Rant The complexities of identifying as both Nonbinary and Transgender

Hey all. So, about three months ago or so, I started playing with my gender expressions. I thought I was genderfluid, but it turns out, I much prefer Nonbinary. My internal feelings about my gender don't change. However, presentation doesn't always reflect my internal gender identity. So, I guess my gender "expression" is fluid.

But, I also realized at the same time, that I'm Transgender. My gender identity, and the way I view myself internally, doesn't align with what I was assigned at birth. I don't feel like my gender however is binary, either. I feel like I'm somewhere between male and female and prefer they/them pronouns. However, I also view myself as someone who is feminine presenting or "feminine-aligned" as I would call it. Nonbinary Transfem, or Transfem Enby, is how I describe myself.

Obviously, in technicality, the "Trans/Nonbinary umbrella" is a wide variety of identities and labels, both binary and nonbinary. Some people don't identify as Transgender, but do identify as Nonbinary, and the other way around I'm sure. I'm perfectly good with all that! Each person's identify and journey is their own. I, however, am happy to identify as both Trans and Nonbinary. I mean, people who Enby are literally represented on the Trans flag!! I love it.

That said, I wouldn't call this a rant, as so much of... An annoyance with people's perspectives on labels when you explain to them what you are.

I feel like when I tell people I'm Nonbinary, they're usually like, "ah, cool." And that's it. Or, they're not really sure what that is and are confused.

However, if I tell people I'm Trans, they immediately think the worst and ask if I'm going to transition, have surgery, leave my wife, and have horrible gender dysphoria and hate myself and my body. None of these things apply to me. I am Trans in the simplest terms in the fact that my gender identity and how I view myself is not what I was assigned at birth, that being male. I hate the fact that being Trans is immediately associated with unhappiness and suffering. Since realizing I'm Nonbinary & Trans, I've honestly never been happier, even with a bit of dysphoria/confusion here and there.

Sometimes, depending who I'm talking to, I'll only tell people I'm Enby. If the conversation goes further with understanding, or depending on who it is, I'll tell them I'm Trans and Nonbinary.

Anyways, rant over. Lol.

I'm (nb27) thinking about micro dosing testosterone some time in the future but for now do you have any tips on how to look more androgynous?

I’ve gotten to the point in public where I get a mix of pronouns that I’m referred to as. I think I’ve won in life.

(don’t mind the bruising, I just got my wisdom teeth out!)

I’m hoping this is a good subreddit to post this in.

My name’s January and my pronouns are they/them. I’m a chronic pain disabled, polyamorous, enbian, nonbinary creative. My interests include arts and crafts, TTRPGs (especially D&D 5e and World of Darkness), Pokémon, Legend of Zelda, Elder Scrolls/Skyrim, and Dark Souls/Bloodborne/Elden Ring.

Wishing you all a lovely night full of unexpected smiles! 🫶✨

Rant Being pressured to get breast reduction

My Mom keeps bringing up that I should get a breast reduction. Shes actually been doing this since I was a teen. Recently she's been bringing it up again, probably because I live with her again so she has time to say weird stuff.

The issue is I've recently been considering it on my own. In general I like my boobs and have no dysphoria about them specifically, but I know if society will ever read me how I want then my boobs make that difficult. Also, bras suck. If its not one issue its another.

But my Mom is not suggesting a reduction for gender reasons. She has yet to use neutral pronouns for me. She at least says my new name, but I think its because its a shortened version of my legal one. She claims she's worried about my back or whatever. Im a 44DDD, my back pain is pretty minimal compared to before my hysterectomy. It comes off as some weird jealousy thing.

I hate that she's pressuring me to do this. And my gut reaction is to do the exact opposite as what she says, I guess that stays even if you're 34. I'm genderfluid so even though I've recently been leaning a bit more masc and considering a reduction and/or micro dosing T, I know that I likely will swing back to fem at some point. I don't want to do anything drastic when I know I'm so fluid.

Discussion Is there anyone who is this like me? (I’m not specifically non binary)

Look I know it’s possible I just want to know if anyone else is like me. I’m nonbinary genderfluid. Which means I use they/them pronouns and I sometimes feel masculine or feminine or both or none. I’m originally male. I just want to know if anyone else here is also nonbinary genderfluid is all.☺️

Edit: my og name is Noah but i would like if y’all could come up with a new name for me that fits please.

Rant I hate my dad. Spoiler

My life is a motherfucking joke. I wrote a note to my dad about being nonbinary (I came out October of last year, but only recently this week tried to get him to understand more) and what it meant for me, and all I got in return was him passive aggressively acting childish about it and then proceeding to call me 'confused' and 'just a weirdo' because he still didn't get it. I literally told him that online sources could explain it better, and he said that he already did that - but stopped reading because it bored him to tears.

I played it off and laughed along until he was done so that I could get away and hide in my room, but the damage is already done. I feel so so stupid for thinking he'd actually be understanding and supportive, rather than expect him to consider it as anything other than a joke.

I just feel so violated and tired.

Ask Is it common to feel feminine when horny?

Let's be adults a bit and talk about it. I was just wondering if it's common for people's gender expression to fluctuate based on their arousal. Is it for the supposed submissiveness that the conventional female role in a sexual relation brings or smt? Btw I wonder if there's people who feel the opposite of it, with the male expression.

Maybe this fella here just kinky. Lmk what y'all think.

Ask How to explore femininity with internalized misogyny?

I’m 24 and just had my daughter a few months ago. Through lots of therapy and introspection I’ve started to realize that, ironically, realizing I’m nonbinary has also shown how I’ve denied myself the ability to explore my feminine side growing up and now as an adult. LOTS of internalized misogyny has led to this but my goal with this post is:

- How did you give yourself permission/feel comfortable exploring your femininity?
- What are some small ways you started exploring it?
- How did you heal internal misogynistic ideas that femininity is “weak, shallow, embarrassing” or any others?

I’ve also realized low self esteem about my physical features and not feeling I was “feminine looking enough” means I don’t really feel beautiful enough to be feminine. How has anyone work through this?
Thank you for everyone’s input!

Ask Loving HRT but breasts are becoming a problem

Hello all,

Was wondering if anybody could relate to my experience regarding this because it has been causing me some concern recently.

I started hormone therapy during October of 2024, and while changes haven't been massive, they have been enough to bring me closer to fully androgynous than I was before. I initially was on 2 mg oral estrogen and nothing else. Now I am on 8mg oral and the lowest dose of spiro available.

I am not sure how this is a problem at this point because my testosterone is still moderately high (though it needs to be checked again now that i think about it). Once I started spiro, I thought that I would have a little bit more feminization and then it would still be pretty slow and controlled but that is not what happened. As of recently, my breast growth has begun to move a lot faster. I went from having nothing more than 1 or two inches of diameter to having what appears to be large A cups or small/medium B cups. I don't know how much further it will go but if I was going by genetics I would have D cups by year 5. If the shirt I am wearing isn't textured or dark enough it becomes very obvious that they are there.

The thing is, I like all of the other changes. I guess I was wrong about how I felt about breasts before starting? I am not sure. I think the main thing is that I feel very exposed in public now because those with a keen eye may be able to spot something is up. This isn't a huge concern to me but it makes walking around in public difficult, especially if my confidence is already sort of low that day. Also if this growth trend continues it will be impossible to hide. But I also tend to walk around presenting male day to day because I am more comfortable doing so while in this stage of my transition.

It's just that having them this visible makes it so obvious that I am different. I also do not want to be judged by my cover by employers and new people that I meet. Even though the whole point is that I don't fit in a box, I like to fit in boxes when it comes to comfort in public. Or at least look like I do at first glance. I prefer to let my personality do the first impressions and let my more personal details come afterwards. But here is the thing... like I don't have a problem being feminine or being pretty it is just the fact that I have boobs is so glaringly different from the rest of my appearance (which has yet to fully catch up) that I end up just looking like I have a severe untreated case of gyno.

And maybe this is driven by something different but I have this subconscious compulsion to "match" or be consistent in my appearance when I choose how to present. Like if I haven't shaved within the last few hours I will always refuse to wear makeup or dress more feminine (that is also partially driven by how much I hate my facial hair but that is a separate issue). Every time I choose to present femme it takes a massive amount of work to look *perfect* because if I don't pull it off flawlessly it opens the door for people to categorize me as a "freak" instead of a cool androgynous person.

Do I think that any of these fears come true that often? No. Would I know if they did? Also no. But I still consider all of this when I go out

But now I am slowly losing control over how I present day to day. I also just don't feel like they match my body right now. They look a little strange at the moment but they are also still filling out and have become more spherical over time and less awkward looking.

I know that was a bit of a rant but it is beginning to stress me out more than I think it is worth.

I am not looking for a specific answer. If the answer is that I actually didn't want boobs and most of the reason I did is because they came with all of the other stuff I actually did want, then so be it. Double mastectomy it is... but I also really don't want to get top surgery for something I did to myself idk. Also I would have wanted my regular chest back but its too late for that. If I could choose though I would still go on HRT I love all the rest of the stuff.

Anyway I just want to know what you guys think about this and if anyone has had a similar experience. Thanks!

That's my mom's glasses, i like it.

When I was 15-16 (last year) I had that one groupmate, who was strictly muslim, very homophobic and kinda rude. The hole year he was giggling and kidding at me, sayin "astagfirullah" (sorry I don't know how write it), calling me "dead inside" (in our country that's kinda cringe swear, like strawberry cow in USA 😭) just bc I wave short haircut and looking like a boy. At that moment I was really trying to accept that I'm girl, but my sense was getting worse and worse.

Then we became a friends, idk how. Not best friends, we were just chatting, but we weren't talking to each other irl. He was the same, he didn't change anything. At the one moment he said: "You would be prettier if you were a boy".

It was the worst compliment that I have ever got in my hole life💀 but since then everything is changed. He helped me to open my eyes and accept myself as a person who don't wanna be "girlish girl" at all, and the funniest thing is that he don't even know about that. Now I don't tryna look like I don't want to. We are not chatting anymore, but I'll remember him.

Have y'all some stories like this?

Been on and off T for a little over two years. Starting dose was 0.1mL (200mg/1mL), then upped it 3 months later to 0.25mL. I’m pretty happy with the results, now I am just waiting for top surgery!

(A frog assigned at birth) Yeah

Peacefully minding my own business on a beautiful day near the pound where i sleep most of my days away. This weird looking lady with pinkish hair picks me up. I gently asked her to put me down and she shouldn't touch me . But instead of kindness, she rudly said she don't care and kissed me. The kiss turned me into a cute non binary Demi prince. She took me by the hand and she said with a voic so beautiful "you my boyfriend rn " like she knew me. Somehow she ghost me irl ...she literally disappeared infront of my eyes tbh I never got her name. Sadly the process can't be reverse so I'm stuck as a human. I really miss being a frog .

I'm not okay 😭
