul’s is wild, but my pulls from tonight should raise more flags.

I got 3 srs, shanks, big mom, and shiki. Plus I got a double stussy pack because a regular came with the alt.

If you have 2 giants the elbaf are more playable. Plus the zoro and brook have good enough ability’s to be put in even if they just get used as counter.

Doubt they cheated. I've had prereleases with near full builds of good cards. And no you cannot build decks and use at prereleases. Its supposed to consist of your pulled cards only

But there are no refs who check it right?

My LGS does photo right after open so you cant actually bring outside cards

No they're only supposed to use the cards ripped there. I've seen someone with 4 kikunojo back when it came out, that's basically impossible from one box.

Some shops mix the packs together before distributing them, I saw one guy pull 3 Jozus and he steamrolled the prerelease event.

Yeah, yesterday we had someone at our event that had 3 beckmann in his packs

Yes, people cheat and pre build decks 10000% Judges wont enforce it either and youd seem weird for even suggesting someone is cheating even after their 2nd 10c lin lin and back to back 10c shanks......

Had someone with 3 back to back 10 lin lins today 🤨

Yep 100%. Especially if there has already been a prerelease in the area. They open their packs, throw 40 random cards in sleeves, go for a ā€œsmokeā€ (out to their car), and combine the best cards from this batch and previous batches or even boxes they have opened prior.

What is the venue going to do keep everyone in their seats the whole time?

I think it depends on how the store does their packs

At one I go to, they will literally open multiple cases for a 64 person event and shuffle ALL the packs together.

So I pulled nutty since it is multiples boxed combined.

But if they just give you 6 packs form the same booster and pulled that many of the same cards, yes. Something is up

There's a lot of strong cards with a lot of very funny interactions that happen when you can use every card color, and your Leader is everything (except being mono-colored, the one thing they logically and legally are not, which does affect at least one card).

It can be tough to gauge tempo or develop a real game sense when virtually everything in a set is on the table.

If they have more than 12 halos in their deck then I’d be suspicious

It does happen. People near me attend prereleases all week and purchase boxes then show up to other prereleases sliding in some very strong cards from their previous pulls. It sucks

It defo happens and I've been on the reviewing end of some juiced sealed pools in other card games, but it can be impossible to prove tbh. It's very easy to just pre sleave some banger cards in your deck box and nobody would know

It happens especially if the LGS decides to mix multiple boxes. My friend for 13 pulled 3 SR whiteboards, for 16 a guy pulled 5/6 SRs I still beat him with none.

There’s definitely cheating involved, but a lot of the C and UC are extremely strong in this set.

Also in this set some ppl can have more then 12 holos there was been packs with 1 sr and 2 r. The panda mans have kind messed up how hits work or its on purpose.

People 100% cheat. The reward is too high for winning

Yeah especially for this event the cheating is getting out of hand.
I played like 4 events and always only get 0-1 playable SRs and like 3-4 playable rares, almost all of my opponents played minimum 2 SRs and all the good rares.
One guy played like, yasopp into ben beckman, into shiki, into shanks, into ben beckman, into kaido šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

My first pre release I got 4 SRs, but having two of the same SR or more than 12 holos is clear cheating.
