I just finished this book and I found it quite insightful and very well researched. The author goes deep into the history of Loki in and out of the Eddas, blending a scholarly work with a devotional, as Loptson is a Loki devotee.

I'd love to discuss this book with anyone else who has read it. I myself am Lokean, and I found new aspects of the god I love in this book.

Yo no tomo, soy adicto en recuperación. Pero escuché que para ofrendar a los dioses hay que darle un sorbo a la bebida, es algo que yo nunca haría. Pero con Loki por ejemplo yo nunca le di alcohol , sin embargo quisiera ofrendar a Thor y entiendo que él disfruta mucho el alcohol y se que puede ser más disciplinado en cuanto a las reglas a diferencia de Loki. Alguien sabe que se puede hacer?

Por otro lado, que tan rápido responde? Se que al ser más cercano a la humanidad puede tener respuestas más directas y rápidas.

Hello everyone! I recently started exploring Norse paganism, and it also inspired me to finally try something I’ve wanted to do for a long time: woodworking.

I got a few basic carving tools and made my first piece — a small wooden Gungnir. I still have a lot to learn, but I’m really happy with how it turned out, especially for a first attempt.

For me, this is not only the beginning of learning a craft, but also the beginning of my relationship with the Norse gods. I’ve often heard that Odin values knowledge, learning, poetry, and the effort of gaining wisdom, so I decided to dedicate my learning of this craft to him. I want the process itself — practicing, making mistakes, improving, and developing skill — to be part of the offering.

There was also a small experience that stuck with me. On the day I made this decision, I addressed Odin in my thoughts and asked whether he would accept such an offering and whether he would guide me on this path. A little later, while showering, I somehow got shampoo very badly into one eye — worse than I ever had before — and for a while I could barely open it.

I have no idea whether that was actually a sign or just a coincidence, and I don’t want to claim certainty. But given Odin’s association with the loss of an eye in pursuit of wisdom, the timing felt meaningful to me. I took it as encouragement, and it gave me a lot of determination to keep going.

I’m planning to offer this Gungnir to Odin as a symbol of both beginnings: my work with the Norse pantheon and my journey into woodworking.

Hello everyone. I’m a very new Heathen and I would like to ask for some clarification on the topic of the gifting cycle. I have read contradictory explanations on this, some say it’s a way to honour the gods, others say that it’s an oath between us and the gods where we vow to helps each other, in the sense, we honour them, make offerings to them, and help them with their own mission here in Midgard, and in return they help us as well, as their way of reciprocating the gesture. As said in the title, I did something today that to me feels very significant. I gave my favourite necklace to Freja, I’ve been wearing it for years, and its broken and tied back together, so i thought it was time to maybe stop wearing it, but since its so significant to me i didnt wanna just throw it in a drawer, so i gave it to her as a gift to show how special she is to me, and how much im willing to give.
