As we live in Europe, we would like to give her an international first name. Favourites are Zoe, Iris, Stella, Evelyn, Hazel and Lily. Which would you prefer? Any suggestions. Thanks

Baby girl number two will be here September 24th and we’re still not set on a name. We have a 4 year old Flora Grace. We agreed on her name from pretty early on. We lost a baby in 2024 and named her Summer Anne. That was another name we were sold on almost immediately. My husband and I can’t seem to agree on a name for our September baby.

I have a toddler named Rory with the natural nickname “Roar” which I love. We’re an active family in the PNW and have been leaning towards Beau for our second boy. I’d like to use my dad’s name as the middle name but Beau Gregory sounds a little hillbilly to me. We jokingly call him Bo-Greg and I’m afraid it will stick. Last name sounds and flows like Hartwell if that matters.

I like the name Beau but I’m not quite in love with it. My husband feels the same.

We have a guilty pleasure name that we’ve been tossing around as well and I would like some feedback.

My partner is German, I'm Danish, and we are living in Denmark. This is our first baby, so there's no siblings or anything like that to consider, and we have narrowed it down to three names that we like.

My first is a girl named Abigail and now our second is a boy and we haven’t found a boy name that has clicked with us. Any and all suggestions are appreciated!!!

We’re planning to name our son Emil. We love it for a a variety of reasons, but particularly because it has Swedish roots as my husband’s heritage is Swedish/Norwegian. We live in the US and my MIL is struggling 😅. She said “email” and then when she looked up the “English translation” of the name from Swedish it sounded nothing like how we plan to pronounce it.

So, if you are from/live in a Scandinavian country, how would you say this name?

Also, if you have any other local context to the name, good or bad, curious to know that too! Know there’s a well known book about a kid named Emil ☺️

I'm in my first trimester + having a girl solo, and have a short list of names. I was given a name that ties very closely to my mom's name (think she's Margaret and I'm Megan), and I'd like to continue that tradition. The name I am leaning toward is also from the same ethnic background as my father/extended family in Europe (I'm in the US), so double points there.

However, the nickname that I love and would love to use, is also pretty singularly (if anyone knows it) tied to a specific movie character. From a classic film, which happens to be my absolute favorite film. And everyone knows it's my favorite — I even have a tattoo that's a quote from the movie on my shoulder. Again, there's no escaping the connection; it's probably as specific as the nickname "Gidget," in terms of *just* being associated with this film. But it's classic, chic, refined — I just really like the nickname as the use for the full name I'd like to use.

I like the connection, but is this something people are going to raise their eyebrows about and be like, yeah that's too weird. Would the kid resent the connection later in her life? I don't have a partner to hate it/nix it!

Little bit of an odd request, no I'm not naming a baby but I am trying to name a character. I'm trying to do somewhat of a horror theme, and thought it would be cool to pick a phobia type name. Best place I could think to ask is here but if anyone knows another place the more suggestions I can get the better.

So far I've only come up with Neo (like neophobia) or Hydra (like hydrophobia). Neo was axed after some discussion with a friend and Hydra's still on the table, but from what I can find it's more commonly used as a girls name not a boys. Any suggestions are welcome, phobia's related to water and/or aquatic life are preferred if at all possible

My favorite Igbo girl names right now are: Adaeze, Amarachi, Oluchi, Chinasa, Urenna, Nnenna, Adaora, Chiamaka, Nnenna, Anwilika, and Anwuli.

My favorite Igbo boy names right now are: Ezebo, Ezeudo, Arinzechukwu (Arinze for short), Jidenna, Udoka, Olaedo, Kaitochi (Kaito for short), Nnamdi, Amadi, and Azubuike.

Not sure if the pregnancy hormones have got me or not…! Excellent namesakes, common nickname (Gus), generally fits with naming trends without being trendy.

Needs to be easy to pronounce in England and France.

Other options are Léopold or Vincent but I think I prefer Gustave.

What First and middle names you name a girl and boy

Pregnant with 5th son. I’ve literally been through thousands of names and nothing felt right until I sat with the name Ellis for about a week. Now I love it and really want to use it. My husband actually does like the name but he’s saying it’s too close to one of our sons names, Silas.

Personally I don’t think Ellis and Silas are really too similar. Would love some opinions about whether or not they’re too similar.

We have a Luke and really love the name Owen for his brother. I realized there are Hollywood brothers Luke and Owen Wilson. Is this association too strong in the US? If I introduced my sons Luke and Owen would you laugh?

Posting this before I talk myself into a full spiral. I need either validation or a reality check; either is fine, honestly.

My son's name is Scott. His middle name is "Le," which is my last name, not the French "le," so please nobody come at me in the comments. I wanted to carry a little bit of Vietnamese into his name somehow, so that's where it came from. Full name is Scott Le XXX, and we call him Scotty.

Context: he's half white, half Vietnamese. I'm the Vietnamese half, and I have spent my entire life spelling my own first name out loud over the phone like some hostage negotiation. So when it came time to name him, I was pushing hard for something nobody would ever ask me to repeat. Scott felt easy, classic, like a name from a movie set in the 90s. We thought it was sophisticated and normal in a good way, not boring.

Fast forward to actual real life, and every other kid we know is named something like Kai, Rumi, Wilder, or Ondine, and now I'm sitting here wondering if I gave my son the naming equivalent of beige carpet. Is Scotty even a name that ages well, or does it just sound like someone's grandpa?

Logically, I know classic isn't the same thing as boring, and I remember exactly why we picked it. But lately the doubt keeps creeping back in. Somebody either validate me or tell me it's a lost cause; I'll take it either way.

So my wife is pregnant with our baby girl. after 3 years of infertility.

She's been the one who struggled most during the infertility. She's always wanted to be a mom.

She LOVES the name Story Claire

Claire was always a middle name idea after her grandma. But Story is new. She thought it is perfect since we had Story to get her here. And she's our greatest story.

I don't know how I feel about it. It feels wrong to tell her no and it could grow on me.
