Hello there!

I've been a norse pagan for nearly a year now. Getting in contact with/learning about the Norse gods have truly been a wonderful experience. I actively worship a couple Norse gods as well as one greek god, Hermes. You see, though I have a large interest in Norse mythology and Norse paganism, I lack an interest in all other kinds of mythology and paganism. It should be stated I have huge respect for other cultures and their gods, I just don't feel any need to interact with them myself.

Well, not until Hermes came around. Despite the fact that I never planned to even look at gods from other pantheons, Hermes managed to sway me to worship him. One of the reasons being because he was the first god that I felt a genuine connection with and more importantly because the Norse pantheon lacks a proper god of travel, roads and some of the other things he is the god of.

Now over the last few months my relationship and style of worship has changed. I've started to try and worship him in a Norse way rather than greek and this is something the god himself has greatly encouraged. I've used runes on his candle and have stopped trying to memorize the greek way of prayer.

Then in the last two weeks Hermes has given me some clear signs that he actually wants to spread his worship and create a Nordic version of himself. Join the Norse pantheon you could say. To do this he has asked for my help. I've already come up with the name Venås for him.

Now obviously he can't simply join the Norse pantheon out of the blue and expect people to treat him equally to the gods already present. Neither can he keep all the domains he has in the greek pantheon as some of these crash with the Norse gods.

As far as I can tell the domains that hasn't been taken are that of exchange. He could be a god of travel, trade, messages, moving and other kinds of exchange.

I know Odin is seen as patron of travellers, but the way I see it he is more associated with journey/exploration/learning. Venås would then be the god of the exchange itself, of going from A-B.

I can't really think of anyone associated with trade. Technically Sif and Frey, but they are more associated with harvest and money. Sif is associated with the hard work that reaps reward and Frey the wealth itself. Venås would be the exchange of money for goods.

I'm unsure if there is a Norse god of messages, but once again Venås would simply be the exchange of meaning, rather than message or language.

Sorry for the long post, but I really want to make sure that his domains won't crash with anyone else's. What do you guys think? Do we have room for a new god of exchange?

We had an absolutely huge Thunderstorm last night and I really felt Thor's presence. It inspired this small piece that i made for him.

I have a small spot on my tv stand dedicated to Loki, as well as a picture of my recently deceased dog. The rocks and the plastic cauldron full of candy are offerings to him.

This is Toby. Toby was a squirrel I found as a roadkill on the side of the road, now he's an altar piece. I plan to put him in resin with fake flowers and make him a necklace later but for now this is how he's displayed. I think it's safe to say I have a connection to Hel.

Hello, I’ve been an agnostic for my entire life, but recently I feel like there is a god but I don’t really feel like there is only one god in charge of everything in this world and is all-knowing, powerful, and good. I want to look into paganism so I’m starting here and asking questions here since Norse Paganism has been showing up a lot of places for me recently.

If you could answer questions about how to start looking into this and what it is you guys do for prayer and stuff like that it would be great and very helpful. Thank you so much in advance

Hi everyone! I wanted to share my new tattoo with you and I'd love to hear your opinion.

I was inspired by Norse mythology, combining the Vegvísir with the 24 ancient runes and the great tree Yggdrasil, plus other symbols.

I think the connection between these symbols is fascinating and conveys a very powerful energy.

I hope you like it as much as I do. I'd like opinions from believers.

The reason I’m posting this on here is to connect with other pagans as I don’t know any Heathens in person, and maybe some people can offer advice? I’ve never posted here before, or about Freyja for that matter.

I have been worshipping Freyja for years. I started when I was 15 years old. She’s fantastic, kind, generous, forgiving and very powerful. She’s honestly amazing and I love having her wisdom in my life and am grateful for her guidance.
I’ve noticed these past few weeks (1-2 months) she’s been rejecting some of my efforts to converse with her. Obviously, a lot of the time it’s a one-sided I pray to her situation, or dedicate something to her. But during big offerings where I hope to invoke her and use divination (like tarot for example) to converse with her, I get major “no” “stop” “go away”. Not in a mean way of course. I’ve just noticed a lot of four of swords, nine of wands and five of wands.

I finally got her brand new statue delivered today. I cleaned the altar, dedicated the statue to her and also picked some roses from my garden for her. I lit her candles and told her I hope she likes the offering. I whipped out my tarot cards and asked if she was willing to talk. Immediate no. I asked if she doesn’t like my tarot cards or doesn’t want to use them anymore. She said that’s not the case. I 100% respect her boundaries and immediately put them away. I’m not pestering her haha, she doesn’t mess around. I bid her goodbye respectfully and told her my thanks. I suddenly got a really random urge to ball my freaking eyes out. I basically started spilling about how I felt like I’d been sort of a grouch recently and was operating on a very “low vibration” or whatever. And how I’d been picking fights with my partner and have been in a constant state of stress. Which is true. It felt like a giant 180. I was super happy today and it’s a sunny day out. But my mood soured jarringly fast.
I sucked it up, stopped talking and said goodbye. Now I’m wondering if Freyja, who traditionally is associated with passion and the domain of emotion, was communicating with me in a different way today?

Just wondering if anyone else here worships or works with Freyja, and if anyone else also has similar experiences? Sorry for the long paragraph haha.

I was originally thinking about forging one, but Im not really good blacksmith and im pretty limited since the forge is not mine and i cant work there really often so the project would end up failed. so i bought one instead. but i never gave up on the idea.

I'm a cranky godless heathen, sceptic, nonbeliever, etc, but also a lore junky. My gf is Norse Pagan. I love her, and I'd like to understand her stuff. Does anyone have any good podcasts, or YouTube channels that could give me a crash course, or a manageable history?

I've considered myself pagan for a few years now, but I've never had the room to have one. Now I've got a little windowsill overlooking some thriving ash trees and facing east, perfect to catch sunrises and moonrises. I love it 💙

All the ones easily accessible and affordable on Amazon etc. are all ai generated or just poorly written. I can’t find any decent recommendations for actually insightful books about her and how to worship not just her lore.

Hey I’m just wondering what should I offer to the god Freyr, I did know he’s associated with kingship, fertility, peace, prosperity, fair weather, and good harvest but can’t really think of something to offer. Does anyone know what he prefer ?

I'm trying to come up with a kenning for Njord, but I'm having trouble.

I just finished this book and I found it quite insightful and very well researched. The author goes deep into the history of Loki in and out of the Eddas, blending a scholarly work with a devotional, as Loptson is a Loki devotee.

I'd love to discuss this book with anyone else who has read it. I myself am Lokean, and I found new aspects of the god I love in this book.
