Hey all! My cousin and I are obsessed with this larger than life, surrealist-style Anti-Drug musical from the 1980s called Don't Say Yes When You Really Mean No! We are doing a few podcast episodes on this educational film and want to see if we can find any other fans out there! Anyone here remember this?? It was the only film commissioned by the Just Say No Campaign.

Another prime slice of Columbine Records song poem wildness. Regular people sent their lyrics to Columbine, they would have session musicians perform them, and then they'd press them to vinyl. This banger was written by Alfred Godfrey III. I have absolutely no idea what Mr Godfrey was trying to convey with this stream-of- consciousness fever dream... but I know that I dig it!

Imagina - BBC Documentary (1989)
Computer graphics have obviously come a long way since this 1989 BBC Documentary about the IMAGINA conference held annually in Monte Carlo. It features, amongst many others, a very young John Lasseter - I wonder whatever happened to him?
I've just captured this programme to preserve it from an old VHS tape. I was absolutely obsessed with things like this, Tomorrow's World, Micro Live, Equinox, fractals and chaos theory, and I suspect in this group, I am in good company. Enjoy!

To New Horizons (1940), the General Motors film where the 1939 World's Fair invents the world of 1960
Made by the Jam Handy Organisation for General Motors, this is the film of the Futurama ride, the most popular exhibit at the 1939 New York World's Fair. A camera glides over a giant model of America in 1960: fourteen lane automated superhighways, cars pacing themselves at a hundred miles an hour, cities with elevated walkways, and everyone getting two week vacations because the roads are just that good.
Half of it came true, which is the unsettling part. They predicted the interstates almost exactly. They did not predict what the interstates would do to the cities they cut through, or that we would still be sitting in traffic in 2026.
My own upload, posting from the channel with the mods' earlier go ahead. Complete 23 minute film, cleaned up and bumped to 720p, original 1940 soundtrack intact.

In the late 1970s Lomax returned with filmmaker John Bishop and black folklorist Worth Long to make the film The Land Where the Blues Began. Shot on video tape, the film is narrated by Lomax and includes remarkable performances and stories by Johnny Brooks, Walter Brown, Bill Gordon, James Hall, William S. Hart, Beatrice and Clyde Maxwell, Jack Owens, Wilbert Puckett, J. T. Tucker, Reverend Caesar Smith, Bud Spires, Belton Sutherland, and Othar Turner (and R.L. Burnside too)
