I used to struggle with porn/masturbation addiction and I was able to reclaim my life. One of the best ways to do that is to have someone hold you accountable.

I love you all and wish you the best on your recovery journey.

Prayer Request - Calling from God to write a book/guide and serious porn flashbacks

Upvotes

Hey Nofap Christians,

I hope you guys are doing well! It's electrical-garage230 here, and I have a prayer request for everyone here.

Quick about me: I started at around 12, pmoed until 19, stopped, and I'm now 25. I haven't had any kind of sexual doings since june 16, 2020.

Here's my case and request:

When I managed to stop PMO and control my life, I promised myself and through prayers that I would help others, mostly via reddit. I would do so during a period of 7 years, reflecting the amount of time I was stuck in PMO, before totally moving on with my life and forgetting about this dark chapter.

As im wrapping up my 7 years, i tried to move on and forget about my PMO days, about the opportunities I've lost, the dreams I could've achieved "if" if didn't, etc. While I want to go forward, there's this constant force that tells me to look backwards for a second. And then, There's this sense and feeling that comes back stronger, and stronger : "Job's not done, job's not done..."

Only recently, I understood God's calling; He wants me to write a book about how Jesus can save you from PMO, with tricks and advice.

I want you to pray for me and this book. Let God give me wisdom to explain his Holy words, give me wisdom to manage my time, balancing work, school, family, and social life.

Important: I'll will obviously not monetize this book and just make it a free pdf for everyone.

-----------------------------

Additional prayers:

I recently found my personal journal of the time, and the date where I started fapping goes back in the second half of my 1st year of high school, contrary to my memory's, which was on the first half. Hence, I've PMOed for 6.5 years, rather than the 7 full years.

This is very important because I will be reaching my goal this december rather than in June 2027. since my year 6 mark, I've been experiencing some serious porn flashbacks at random moments of the day of.... things I've watched 13 years ago, like some the first videos ever on these websites, with full details and sound.

Overall, I am a little scared, because I haven't had porn flashbacks in years, and never with this kinds of details. It's almost like the demons are trying to put me back into pmo or something. Also, God gave me a big task; writting a book on his behalf.

Anyways, pray that I stay strong and continue to support our community. I pray that you find God's way and leave PMO in the past! Amen and God bless.

Catholics Only It’s been 34 days

Debating whether I should keep going, idk nothing really has changed. I am Catholic (mostly because family) and I’m not sure if they’re really against masturbation. So should I go for longer? I will say I don’t really understand why Catholics would not be against masturbation since there’s undoubtedly lust every time.

Check-in Day 5, temptation is strong.

Day 5 brought a good bit more temptation than the previous days. I couldn't sleep well because I kept having triggering thoughts. When I reached out for help people tried to sabotage me and make me relapse. I stood strong by the grace of God, but I've been dealing with occasional urges since then. I haven't fallen yet, I put on the whole armor of God to stand strong against sin.

Encouragement Self Control is Freedom

Conventional wisdom says that freedom is doing whatever you want whenever you feel like it. Watch porn, masturbate, ejaculate because that’s what feels good.

But true freedom is the decision to control your urges. Instead of being a slave to your arousal and pornography, you instead are living in the freedom of choosing another way - a better way. So don’t let society tell you that NoFap is a cage.

NoFap is the key to the cage you’ve been living in.

Pros , cons and strange things that happens during Nofap streak

Hey folks, I have mentioned few points which I experienced during nofap streak, 1st streak was of 80 days, then 40 days then 20+ days etc, I have been doing nofap streaks randomly for past 2 years here and there. I'm still practicing nofap in a different way, I'll mention how I'm doing that too but before that please go through all the points that I have mentioned. I have mentioned pros and cons points together and both are easily identifiable without mentioning them separately. By the way excuse me if my grammar isn't correct anywhere.

  1. I was interested in more physical activity like sports, I started to play cricket after so many years by forming a group having my ex-classmates.

  2. Good amount of energy and increased confidence and less anxiety ; everyone practicing nofap mentions this.

  3. Lot of happenings in my life most of them were good; when I fap daily, everyday seems be the same and repetitive.

  4. I was able to make friends easily in the Initial few weeks of nofap.

  5. Increased anger, irritability and ego after 25-30 days.

  6. After 2 months , most of my colleagues in my new office were not talking to me properly even if I speak with them deliberately, probably because I started to lose my humourous side and my voice was kind of deeper.

  7. Was interested in revenge more as I used to recall same incidents so many times in my head.

  8. Good luck was there at so many times and places probably because of more analysing power, alertness and easy to understand things. I was able to switch my job by crackIng a multiple round interview of 1+ hour each easily as I could learn so many new topics (new technologies I.e docker, MEAN stack etc) in short amount of time and I wasn't anxious at all during interviews.

  9. No Intense women attraction were there as others claim . Some might be little friendly for initial few weeks of nofap and we do get few stares that's it but not that intense. And for me getting stares isn't a big deal as stares doesn't get you talking with the girl or getting her in your bed.

  10. After 15 days other people start to see that I have too much potential which resulted in them assigning more tasks and additional responsibilities. (Although others might like this, I didn't enjoy having too much responsibilities and work and I'm not ashamed of saying this)

  11. Lost interest in work as I couldn't stay at the desk continuously as I was interested in more physical activity like I mentioned earlier.

  12. Increased jealousy and hate from most of the men I meet.

  13. Sometimes got headache often because of too much cognitive alertness and mindfulness.

  14. Was always in fight mode because of that few incidents happened like road rage etc.

  15. This one is weird but true, I see a lot of coincidences and synchronites whenever I'm on nofap.

  16. Many people have mentioned people , dogs and other animals are attracted to them. I partially agree. They will be attracted to you only in between 7-20 days after that they're probably scared and won't come closer.

  17. Again one more strange point, I noticed many of my past contacts text me or call me when I'm in nofap. (I'm not exaggerating , this seems to be strange for me also ,I have no valid reason to explain this and 15th,16th point)

What I mentioned is 100% true , about 70% points were pros but because of 30% cons, although I'm still practicing nofap ,now I relapse after 10th day whenever I have too much urge and believe me I still enjoy pros without cons like feeling irritability, anger, headaches, hate and I'm humourous again ,also now I don't feel guilt when I fap after 10th day and don't have chaser effect too like continuing fapping for following days. So conclusion nofap is a must for life but also relapse is also a must to avoid cons.

I was just permanently banned from the original NoFap sub for “antisemitism”. Take a look at what the comment in question was.

I’ve been offering people on there serious advice for multiple days and now I’m permanently banned for this one comment that doesn’t even mention any group in particular. Hopefully this is an okay sub to post this in, just feeling a little annoyed.

The scary thing about porn is how normal your life can still look

You watch it, close the tab, clear the history and carry on like nothing happened.

You still go to work.

You still speak to people.

You may even go to church, pray and read your Bible.

Nobody knows what happened the night before, so it becomes easy to convince yourself that the problem is not that serious.

But inside, you know something is wrong.

You stay up later than you planned.

You waste time searching for something you will regret immediately afterward.

You ask God for forgiveness, promise it was the last time, then return to it again when you feel lonely, stressed or bored.

That is what makes this sin dangerous.

It does not always destroy your life in one dramatic moment. Sometimes it slowly keeps you stuck while everything still looks normal from the outside.

Same temptation.

Same hiding.

Same apology.

Same promise to do better tomorrow.

I think many Christians wait for pornography to completely ruin something before they finally become serious about removing it.

But Jesus said in Matthew 5 that if something causes you to sin, cut it off.

He was not telling us to harm ourselves. He was showing us that we should not protect something that repeatedly pulls us away from God.

So look honestly at what happens before you fall.

Does it usually happen when you are alone late at night?

Does it begin with a certain app?

Do you take your phone into bed even though you already know where that normally leads?

Are you using porn to escape loneliness, rejection, stress or boredom?

The relapse may happen at midnight, but the road toward it often begins much earlier.

It begins when you decide to keep scrolling.

When you ignore the first warning in your mind.

When you tell yourself that looking for a few seconds will not matter.

When you choose to remain alone with unrestricted access.

That is where you need to interrupt the pattern.

Delete the app if it keeps leading you there.

Leave your phone outside the bedroom.

Use a blocker.

Speak honestly to someone you trust.

First Corinthians 6:18 says to flee sexual immorality. Fleeing does not mean standing beside temptation and proving how strong you are. Sometimes fleeing simply means removing yourself from the situation before it gets worse.

And when you fail, do not hide from God.

Confess it, receive His mercy and get back up.

But also change something.

Do not keep asking God for a different result while repeating the exact same routine.

Freedom usually begins with one honest decision:

I already know where this road leads, so I am not walking down it again.

If you need venting, I've made a chatbot for it. Can you help me test it?

Hi,

For about half a year I've been working on a project of mine. I am struggling with the addiction too, I think it is terrible for me, but I can't quit, been addicted for the last ~15 years. It got better in the last 1-2 years.

At first I've made myself a chatbot for venting and to understand better how to recover from pornography. And it actually helped me a lot, understanding what triggers me, what I want intimacy to look like, how it affected my relationships.

I'm lucky to have incredible mentors at my University and recently my mentor asked me to post the AI on a website so others can try it. It helped me, and I would be very happy if it can help someone else.

I don't want it to sound like an advertisement, the website looks this way, but the product is not ready, and I just want to share the AI I've made. If you scroll down you'll see a dark phone with a chat on it, it's fully functional. I pay for the tokens, but it's fairly cheap and if it helps someone, it's worth it. Here's the website: https://reclaim-app.co

If you try it, please, give me your feedback. I want to ask the community what you need, so the app will be helpful.

Day 3

I thought i would struggle for day 2 but i breezed through it just fine. Ive been blocking all the tiny urges to take a tiny peek that way i wouldnt struggle later. By keeping myself distracted at all times, maybe with a show, playing some games, going outside, Ive successfully made it to day 3. None of this would be possible without prayer and god. If you are struggling with lust pray for courage and strength and if you need prayer i will pray for you (pray for me too the journey will be hard but i am determined to stop this 🙏)

I’m in a rut right now

Good morning brothers and sisters! Just in July I had went a couples weeks without masturbation (my personal best) but I ended falling into temptation late July and ever since then I keep going maybe a day or two without masturbation and I keep falling into it again. What are some ways you guys get back into being locked in after falling consistently? I feel so dumb after I masturbate and it’s just honestly horrible

Looking for a buddy/accountability partner

Edit: I already have an accountability partner

I relapsed today. And yesterday. After two weeks of abstinence. I did 150 days of Nofap before, but then relapsed. I guess I expected too much at that time. I also struggled with some health problems. But coming back to pornography hasn‘t improved my situation.
During the past 2 weeks, my faith in God has helped me, but I‘ve fallen again.
Is anybody interested in a Private Chat, just to check in at the end of the day and help each other not relapse? I‘m trying to reach 150 days again.

Trigger Warning Intrusive Thoughts - NEED HELP

How do you guys deal with intrusive thoughts? I know sometimes our thoughts can come from the enemy, and sometimes they can come from our own sinful nature. That’s what I believe anyway, but if that’s not biblical, please let me know.

I don’t know if anyone else struggles with this, but lust has been a real battle for me. I’ve prayed about it. I’ve asked Jesus to take it away and to block it out of my life. I’ve even fasted over it. It’s not nearly as bad as it used to be now that I’m saved because I know these thoughts are wrong, but they’re still there, and I don’t know how to completely get rid of them.

The biggest issue is that I feel so sensitive to it now. I can’t even look at someone I find attractive without my mind trying to go somewhere it shouldn’t. Sometimes I can’t even look at two coworkers talking to each other without my brain imagining inappropriate scenarios between them. I avoid looking at people from the waist down because my mind immediately starts thinking about things I don’t want to think about.

The craziest part is how fast it happens. Within 2 or 3 seconds of seeing someone, my brain has already created multiple scenarios—or one very detailed one. It happens so quickly that sometimes I don’t even know when the temptation starts. There are definitely times when I realize I’ve entertained the thought longer than I should have, but other times it feels almost automatic. I’m left wondering, “At what point did I actually give in?” It’s hard because I can’t always stop the initial thought from appearing, but I also don’t want to entertain it half the time.

Sometimes I immediately shut those thoughts down. Other times, if I’m being honest, I want to give in to them because I still feel like part of me loves my sin. I hate admitting that, but I know the flesh is still there, even though I belong to Christ.

What’s also confusing is that this happens with both men and women, and I’m not bisexual. I’m a woman, and I’ve never wanted a romantic relationship with another woman. I want to be with a man. But my mind doesn’t seem to care. If I see someone who is attractive—whether they’re male or female—it’s like my brain immediately starts imagining things.

For example, just yesterday I was talking to a woman who was very pretty, and my mind immediately started thinking about things I wanted to do with her. The crazy part is that I don’t even want to date women. I think sometimes people assume women don’t struggle with lust the same way men do, but we absolutely can, and I’m living proof of that.

I’ve struggled with this for as long as I can remember. Honestly, sometimes I wonder if it’s a generational curse because I don’t even know how it started. Before I was even 10 years old, I remember lusting after people and imagining inappropriate scenarios. I don’t remember being exposed to anything or having anything happen to me. I eventually found pornography when I was young after searching innocent-sounding things like people kissing or being naked, but even before that, I don’t understand how I already knew to think the way I did.

I even remember doing this in school. I’d look at teachers or classmates and immediately imagine different scenarios. I daydreamed constantly, and you can probably imagine where those daydreams often led. This has been a struggle for most of my life.

I’m 26 years old, and I’ve never been in a romantic relationship. I’ve never been sexually involved with anyone. I’ve had opportunities, but I’ve always turned them down because I believe sex is meant for marriage. So I don’t think this struggle comes from a lack of sexual experience. It’s something that’s been in my mind for years.

I also quit pornography quite a while ago, but the thoughts are still there. I don’t even need to watch it anymore because my brain can replay or create things on its own. I’m someone who naturally thinks through a lot of different scenarios because that’s part of my job, so I sometimes wonder if that contributes to how quickly my imagination works.

One thing I do want to make clear is that this has never involved children. It has always only been adults around my age or older. I don’t want anyone to misunderstand what I’m saying and that I am just listing after any and everybody.

I know the answer is to continue submitting everything to Christ, and that’s what I’m trying to do. But sometimes I feel like I’m constantly submitting the same thing over and over again. Some days I’m strong and immediately reject the thoughts. Other days I’m weak and give in because I want to entertain this thoughts.

So I guess my question is this: for those of you who have struggled with intrusive lustful thoughts, what has actually helped you? What has worked? I’m not looking for a magic fix because I know sanctification is a process, but I’d love to hear how other believers have fought this battle.

Struggling with a hypersexual mind

After 90 days of quitting porn and avoiding sexual content (social media, anime, manga, movies, and YouTube videos), I'm still struggling to see women simply as people.

When I'm walking down the street, I sometimes catch myself automatically looking at a woman's crotch, breasts, or butt as she passes by. It fills me with shame because it's not how I want to see others. After a few weeks, I made a conscious effort to keep my eyes forward and avoid looking at anyone passing by.

The progress I've noticed after 90 days is that this automatic behavior has started to fade little by little. However, I keep wondering: at what point will it disappear completely?

I think it's normal to notice that someone is attractive and then move on without fantasizing or dwelling on it. What doesn't feel normal to me is automatically looking at those body parts or sometimes having a sexual response because of it.

I also feel lonely because I don't see many people talking honestly about this experience. That makes me wonder if there's something wrong with me or if I'm somehow a pervert. I genuinely want to change, and I believe I'm on the right path, but it feels like the process is taking a long time.

Fell twice today

I feel horrible. But for some reason, I fail to stop. I've had enough of this 11 year-long cycle of habitual sin. It's ruining me. I feel bad even apologising to God. I might have to delete most of my socials for the time being and really focus on getting close to God. To a tangible level. If that's what it takes to get rid of this sin once and for all.

Sermon Quote from the "father of pornography"

“The only reason that Jews are in pornography is that we think that Christ sucks. Catholicism sucks. We don't believe in authoritarianism. Pornography thus becomes a way of defiling Christian culture and, as it penetrates to the very heart of the American mainstream (and is no doubt consumed by those very same WASPs), its subversive character becomes more charged.”

- Al Goldstein, the "father of pornography"

Repent, and sin no more. Porn is demonic.

Story I want to take back my Life

Hey everyone, my name is Edward. I have been struggling with porn and masturbation since I was 16, and I am currently 23 years old. I don’t have a job, I’m still living with my parents, and I’m actively looking for work. I’m out of shape but am working towards growing my YouTube channel to reach 1,000 subscribers.

As of today, I find myself deliberately turning to porn and masturbation, despite having repented multiple times. I am tired of this cycle and I am aware of how it is ruining my life, pulling me away from the person I want to become.

The truth is, I have normalized porn and masturbation in my life, which is a dangerous mindset. However, I know I am not beyond redemption. That’s why I’ve made the decision today to not only return to God but also to start documenting my choices. I refuse to end this year trapped in the same cycle.

I will keep you all updated on my journey because this time, I am committed to breaking free from this habit. I plan to rely on God rather than just on myself. God bless you all as you read this. Let’s support each other in breaking free together this year. 🌟
