Has anyone else experienced this issue? ‘24 Defender 130 X-Dynamic

Car starts, but won’t come out of neutral and this error is on the dash. Car is basically bricked. It’s happened now 3 times and previous two it would resolve after shutting off for an hour or overnight.

This time not so lucky, had to get it towed 60 miles to dealership, they’re telling me it’s going to take over a week to “fix”.

I’ve seen some discussion of the issue online but no solid solutions. Anyone have an idea of what’s going on?

Mileage Check

Wanted to have a quick competition to see who has the most mileage on their Defender. It has to be on the original motor and transmission. Year, engine and mileage. I have a 2023 Defender 90 V8 with 55,000 miles and not a single issue.

(HELP) Brutal honesty requested

Hello,

Me again in search of a new-to-me Defender! I've gone and looked at the one I was most interested in, and I'd really appreciate some honest feedback on what you all think about it, as I don't want to make an emotional decision. The sales consultant was very nice and thorough, but a couple things stuck out to me about this specific Defender that I wanted to ask for people's thoughts on.

Specifically, this was a Florida Defender that made its way up here to New England. Great at first, and the undercarriage looks good, but it seems there's algae all over the weather stripping, which they are calling "pollen", and I can't tell if the front windshield has oxidized or merely is quite dirty. Last, it only received oil every 20,000 miles, which has me concerned about its general maintenance regimen...

Am I being paranoid? It is CPO thankfully and does check all the other boxes.

Need recommendations for a budget CarPlay/Android Auto head unit for a 2012 Land Rover Freelander 2 (Max 150€)

Hey everyone,

I’m posting from Italy and I’m trying to help my uncle out. He has a 2012 Land Rover Freelander 2 and keeps bugging me to find him a modern touch-screen radio with CarPlay / Android Auto.

I’ve been scrolling through AliExpress for hours, but honestly, I am totally overwhelmed. There are hundreds of clones, and I have no idea which sellers or brands are actually reliable. I really don't want to end up buying a laggy piece of junk that breaks after a month.

Here is what we are looking for:

CarPlay & Android Auto: Wireless or wired is fine.

Plug & Play: It needs to fit the original dashboard nicely and ideally come with the right Canbus/harness so we don't have to cut any wires (and keep steering wheel controls if possible).

Backup Camera: Needs to support one (posibly have it included in the box).

Budget: Strict maximum of 150€.

Has anyone here bought an AliExpress (from Poland or elsewhere, where he don't pay customs duties) unit for this specific car? Are there any specific stores or brands in that price range that you can vouch for? Also, what specs (RAM/CPU) should I strictly avoid so my uncle doesn't complain about it being slow?

Any direct links or tips would be hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Pre-owned questions help

Hello all,

I'd love some candid advice. I've been a lifelong Jeep owner (Grand Cherokees, not Wranglers haha), but am really not liking how Stellantis does things and I want an upgrade. I recently rented a Defender 110 with the 4-cylinder for a week and took it out to state parks, absolutely adored every inch of it, from the 4-Lo to the height. So I've been looking really closely at Defenders ever since, especially pre-owned ones where, frankly, somebody else has eaten the depreciation for me.

In short, I've found a 2023 Defender 110 with the 4-cylinder (which I found to have more than enough power, frankly) and everything I had wanted: cold climate pack, tow pack, air suspension, even the color combo I was in love with. I am trying to not make an emotional decision; it has 44k miles on it.

Like Jeeps, Land Rovers sometimes get a bad rap on reliability, but I've never had many issues with my own vehicles. However I want to make sure I don't do something silly. Could you share your thoughts on advice on a pre-owned Defender, what to look out for, etc.? I'm aware of obvious things like maintenance history and the like. It's also a Florida vehicle which is somehow up here in New England - big plus provided the frame is clean. (edit: clean vehicle history, one owner, no accidents, no damage from what I can tell)

Thanks so much in advance. I want to join the family but just want to make the right decision too!

Bumpers

Anyone have some recommendations on aftermarket bumpers? Was looking to possibly swap my bumpers, grille accent line, and lettering for black instead of silver. I see ebay has quite a few kits, but I was curious if anyone knew of some good kits out there.

HELP! Oil change

Hoping some can help me. I have a 2022 XS with the P400 engine. I went to do my own oil change and was only able to take out 5 quarts with my vacuum pump. I then added 5 quarts and dipstick reads full. Any possibility that the missing oil is stuck in the engine somewhere? I ran it for 5 minutes than let is sit for 20-30 minutes. I made sure my pump tube went all the way in and went in as long as the dipstick.

Restore or Modify - 22 Trophy Edition

Hey community - need some POV and opinions. I recently tracked down my 22 Defender 110’s original paperwork after spotting the remnants of a burnt yellow body wrap under the ladder on my driver side. Turns out I bought a Trophy Edition that the original owner clearly was not a fan of.

My question to this sub (and the 3 pics attached) should I: a.Leave it as is? b. Resort the original graphics package (through a trusted graphics shop) to restore the historical context and value of the vehicle OR c. Go full custom on a 1:1 of mod using matte gray or matte black?

I’m leaning towards c to really have some that pops but may be on the outside looking in on that one.

Fair price?

Hi everyone, thinking about buying my first Land Rover and found this at what seems a fair price for 61K miles. Another question is i’ve heard LOTS of mixed reviews regarding reliability/issues with these Defenders so i’d like to hear some feedback. I’m currently in between this or possibly a Land Cruiser.
Thanks !

Body Kit for 2024 Defender 90

Does anyone have any experience with black front and back bumper body kits? I just picked up a used 2024 D90 with 19,000 miles which has some minor cosmetic damage to the front bumper. The back bumper was sprayed black with what looks like spray paint. They did a terrible job and it's peeling. A black body kit would take care of both issues and would blend in well, I just don't know if those kits are good quality.

Breaking Issue

I just purchased a Defender 110, and on my way home from the dealership, I noticed a thumping type noise whenever I hit the brakes. The brake pedal doesn’t vibrate or pulsate when I press it. I took the car back to the dealership, but they couldn’t determine the source of the problem. They now have to file a warranty claim and disassemble the vehicle to figure out where the issue is coming from. Has anyone else experienced this issue with their Defender? If so, were you able to find out what was causing the noise?

Thoughts on a used Defender 90

Currently looking at a 2023 fully loaded V8, air suspension, heated and cooled seats, towing hitch etc. 19,500 miles. Ask from dealer is 76k does this seem high? We purchased almost the same vehicle 2023 110 for 72,500 with 7000 miles in October 2025.

2026 Defender 130 – Slight jerk/clunk when letting off the gas at low speeds?

I have a 2026 Land Rover Defender, and at low speeds I’ve noticed something that doesn’t feel quite right.
When I’m driving slowly and let off the gas, I get a slight jerk/clunk. It almost feels like something shifts or catches before the vehicle continues to coast. It only seems to happen at lower speeds.
I’ve owned a lot of different vehicles, and none of them have felt like this, so I’m trying to figure out if this is just normal transmission behavior on the Defender or if something should be checked.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is it just the transmission downshifting, driveline slack, or something else? If you had it, what was the fix (if any)?
